SharpeXB
I haven’t flown a night mission in quite a while. Just did one in the M-2000C Red Flag Campaign. Night seems really dark. Yes this mission had no moon. But the lights around Nevada seem really dim. Along with the Nellis ground lights etc. Vegas itself should really light up the sky and it doesn’t. simapajik
Yes. The surrounding terrain is not visible. Which is fine at night. If it doesn't light well for a month. But DCS cannot perform night flight under VMC conditions. Cities and villages are not illuminated. The airport is not visible. No runway. taxiways not lit and approny also not. Helicopters do not have functional headlights. They light little and do not illuminate the ground below. In aircraft, landing lights and taxiing lights are not sufficiently lit. It is bad. DCS is playable only by day. <White Tiger> [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

BaD CrC
DCS is playable only by day. Lol, yes maybe lighting is a bit problematic lately, but that's quite a stretch to say that DCS is playable only by day. Flying under NVG is perfectly fine and quite realistic. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden

Wesjet
You can offset some of the darkness by adjusting the gamma setting in the graphics settings, which I believe you can do while playing too. However, this will also cause daytime scenes to be washed out. So you can either adjust it back and forth or accept a happy medium. My Rig: CPU: i9-9900k - Corsair H150 Cooler. RAM: 32GB, 3200Mhz. simapajik
Yes. I agree NVG super. But those lights are a problem. DCS is all about flying. and the flying rules include VMC Night rules. <White Tiger> [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
McPetterson
Sky too dark Actually I'm asking my self why the sky in the game isso dark ? I play on warbirds (that means with no radar) and everytime a plane is above me, I'm struggling really much to trying to see it, it's kind of ridiculous actually. From my place actually, watching sky, I can see Boeing far up in the sky .. so i'm wondering why to choose to put it that dark ? Is there any chance to put sky less darker or put an option for server to choose sky brightness ?
razo+r
Have you tried tuning the monitor settings and have you played around with the gamma settings in DCS?
probad
its not sky too dark (have you actually looked up when you are at altitude?) but rather aircraft distance lods not displaying the effects of reflected ground illumination you might not think the dirt and forests are reflective but when you are talking about geographical scales with the amount of light that the sun outputs there is actually a lot of light being bounced back up into the underside of aircraft the higher up the aircraft is, the more ground illumination it receives. reference those cold war high altitude photos of aircraft, they look bleached white against a very dark sky. so looking up from below aircraft should contrast not as dark dot in a light sky but a bright dot in a dark sky right now we have dark dot in a dark sky. Mars Exulte
Mostly the gamma setting. Kind of sucks though, seems like it's either too high or too low most the time @@ Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2

draconus
The moon is way too small Quite a statement… isn't 1737.1 km of radius enough for you? You know ED cannot do anything about that? Seriously just zoom in to have it at usual 30 arcminutes. ED Team NineLine Posted July 31, 2019 ED Team Share Posted July 31, 2019 Most of this has been reported for some time, some of it is not easy to fix as its part of the terrain tools. The draw distances on the core most light sources are the issue, its way too low and disappears too soon. Anyways, long story short, its known and will be addressed. McPetterson
Have you tried tuning the monitor settings and have you played around with the gamma settings in DCS? yeah I did, and it's awfull, if I increase the gamma the game looks terrible, and if i decrease gamma I can't see in the game, it's ridiculous. yersterday again, I could see shape of a boeing around 25000 feet with condensation. I really hope ED will have a new studio who will challenge them for warbirds
