F/A-18C Armament Thread

Given that the pilot has deployed it to defend his aircraft and himself and is very likely to be concentrating hard on that, I'd guess that it would be most likely to follow a preprogrammed path, to negate the need for manual control. Especially if the aircraft is able to launch multiple TALDs.

TL;DR - will the Hornet have napalm on release? If yes, will napalm be available for other aircraft? (eg. the F-5)

It actually can... but you can only mount TALDs on the BRU-42 TER.

IMHO the VER is so much better, yes, you'd carry 2 instead of 3, but it's not draggy as the TER.

Hornet itself is already pretty draggy. Mounting a TER with 3 bombs on it wouldn't be interesting (although it's not an option).

But you'll have MER and VER. Which is pretty cool too!

BRU-41

Does anybody know if they removed the BRU-41 carrying Mk-82s from the possible loadouts of the Hornet?

Because on some early screenshots and videos I saw it carrying mk-82s on that MER, and now in the new videos it can seemingly only be equiped with BDU-33s

I wouldn't draw conclusions from a pre-release dev build, they take things out and add them again constantly. I think they even broke the carrier between versions, nothing odd for a dev build.

We'll see for ourselves what's in and what isn't in just a few short weeks.:joystick:

Is DCS F/A-18 able to carry Sparrows on pylons 3 & 7?

Mountable on every pylon save for the centerline and wingtips. Unsure about the numbers on the Hornet.

To be clear as the pilot sits in the cockpit port will be to his left and starboard to the right, correct?

Yes, remember, the right is on staRRRboard.

Been in the boat business for 35 years, I find in a world of people who can't tell left from right that port and starboard are a whole new level of facepalm. The fellow I was asking is also a boat person so I don't question whether he knows which is the pointy end, sometimes however port or starboard are used absolutely on objects which are set on the boat in various orientations which can themselves alone have a port and starboard side. It wouldn't make sense here but I wanted to verify.
