Just got my new Win 10 system. Going from Win7.

Is there anything I should be aware of before I begin the long process of re-installing everything on new system? Will I have to de-license anything and what if I can't dig up the SN's from modules I bought years ago?

You shouldn't have to reinstall anything when going from 7 to 10. The old days of doing a clean install are gone. No need to anymore. An upgrade is in essence a clean install these days.

Win 7 which will be my last Windows operating system.

I hope that in some distant future DCS and other games will provide vulkan and linux support, since normally I'm a Linux user.

(Only have a Windows computer for games.)

Then you have to quit gaming :)

It is quite hard for gaming industry and developers to consider as main branch for a game a Linux distribution. And this is for a single basic reason that is almost impossible to control kernel versioning so that the game can be always stable... is hard even on windows but is 5 times harder to control this on Linux.

The hope die last anyway :).

As for me, I will keep up with Windows roadmap.

Personally, a year ago I had to switch back from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 and my DCS worked better on 8.1 at that time. Not gravely different, but a bit better.

Don't ask, here's the answer: 95% of my posts are edited because I have OCD.

Sticking with Win 7 - 64 bit because of FSX and IL-2. I have issues with letting go Haha! Don't judge me :) I just threw away my European Air War, Falcon 2.0, FC 2 CDs earlier this year - spring cleaning my wife called it. It was a very sad day for me.

windows 10 pro here.

Upgraded for free from 8.1 pro ( which is what i had for my custom build initially)

No regrets, was not a fan of 8.0 tablet metro interface. it offers some microsft exclusive store games, that were once only Xbox exclusive, and DX12 rendering . If had windows 7 or 8, i wouldn't be able to take advantage of the DX12 function of my Nvidia 1080.

My dillema with older games having supposed issues, with newer operating system is not there since istill got my old Windows 7 desktop around should i need it , but so far windows 10 has not yet prevented me from running older games.

Build:

Windows 10 64 bit Pro

Case/Tower: Corsair Graphite 760tm ,Asus Strix Z790 Motherboard, Intel Core i7 12700k ,Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 64gb ram (3600 mhz) , (Asus strix oc edition) Nvidia RTX 3080 12gb , Evga g2 850 watt psu, Hardrives ; Samsung 970 EVo, , Samsung evo 860 pro 1 TB SSD, Samsung evo 850 pro 1TB SSD,  WD 1TB HDD

Hi Sarge. For now a new video card with 4 gigs of memory or more ( video card with 2 gig memory is minimum) and more ram as well. 8 gig ram is minimum required. I have I7 6700k, gtx970 with 4gig, and 16gigs of ram and plays well on high settings
