We need a map to deploy them on frist.

The normandy map is set after the invastion has already taken place and the allies are past Caen.

We don't have an Arnheim/ Market garden area map, or any other location where paratroops and glides were used.

Yes, but unfortunately the map is set well AFTER overlord, in August 1944 - based on the ALGs that area hard-coded into the map.

While I appreciate the point Phil, the map can obviously be used for mission before, during and after D-day. I can't stand the map myself for all the obvious reasons, but it is what we have and probably will have for a long time. No reason not to make the best of it's use, even if that requires imagining that the krauts owned the relevant airbases.

IF we can place user defined modern airfields, then it is a decent map as stand in for Central Europe Baltic Coast. For late Cold War, or semi-fictional end-Cold War or after Cold War end European scenarios. I have had my fill of flying over sand and rocks. Sand and rocks over Nev. Sand and rocks over PG. Well worn Georgia terrain. I have old , late 1970's and early-mid 1980's Cold War NATO + WP European theater. As a kid, pictures I loved the most were Harriers , Tornadoes, F-111, F-4, F-16's, flying low over dark treed and semi-urban terrain of Central Europe, Baltic coast, North Sea, in foggy, foul, wet, cold, dark, gray weather. No sun, very diffuse shadows. Or black and white high contrast European winter scenes. Once again, cold, grey, white, semi-foggy. Hills, valleys, terrain masking playland. Plus the dramatic watercolor paintings of dramatasized scenes of F-4, F-111, F-16, Jaguars, Harriers dropping cluster bombs on advancing columns of T-72s , while dodging SAMs.
