tflash
Yesterday and today, Florennes AB, known from the TLP programme, was host to the Belgian Defense Days, with some very nice displays. Over 100.000 people attended, it was a bright summer day. I missed a lot because very unfortunately my daughter got ill - she's better now. I was completely stunned by the F-15C Eagle in the static display. What a sublime aircraft. Such a proud plane!!! I'm quite a Viper fan, but the Eagle just hit me in the face. Very impressive was the display by the Turkish Stars in their NF-5's. Truly magnificent, congratulations to our Turkish friends! Joe Kurr
I was there on Sunday. The static park was nice, but the flying display was way too far off, with the crowdline some 500 meters from the runway. I had to use the full 300mm of my telephoto lens to capture the flyby of the KC-135. The weather was very nice though, with some small clouds against a deep blue sky. I'll see if I can post some pictures later today. Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
Joe Kurr
As promised, some pics. Due to the distance to the flying display, some are heavily cropped. #1. An-26 of the Polish Air Force #2. F-15C from Lakenheath. #3. A-7E of the Hellenic Air Force #4. Su-22M3 of the Polish Air Force #5. The French Air Force was present with three Mirage 2000s #6. The Dutch F-16AM, flown by Ralph 'Sheik' Aarts returns after his display #7. The crew was already waiting to take care of the jet #8. Ali Ozturk did a very low fly-by, rather close to the crowd line #9. Belgian display pilot "Mickey" does a knife-edge flyby #10. KC-135R from Mildenhall #11. The Turkish Stars were also there, with their ever-amusing narrator Click here for more pictures Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
tflash
Nice pics, Joe! (I had only my cellphone with me). I was at the end of the runway when the Dutch pilot Ralph performed his display: amazing!!!! Didn't see the Belgian pilot though. Did you watch the Swiss Hornet? I was eager to see it since they have new software that gives unlimited AOA and carefree flight envelope to their Hornets, I wonder if it showed? Joe Kurr
I saw it, but didn't see much difference in max AOA compared to the Spanish EF-18 which was at Leeuwarden earlier this year. Maybe he didn't go to the edge, or the airframe itself doesn't allow for more. Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
