Hi pilots,

I have 2 questions for the VR and reverb :

1-when I click on buttons at the bottom left or right of the cockpit, I sometime go out of the window and click on the taskbar and go out of DCS, how do you manage that (except putting bar on sides)

2-I have a good tracking with reverb when looking front and side but when I need to see on CDU for a10c by example, tracking goes really wrong. is there a solution ? (my room is well lighted, but truely not enough)

Thanks

make sure that you have mouse set to operate only within the dcs window ( Cursor confined to game window in VR Settings)and or press ALT-ENTER when in game.

A lot of tips here:

looking down can cause tracking problems if your lap isn't lit! strange but true.

also setting roomscale calibration, even if you are only seated seems to help some

Led lighting sources that are in the line of sight can sometimes screw things up, for example, i have a pc on my desk with LED lighting, some of those interfered with the tracking solution, so i found out which ones and turned them off.

something to track, plain walls bad, put a picture on them or something contrasting.

  • 2 weeks later...

Does the little white LED on the front top of the Reverb have any specific function? Or is it just an on/off indication?

I'm trying to remount my PointCTRL HMS and I'm not sure if I can block this LED

Edit:

Nevermind, just covered the led and did some flying. All works fine

My Reverb went back to HP for the dead pixels and they agreed for a refund.

I think I’m better off waiting for the G2 now?

depends on if you want to wait for a few months before going into VR again ...

Yeah I’m in the learning phase with DCS, still figuring out all the systems.

Most of my flights are actually on pause and reading the manual so not much fun anyway.

And in any case I was a little bit disappointed by the whole experience. I can’t cope with the compromises on graphics that come with VR.

I guess when I will start doing missions the more immersive effect of VR will change things.

there is absolutely no argument you can drive more eye-candy in 2d than you can in VR... i wont go back ... your 2070 super should have similar perf to my 1080ti so give my settings a go

The 2070 has no way of touching the 1080ti when it comes to performance. Theres more bandwidth allocated for Ti cards, higher throughput, more memory allocated, and considerably more power. The horsepower under the hood looks the same, but different transmission.

Hello, I tried to find an optimal setting for my new Reverb and discovered that 90 Hz means 45 fps <irth reprojection, that I can not always achieve. So I tried to go to 60 Hz and 30 fps, but then I have non symetrical view for each eye. See picture. Am I the only one to have the problem ?

It’s very unlikely that you will get 90 FPS consistently, I have tried 60hz, and it’s not really worth it... you can get a pretty constant 45fps if you switching on motion vectoring, but a lot depends on your settings

The question is not to know if it's worth to use 60 Hz. With my current setting ans this mission I did not achieve the 45 fps and had stuttering when looking sideway the forest below and rolling the plane.

I just want to know if I'm the only one to have the problem in 60 Hz mode or if someone found a solution.

You're not the only one. Reverb is prone to some inherent 'stutter' also, it very much depends on your settings.

That's not 'non symetrical view for each eye', that's shadows missing, something cannot keep up.

I have reprojection off, btw, shadows off, no AA whatsoever, and steamVR 100%, that's how I keep my scenery smooth, 25FPS on certain decks spawning multiserver, 30FPS to the cat, 50FPS on altitude.

I haven't seen that specific problem at 60hz, a number of things were fixed in Windows 10 2004, so if you arent using that i would recommend it, specifically at the 60hz end of the spectrum

The only setups I saw mentioned that can keep up 60 (or 90) hz , are the very top spec boxes which is 2080 Ti and super CPU's. Half of 60, you end up with 30fps

yep this ... i could largely maintain 60, but i found things like landing on the super carrier where i would get dips down to 30

Not true, I had no problems to play at 60FPS at all times with my (currently broken) Reverb on a 3600X and a 1080Ti and performance oriented settings.

Yes, I also had problems with different rendering in the left and right eye in the Reverb, that are not present in the Rift. (This is not about the clouds error that is visible in both headsets).

100% rendering, no AA, terrain (and cockpit) shadows only is good for 60FPS in all cases.

Without mentioning settings performance statements are meaningless.

100% is hard to take. 170% steam vr SS is what makes you are able to actually see things from distance and allows you to turn the msaa off.

with what HMD ? I can read every instrument and every dial clearly at 100% the practical difference between 150 and above is frankly nonsense on a Reverb...
