David OC
why do not we create a petition? we want vulkan optimization before modules! More engineers / coders working on separating and implementing vulkan does not equal faster and more optimized code. The guy's / small close nit team could have been working on this for years separating DCS. To get others up to speed would take a long time and or end up with a big mess trying to speed things up. This needs to be done right for the future of DCS and dynamic campaigns etc. DCS is still great now if you have a half decent system. They should take their time and get it right. i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. The Falcon
Modules pay for Vulcan optimisation . What you mean? and it depends on how much optimization we get. 100%? i’m in. 20%? i’m out. you should still be inside for only 20% ...does not equal faster and more optimized code. This needs to be done right for the future of DCS and dynamic campaigns etc. DCS is still great now if you have a half decent system. They should take their time and get it right. exactly will serve for the dynamic campaign. they must both redo and optimize the code from the base. currently it is not playable with the vr unfortunately. For this reason I asked for a petition, to be able to have as soon as possible an improvement even for those who use the vr.
The Falcon
think about what would be useful to optimize the code of the dynamic campaign on dx11 when you can do it with vulkan. I think vulkan must be first or i will begin to think that they make arrangements to sell more to intel and nvidia components.

Aluminum Donkey
Bought a new system. question is will DCS run with Directx 12? Found out that FSX will not, so it made me question if DCS will be able to. Thanks. No. DCS World 2.5.x is only DirectX 11. ED is working on implementing Vulkan. Give it, oh, maybe 1 to 3 years, maybe more. It's a whole re-write of the core graphics engine and all the shaders, and that kind of thing takes forever and a week. HiJack
Why Vulkan instead of DX12? ED goes for Vulkan as this supports much of the old GPU's where many of the players are.
JOKERACTS
with adding Vulcan support, I suggest to retain the DirectX 11 and upgrade it to DirectX 12. David OC
Why Vulkan instead of DX12? If you code for DX12 you cut out all the other windows versions available, Vulkan will still work. with adding Vulcan support, I suggest to retain the DirectX 11 and upgrade it to DirectX 12. Add dual rendering configuration support to allow user to switch between Vulcan or DirectX. my gameplay video on current release version: https://www.youtube.com/user/jokeracts  :D Sounds very expensive / double the work. I and i'm betting ED thinks the http://www.khronos.org royalty-free open standards is a better way to go then to be stuck with MS and Win 10. Mr_sukebe
ED have already stated their intent to use Vulkan and I believe said that the next step was to replace textures. That’s probably why we’ve had the odd issue recently with missing textures, eg gun mounts on Huey, RB15. I’m very much expecting at least an initial Vulkan implementation this year, followed by optimisation.
