USE OF NEW SIMPLER AGM65F'S DESIGNATION

I saw Waggs video on the use of the AGM65F. He seemed to be just moving the TDC and when he let go it would try and lock. I have been using this and can move the TDC but it will not lock when I stop its movement. It will only lock when I press the TDC down button. Is this correct now so slighty different to wags video.

Same, you have to TDC down to lock. Otherwise it works great. I like it. It doesn’t wander off for a second while searching for target. You can easily fire +1 in one pass.

Hi Guys I have been trying to get the AGM 65 F to lock and launch, here is what I have found, After warm up timer has expired and AG selected and ARM is activated, DDI left and sensor to left control I can move the TDC no problem but it will drift a bit. However to get the sucker to lock and launch, (after watching Wags video) it just would not work. I just tried to move TDC over TGT, Depress TDC lock finally got the HUD to remove the (X) off the MAV indicator on HUD, no LKD indication but the sucker locked and left the rails. So for my warthog I HAVE TO SLEW, lOCK TGT, THEN FIRE IT WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICLY After launch it returns to caged position and you have to sight again.

Just my two cents

Just flew another msn and this time the triangle locked out near the FOV for the HUD, control was at first vertical once near HUD ladder and center the Horizontal movement broke lose, got to aim on TGT pushed TDC and no lock. Passed over the island line up on a ship switched to ship mode locked (no X ) and still no lock indication and fired no problem. Roll around back toward the island locked up TGT after struggling to get the triangle on the tgt, depressed TDC and nothing, no lock, no lock indication did not fire. rolled around again 10 mi out struggled with aim marker again, got it centered, depressed TDC, got a lock this time after switching from BLK back to White and fired and off it went. I think there is a problem or too with the AGM 65F, just my option, even the snakeyes , and the slick MK 82 are a little dicey to use.

Again just my two cent

Working as he describes in his video for me, although you CAN push the button to try and lock again as well. What helped me make it work like Wags video was adjusting my curves and dead zones. I know with my Warthog TDC, it's really jumpy and touchy, so adding the dead zone seemed to help let it sit long enough to lock if that makes sense.

Edit: pushing the TDC to lock might not actually be working, but only seem like it, have to recheck. I am told it shouldn't, only hovering over the target should lock.

What curve and deadzone settings are you using. I have a large deadzone already. Maybe I need to only adjust the curves.

I'm still tuning but right now on Joy_X I have a curve of -15 and a dead zone of 5, On Joy_Y I have a curve of 30 and dead zone of 5.

I think the Warthog TDCs can be very different controller to controller, so best to play with it and find what works best for you.

That is not the issue. It doesn't work using another controllers axis or using a hat switch, either. It will not auto lock for several of us here.

Ok, I got it nailed down now guys, looks like something didnt merge over correctly, so you have the new TDC option, but locking is working like the previous version. So this is reported, and hopefully can be merged with next OB. Internally it works fine just hovering over a target and leaving it more 1+ seconds, it locks up.

Warthog TDC slew working with Radar but NOT with Mav

I've been trying out the option to use the Warthog micro stick for the TDC slew and it has been working, but now I am trying it with the Maverick it doesn't respond. It's not a problem with the switch as it still slews as it should with the Radar, so I'm obviously setting something up incorrectly in the jet. Any ideas anyone. :(

Should have added that the cursor in the Maverick does not move with the keyboard inputs either.

you have to assign the TDC to the DDI which you're using with the MAV.

I.E. if you're using the left DDI for the MAV, move the sensor switch to the left to assign the TDC to the left DDI. You'll see a diamond on the top right corner to the DDI indicating that the TDC is now assigned to that DDI ;)

Also, by default (as it is in the actual jet) you have to hold the TDC depress in order to slew the MAV. There's a hardware issue in the TM Warthog that makes that not work correctly, so there's an option in the special options menu for the Hornet for 'Unrealistic TDC Slew' which changes the functionality so that you can slew the MAV freely.

Thanks Yes I have the TDC assigned to the Mav shown by the diamond and I also have the "unrealistic slew" set in the special options, but still it will not slew.

Are you designating the initial area of interest for the MAV as a target? If so you need to press the undesignate button first then the MAV will slew.

Still not been addressed.

Personally, I have no problem with the 'realistic' option on the TM Warthog. Instead of using the nipple control, assign the TDC cursor to the hat next to it, and use the TDC depress (which I have bound to TMS down) and everything works fine. Just release the TDC depress when over the target and it locks.

I have no hat or buttons left which i could use. The "realistic" option works so far but i had to sacrifice a button i would like to use otherwise. I already have a deadzone of 20(!), axis tuning does nothing for me.

What do you have that hat set to?

Personally, I have never got on with the nipple control. Always been problematic no matter what aircraft I have tried to use it in. Just way too sensitive for fine adjustments.

Since u also own a Worthog i assume you are refering to the coolie hat, which is my weapon selection switch. I know the slew is a pain in the a** but i got it working for all my modules. The mav is the only thing that bothers me the way it currently is. If it finally works like Wags advertised im happy :joystick:

Yep, the coolie hat. I use the DMS switch on the stick for weapon select.

In fact, with the exception of the paddle switch which I always use as a lever, then I am using the setup recommended in Chuck's Guide.
