6gb update. Quite a bit of fresh data in the this friday update.

If they changed textures on anything (like gauges for the glare problem), they can add up quick.

I see what you are saying Pikey. Somewhat like quality over quantity, but maybe these developers are just that good and a week to us is like a month to them if you know what I mean. For me, deliver what you can when you can if you feel confident in what you are releasing. If an issue comes up I feel I can be patient enough for ED to resolve it.

I agree, if it's ready release it if not then we wait until it's ready:thumbup:

New Damage Model Update

In order to bring DCS World to a new level of combat simulation, an improved damage model system is certainly required. Our team has diligently been working on this new and improved system and it will entail the following features:

We have moved from tracking 30 damage variables to several hundred damage variables. This includes such variables as each airframe spars, engine components, fuel tanks, oil, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, control surfaces, ammo boxes, etc.

All elements have unique durability values that are used calculate of bullet penetration into the structure

There will be no more statistical accumulation of damage, so for example, you can't tear off a wing by simply shooting at its tip

All elements can now be torn off by destroying their attachment points or airframe elements (wing spars for example)

Damage can be distributed from one element to another by fire

All liquids will flow out from holes, and this will result in decreasing effectiveness of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

It will start out on WWII aircraft, but then most likely become the standard for all units in DCS. It will take time and when there is more news on it, they will let us know.

Yes, we will get the Software Updates on Wednesday - if the News also come, we will see.

Next week we are moving our product code updates to Wednesdays instead of Fridays. After all, who wants to suffer with a covfefid build all weekend in case of a bad update bug?

I do believe we are getting product code updates only on Wednesday. The news may still be reserved to Fridays still. Not certain of this, but that's the way I read it. Either way happy Wednesday to everyone.
