Can I use my modules purchased from ED Store on Steam?
Note: from 06/07/2014, License Keys purchased from ED, Gamefly or other External Sources will no longer activate on Steam.

See Key Merges to Steam Ending: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/104590-key-merges-to-steam-ending

How to transfer keyless DCS modules purchased on STEAM?
Please note, that all DCS World DLC released on Steam from 12th May 2017 will now use Steam Keys instead of Star-Force keys.

With the release of DCS 2.5.5, all products are keyless.
These modules can be bound and activated on the DCS World e-shop version from the site.
To do this, on the DCS website, on the profile page, find a special Steam account block
please use the link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/profile/

1) You need to bind the Steam account to your DCS account.
After clicking on the "BIND" button, you will be redirected to the Steam website, where you must log in and agree to share publicly available information from your profile with us.

2) After logging in to the Steam site, you return to our site and, if successful, the "GET LICENSES" button will be available.
Click the "Get licenses" button.

3) As a result, you can obtain a list of the products whose licenses:

  1. Already have a DCS account (Steam or not Steam)
  2. Can be transferred to your account from Steam
  3. Can not be transferred because they are in different types of protection

4) Click the "Transfer licenses" button.
As a result, the licenses available for transfer will be bound to the DCS account.

When you re-enter this page, the Steam license list will be displayed.

You can request licenses again to replenish them if you purchased new DCS products on Steam. New licenses also can be bound, as in the previous paragraph.

* Display name in Steam: "your name" - is not a login but rather information permitted by the Steam user to display on a public profile.

Please note that the bound products will now be available only in your Standalone version of the game, but you will not be able to access the Steam version of DCS World, this will result in a 403 error.

To use the Steam version, you must unbind your Steam account from your DCS account.

When you click the "Unbind" button, all your Steam transferred licenses will be revoked and the binding removed.

Having the same licenses on Steam and in the DCS store does not constitute a basis for a refund or transfer to another user.

Why am I receiving a 403 error when trying to use my modules in Steam?
While you use your Steam purchases in the Standalone, you will not be able to use them in Steam at the same time, you will get a 403 Error. To use them again in Steam you must unbind your account from the Standalone.

Сan I use my Steam DLC on DCS World Standalone, releases on Steam before 12th May 2017?
Yes, DCS (Star-Force) keys for modules released on Steam before the 12th of May 2017 can be used on DCS standalone.

1. You need to retrieve your serial number (CD key):
it can be found within your Steam Library and right-clicking on DCS World -> "View CD Key".  Where to get the Steam CD key?
Another way to view your CD key is by simply clicking the "CD-Key" link on the right side menu displayed after clicking DCS World within your library.

2. If you received a serial number for the module you have to bind it to the account here: License serial number check and after that, you will be able to install your product via in-game Module Manager.

3. If you are unable to use the License serial number check page, you need to activate your module in any DCS World version (Steam or from our DCS site) and then Log on under your account to the DCS game and all the Star-Force keys from the registry will be automatically bound to account.

If you need to install the module in order to activate it, please use this FAQ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/400/#1685183
How to activate Star-Force modules is described here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/564/#1525264

so, the main steps:

  1. Install DCS
  2. Install the module
  3. activate the module
  4. log on to the DCS game
  5. check the keys in Module Manager or on the product page in the E-shop

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/profile/

You may also only transfer from Steam to Standalone, Standalone to Steam transfer is unavailable.

I think the plan is to eventually convert them all.

This is great! Running low on activations here...

I get this "Following products licenses can be transferred to your DCS account:

A-10C Tactical Training Qualification Campaign

DCS: AV-8B Night Attack V/STOL

DCS: F/A-18C Hornet

DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range Map

DCS: Persian Gulf Map

These products licenses can not be transferred from Steam accounts at the moment:

A-10C Advanced Aircraft Training Qualification Campaign

A-10C Basic Flight Training Campaign

DCS: A-10C Warthog

"

Any idea when or if they'll be able to transfer?

The plane and two training missions that can't be transferred probably use 'Star Force' - if they do you should be able to use the Steam Star Force 'Key' to register the copies with your ED account.

Edit: Just tried to register the Bf-109 key - seems that feature has been removed :(

You can send a ticket to see if its possible to gift your current standalone modules, but I am not sure that it is.

Most of my Steam stuff has transferred. Still, on another attempt I got:

These products licenses can not be transferred from Steam accounts at the moment:

A-10C Operation Piercing Fury Campaign

A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign

Both are listed in the EShop as Keyless products.

As far as I understand, keyless should transfer with no problem. Am I wrong?

Also, there's a big "DELETE" button on the bottom of the page. If it's pressed, everything that's bought is lost?

They are not vulching... they are STRAFING!!! :smartass::thumbup:

Can Phantom 2000C also be transferred to the official version?

Yes, the Steam Mirage 2000C can be added to your 'standalone' account.

It has no serial number. How should I operate it?

Go to your DCS E-Store account profile and link it to your Steam account.

You may also only transfer from Steam to Standalone, Standalone to Steam transfer is not available.

Any reason to expect that transferring the other way would become available in the foreseeable future?

Both are listed in the EShop as Keyless products.

I think the answer lies in this part:

[...] as well as many new campaigns starting from the Museum Relic campaign.

The Enemy Within and Piercing Fury are probably just too old.

But as NineLine said, eventually all modules should be transferable regardless of release date, so hopefully it should work at some point in the future.

But what about existing users too? Not only new. I guess the transition period is good, but I think it would feel weird if I had to deal with keys 10 year later when most of things are kelyess, just because I purchased it before XYZ date.

As in, complete and total conversion to keyless. For the Standalone in my case, since I don't have nor plan to use Steam for anything DCS.
