Virpil throttle curves?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to get the throttle detent to match military power but I ended up with a -85 curve. This makes it too unresponsive with low throttle. Any tips on how to do this properly?

IMHO, Eagle Dynamics should implement a new setting for a Throttle axis settings, called "After Burner Range".

How it would work?

You would be able to set value range from MAX toward center of axis scale. And when the throttle will reach to that zone, it will ignite afterburner in the module.

So it is little bit like a automatic throttle scaling where the normal range will then be mapped from IDLE to MIL power, and the

Other (likely better) would be that you move the throttle to position that you want to be the max "MIL", and then you click a button and it will map that new point to there. And it will then be automatically set so that when the throttle reaches that point, it goes to afterburner mode after that. And then of course there needs to be a Deadzone setting for that as well, so you can overcome a physical dent in throttle before the afterburner gets activated.

The detend will only last you a few weeks, then you can open the throttle, turn the detend arround and you will have another few weeks. Virpils new throttles don't ship with detends anymore, they can't build a proper mechanic for that, better get used to no detend. Saves you a lot of trouble.

Which version of the throttle? I have the v3 with the 3d printed detent and I'm inverted with curve set to -25 and seems good enough to me.

I was at -20 bit the afterburner kept "sticking" on the right engine when coming off back to mil power. Still notice to some degree and chalking it up to the removed connection sensor since the right throttle is sometimes slightly ahead of the left

I have a v1 and don’t use curves, just moved the detent to a position that seems to work not only for AB, but also full mill on the Harrier and max safe on the Huey.

I don't know. How do you tell? Mine doesn't say anything about v#'s. It only says serial number 320. The detent on mine feels pretty good though. It is sturdy and no signs of wear. I've had it at least a year. It needed to be set up again because I bought the VFX and it needed a newer software to work.

My afterburner doesn't kick in on the Tomcat until about halfway between the detent and max throttle.

Thanks, I had no idea it had that feature.
