give some love to the Kurfürst model

I wouldn't be surprised if it will be updated at one point or another, ED seem to do this. I guess it depends how long they plan to officially support it. I used to think the IL2 Cliffs of Dover models looked amazing, but not anymore. Someone in an earlier post commented on not updating as it will adversely affect performance. Poly count doesn't really have the same impact as shaders and fill rate, so I wouldn't worry about poly count too much :)

No doubt that down the road it could see an update, but right now, getting to the great merge and getting other things down are going to be higher priority.

I still dont see anything high-priority that they should stop and redo or go over the model.

So, for you, this is acceptable for DCS standard? Just to know. I'm not talking about Daimler Benz sound that's is a dead horse, but at least, here, we have some very good mods.

What I SAID was its not going to be a high priority, meaning they have many things going on right now before they revisit this model.

I also SAID I dont see anything that takes away from my personal enjoyment of the module.

As for the sounds, they were recorded from a 109, no not a K, but from an actual 109, but that is sort of OT here isnt it.

If you give this kinde of answer, is not more an OT, but probaly an answer also for the 3D problem.

I don't know if you are really interested in WW2, i don't think so, but an answer like this about DB, believe me, is not really acceptable like the low quality of this K4 module....low quality for DCS standard off course.

Normandy is close to be released, and we are talking about Messerschimitt. This is more than an high priority.

Actually I am very interested in WWII, and the 109 is probably my favorite module aside from the Spitfire (I helped with a lot of the research on the 109). I am just trying to explain to you what is happening and how it likely wont be addressed right now.

I dont think the K4 model is low-quality, that picture you posted, how often are you flying it from that position?

As I said... the model might get cleaned up in the future, its just not happening now.

Seriously, when you zoom in so much to see this mesh level of detail, I don't understand why you're not alarmed by the texture's pixels that are much more evident from a so close viewpoint…

Is it really an issue ? The Ka-50 cockpit is in a worst condition, and there are other meshes that desperately need love since 2004's Lock On days… Development is obviously too slow to refresh every module every time something new raises the bar a little bit higher.

I keep forgetting how many people collect these virtual planes to simply "look" at them. I for one couldn't care less about the fidelity of the 3d model, apart from the cockpit, where I spend all of my time when I'm flying.

It's definitely not as high up on the list as proper system modeling, damage modelling, flight model fidelity, visibility etc. etc. etc.

Im in complete agreement with Sith here, ED and their 3d modelers are probably busy with the WWII asset pack, and IMO that is rightfully much higher priority than a few jaggies on parts of a 3d model which can't even be seen from the cockpit. And even then you need to be really zoomed in to see the difference.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Why? because

1) Textures could be redone by users, the model not

2) you don't even need to zoom in to see the spots were there are fewer polys

Modellers does not work on this stuff, you should know it.

A lot of people is really interested in DCS WW2, even if does not read this forum. So this is what we'll answer them about K4, yes..."dark side pilots off course:

- DB sound: the worst ever but Stuka here did an amazing job, so...we can live with this;

- 3D model: the worst ever in DCS planeset;

- DM.....some news here, at least, would be good. Actually, DM is missed as for the other WW2 models, so np here.

We'll answer also that ultra detailed models of WW2 assets actually are more important than K4, and that we just need to wait, may be, some more years to have a K4 model with the same level of DCS Spitfire.

Not very good news for dark side pilots, not at all.

We don't have understood at that time the importance of a good DB sound for a 109 module, and we don't get the same now for 3D model.

...so, sorry to say this, but this is a very low quality 109 module for DCS standard.

Nothing more to say about it.

Please don't speak for all DCS 109 owners, as one of them, and a frequent flier I am very happy with the sound and model, the DM needs love, and I have been a big advocate of that (which in fact does require a modeller to work on by the way)

If you are happy with the default DB sound, sorry dude, but you are not credible anymore, really. If you say that you are a 109 lover, you should have to be the first one to complain about DB sound, that's just unspeakable.

We did talk about DB sound problem a lot of time ago, sorry but we can't give up this time too.

This 109 is not in the standard DCS quality level, only the price is.

Thank Stuka if some people is still buying this K4 module.

I have seen the steps ED has gone through to record the sound for the 109, I am satisfied that its a quality sound. I know a lot of people are hung up on YouTube sounds, and thats fine, sound is pretty personal, I am saying I am happy with what they have done.

I am not sure who you are to say I am not credible, but if you continue to make this personal, it will end this discussion, try and post in a mature manner... dude.

O.T.

Nothing personal, don't worry, but speaking between 109 lovers, as you say, it sounds a bit strange to me. Personally i've given it up because DCS K4 DB sound, and i've begun to feel like there was not a real ED interest in the K4 module (and WW2 may be) if not just to recover.......what we know.

Beying a 109 lover myself too, i have always considered the "whistling" DB sound as the most important feature of the 109 itself. There's not 109 without a whistling compressor sound, at least for me. I've reinstalled it, just only because of the great Stuka's sound mod (2.0).

Now we know that probably we'll not see the 3D model updated too.... I'm not happy really.

This speaking between 109 lovers, sorry for the OT.

109 and DCS....we need more than this K4 module. Really i'm not satisfied, not this time.

You are absolutely wrong, Yo-Yo for example is very into WWII fighters, and has been incredible invested in all these planes, including the 109. ED has put together a team that is very interested in bringing WWII to DCS, and they are very dedicated to doing the best they can. Also, lets not forget, ED is owned by TFC, they happen to know a thing or two about WWII aircraft.

I have seen this with every module, look at the A-10C, the people that enjoy and love that module are frustrated that it doesnt get all the love they think it deserves, but be realistic, if they stay and spend all their time on old modules and dont push the sim forward, ED just wont be here.

If you are that unhappy with the 109 module, then there isnt really anything I can say or do to make you happy. They update what they can when they can, but I just cant see stopping new stuff to go back right now to the 109, the model and sounds are very good compared to anything out there right now.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have to add, saying that ED isnt interested in the K4 or WWII is really insulting to the people busting their butts on these products, those that have been released and those still to come.

Insulting or not, that was my opinion at that time, and i'm still surprised everytime i read these statements about DB sound, but it doesn't matter anymore.

How to make me happy...hoooo, you know it, look at the Spitfire, how incrediblly amazing it is...but i'm not a Spitfire lover....

Speaking seriuosly, i can only hope for an upgrade in the future, may be with a 100% DCS G-10 module.

Ok, lets go there, what are your experiences with the engine on the 109?

And wow, you dump all over their work on the K-4, then expect them to make a G-10? How does that work? LOL.

LOL! Well since Dead Horses do not make any sounds and since we don't have any (yet)...I would have to say Yes! They are correct.

Well I have watched the Walking Dead, dead stuff does make noises when you hit it :)

Good point! So there were cases of strafing Horses in WWII.

I guess strafing a dead bloated horse would make a nasty air/gas release noise.

So now we have to combine the DB Whine with that?

Sorry for going into rant mode again (it has been happening quite a bit lately; I guess I'm getting grumpier with age...) but since people apparently spend more time looking at the model in the model viewer than actually flying it (hint: the canopy is something you look through, not at), get yourselves a parametric CAD application (like solidworks, or fusion360 which is free), learn the basics, and build a model of whichever plane you want to look at. Then you can look at beautiful curved edges until your eyes pop out. Or even better, start building models, and then you can obsess over minute details that will never be visible to anyone with the other rivet counters.

[rant mode off]
