I use windows 8.1 for DCS and Linux for net access with VMware Worskstation 12 and openSUSE.

Sticking with Win 7 - 64 bit because of FSX and IL-2. I have issues with letting go Haha! Don't judge me :) I just threw away my European Air War, Falcon 2.0, FC 2 CDs earlier this year - spring cleaning my wife called it. It was a very sad day for me.

can run FSX and Il2 on 64 bit windows 10.

I'm using Win10. For the most part... I'm good with it. One thing for certain though, I don't think I experienced a BSOD from XP through the end of my use of Win7 a year ago or so. Now, not so much. How does MS go about taking a perfectly good product all the way to jacked up crap, so fluidly?

I notice WIn7 is by far the most popular in this vote. Would someone care to tell me why, or what advantages there are to 7 currently.

Only "bad habits" :). Resistance to new ... and of course fear that NSA will spy our computers :D

I am with 10 and I see no reason why should I still be in 7.

BSODs? I said it with other occasion,, saying now again: there is no vendor in this world able to have a perfect OS on the multitude of peripherals that are now on market. Maybe is not appropriate to give example the Android OS... but well.. have a look .... an multiply the components permutations by 100000,,,

I'm impressed how fast the Win 8.1 proportion has been reduced so much in general. But why ?

Because I believe most of those users who upgraded from 7 to 8 and then to 8.1, are the users who like to embrace the new ... so its natural that most of them would try to upgrade to 10.

On the other hand, users who still use Win7 are those that dont like change for change's sake and need a real reason for doing an OS upgrade; if they didnt change to 8, most likely wont want to change to 10 either.

Im probably on the minory, I actually like 8.1 ... tried Win 10 but didnt like its quirks, like having little control over the Windows Update ... so I turned back to 8.1 (actually to the server version of 8.1, that I use for work reasons).

I've just found this rather old thread (voted for W10) and surprised this OS hasn't got higher results.

I don't know whether the amount of votes in favour of W7 would still be so far ahead of W10 if this poll was re-run 7 yrs on?

Maybe it's time to start the poll again?

Well, I was trying Win10 for several month now since the Anniversary Update and went back to my old Win7 installation as Microsoft is producing more trouble with every update they roll out. At least on my laptop I am forced to use Win10 but even on this build to use Win 10 machine I had to revert back from Creators Version to the former because they put in a lot of crappy generic drivers with the last update that even killed the brand new NVIDIA driver and the manufactorer provided chipset drivers in my system. As soon as Micrsoft gets its stuff sorted with their crappy update policy I will try Win10 again ... until then I'd rather stick to the rock solid Win7 system that meets my needs totally.
