First, i think these Q&A's are extremely valuable for the community to get an inside in the "bigger plan" - very big thanks for that

 

 

The Question:

 

 

I would like to know if ED plans to release future aircraft possibly with upgrade packs or release upgrade packs for them. E.g. with the announced F-16C there are so many different versions out there. Will this be handled like with the Hornet, that ED pics a specific Airframe from a specific Lot of a specific Block or will these over time highly upgraded airframes be sold with the possibility of bying certain upgrade packs as addons?

Tengo un problema con el Editor de misiones de la Open Beta

Debido a un problema con mi PC ,me vi obligado a reinstalar de nuevo la Open Beta

Pero me llevo una sorpresa relacionada co el apartado " Editor de misiones / Estructuras " , donde solamente me aparecen unas seis unidades , y no hay manera de que se corrija , aunque le active el " Reparar " , por lo que ruego me den soluciòn al problema

I would like to hear about virtual reality and multi-crew developments.

 

Is there anything about plans for a DCS or flaming cliffs level experiences involving aircraft like a AH1 cobra or A6 intruder that involve a more hands multiplayer experience? (Other than the back seat L39)

 

Netcode and sync issues that limit such capability?

Will the huey and gazelle have proper vr suppprt for the doorgunners, let alone the multiseat slots them selves?

 

As a oculus rift user, i am dying to have a this kind of experience.. to promote online play and virtual reality.

 

Speaking of virtual reality.. i hope we can have the mouse right click function.. is there anything beyond for VR motion controls for in game functionality?

Recently on about 5/14/2018 ED posted an add in russian looking for an experienced RTS developer. Is Eagle Dynamics planning on hiring that party on to work on Dynamic campaigns or improvements to the Mission Editor?

Wouldn't mind c0ff or Chizh, just to get the nuts and bolts architecture of DCS, and maybe how it has evolved over time from Flanker (if Chizh was around back then)

 

Also the vision for the future DCS architecture. I see hints of a general Server/Client model being pursued, but overall it'd be nice to know a bit of technical detail as to how it all hooks together (not that I'm at all technical when it comers to programming).

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

What other visual effects does ED have in mind for the future?

I'm curious if there are plans to improve sensor modelling (especially for air-to-air missiles).

 

I'm also curious if FC4 will give some burst height or ripple controls for existing aircraft (e.g. setting the burst height for RBK cluster bombs).

Are there any plans to make non-flying roles more of a thing in DCS? How about boom operator in a tanker, LSO on the carrier, expansions to Combined Arms, better human driven ATC/JTAC?

 

Also, on the technical side, a way to export viewports over the network would be awesome for simpits.

Despite being a community member for 8 years now, I hardly know anyone from the ED/TFC team, or what they do exactly. And that's mostly because they're usually more active in the Russian part of the forum (or not active at all, AFAICT). So how about someone who introduces the team to us? *Then* I might be able to tell you whom I'd like to ask some questions in the next Q&A. :smartass:

 

Other than that, I'd really like to know more about the strategic decisions, maybe shedding some light on how much TBS and DCS are alike and how they're different, how DCS development has been driven by necessity vs. free choice, and an outlook on the plans for the next 2, 5, 10 years. I'd certainly have some questions for someone with an insight in this area. :)

Ok, late to the party, but giving it a shot.

I would love to get some more info on the plans with the AI and weapons (damage) effects on models.

Everything that makes the sandbox alive for missions, campaigns, PvE multiplayer etc.

 

After the merge into 2.5.x and a lot of new modules, maps assets and campaigns are here and still coming, what are the plans for an overhaul of the "AI redfor".

 

From the A-10A in Lock On, the Ka-50 Black Shark and DCS:A-10C to the upcoming F/A-18C the ground war with strikes, CAS and fighting in a vivid battlefield was a strongpoint of DCS.

 

What can we expect under the hood, apart from the visual improvements? Which are definitely fantastic, but just the visual shell of all the AI and mission building that makes DCS World a Digital "Combat Simulator", not just another flight sim.

Joining The Dots.

 

Not sure who would deal with this... Wags or Nick, but a little idea. New Caucasus is out, PG map is out. Not all of us are wannabe fighter jocks and looking for a quick kill before ones coffee goes cold.

Are there any plans to join PG to Caucasus with a high res flight corridor? Does not have to be a full terrain, just maybe a 40km wide low res corridor that looks good at 15000ft and maybe a 10km wide inner corridor with detail for low level flight and some air bases to land and refuel on.

 

Also, having ejected on the apron at Creech,purely to walk around the aircraft and base, I was gobsmacked at the detail, even a considerable way from the flightline, as I waited to cross roads after traffic passed by. Dodged various types of service hardware, and negotiated my way past various linked fenced enclosures.

 

 

It struck me that perfect immersion would build on this aspect. Imagine a human squad, or a single player set up with wingman, getting a brief ( and a chance at socialising) in a ready room, getting allocated aircraft numbers and then taking a leisurely 5 minute stroll to the apron with his squad mates, or even jumping into the back of a bread van to ride to the flight line, locate the allocated aircraft and climb aboard.

The detail is already there, the animations are not. Similarly, egressing the aircraft without ejecting in a similar fashion would be nice.

 

Any plans on this?

What are the plans going forward with things like: Bomb/rocket damage (fragmentation/splash, increased aoe), missile/gun damage and missile FM. Jdam advanced FM (it actually decelarates while falling). Multiplayer performance (dedicated servers?). Updates on the visibility plans now that the new engine is here.

1) How is the damage model for WWII aircraft coming along? When do you expect we'll get to see it in game?

 

2) Will we see WWII aircraft included in your next batch of Flaming Cliffs style (non-clickable cockpit) aircraft?
