SHARP pod

Been thinking about picking up the F-18 finally, spent 12 years working on it and needed a break from it. My question is if the SHARP pod is modeled in the game?

Picture for reference

I don't know if it was installed on legacy hornets. I worked on the ATFLIR systems and had a shared spaced with a civilian that worked on them so my technical knowledge isn't there. My wife is currently going through F-18 school for O level and is going to get some more information for me.

I'll save you the trouble. 14 year Rhino maintainer and counting. SHARP pods we're only used on Super Hornets, mainly F models. Program was shut off in 2012. Never flown on a legacy as the pod was basically a gutted 480 gallon fuel tank filled with expensive cameras and other electronics. Too big for a legacy centerline.

Thanks! That makes sense, I only ever saw it on one deployment and that was in 2011. I always wondered about them though. They still teach it at F-18 school for O level maintainers.

Yeah, it's written in the contract between Boeing and Naval Education, and derives off of other qualifications etc...the schools are usually behind the curve of the fleet somewhat.

Great way to take care of that itch. I worked on the F-16 for 19 years and I love flying both the Viper and the Bug in DCS. Viper needs Mavs in the worst way tho.
