DCS World environmental shaders mod

Recommended Posts

These .fx modifications are a progression from the original cloud shader mod, they now encompass the sky, clouds, terrain etc - be aware that this mod gets regular updates as new discoveries/tweaks are made!

See attachment below, installation is pretty straight forward - just unrar the package and copy the folders into the DCS World directory.

NOTE: these modifications are Integrity Check compatible with basically all servers so they're safe to use online.

******DO NOT USE WITH DCS WORLD 1.5 - only for 1.2.xx versions!******

Just had a look at the mod in a quick f-15 mission and, I must say very good work Mustang. I like the contrast the clouds have now.

Thank you and highly recommendable to others!

EDIT:

Different cloud sizes would be awesome. lurking for an update :thumbup:

Mustang you have made a great work with this mod.

Sunsets and downs are simply outstanding now. I love it.

Thanks a lot for your efforts to make a better DCSW every day.

Ah, there it is. I will try this out right away. Thanks!

EDIT: First impression is that I think they are probably a little too dark...? Looking down from above should be white rather than grey.

Much depends on the sun positioning, what time of day were you viewing the clouds at? also the season/sun angle makes the clouds appear darker.

P.S if you guys want to try your own edit you can by looking at lines 419 and 432 in cldDraw.fx (open and edit with Notepad++)

float3 finclr=((t1*pix_const6+r0))*(0.05+0.75*grad)*cldclr;

the parts in bold are the controls for the cloud luminance and tones

Out.cOut.w=min(t2.w*t3.w*1.5,1);

again the part in bold controls the density of the cloud, by lowering and raising this value.

Very nice looking pictures Mustang. Will create a lot more gaming immersion for sure. Looking forward the next release package. :thumbup:

Together with the excellent ground texture mod from Toby23, DCS really made a huge step forward. (Who needs "Edge" anymore btw? :music_whistling:)

A big thanks to all Mod creators, DCS definitely wouldnt be the same without your great work and effort!

Cheers!
