SkyGambler
FA18C's max speed at sea level is 1.1 Mach, but now in dcs you can easily reach 1.25+ by dropping your pylons. is it a bug?

SacredRaziel
Just because you can does not mean you should. Overspeeding airframes is a thing and can cause compressor stalls or structural damage. I assume that applys to the 18 aswell. Simulator sided I read (about the jeff) that they had some issues limiting the top speed because of dcs engine restrictions. Might apply here aswell. Obviously, changing the configuration of the aircraft to one with less mass and drag will increase the maximum attainable speed. The question is, what configuration is the limit you mention, referring to? That and Vmax and maximum attainable speed, are two different things, as SacredRaziel says. Flamin_Squirrel
what is the source of this claim? It's a limitation stated in the NATOPS.
Mandellorian
Almost all modern aircraft (70`s onward) Hit a MAX Q KIAS limit or component temperature limit well before drag/thrust would stop them accelerating. The Hornet doesn`t come with a speed limiter..so if a pilot isn`t paying attention you can exceed VNE, in real life the airframe people would probably be yelling for your head while they do the overstress checks.
