Kernel memory leaking on Intel processors

Its the driver code .. that runs on the CPU that is at issue is it not ?

Marketing department @ Intel are geniuses. More so than their Engineers in the last 4 years.

Zero IPC gains in that Time frame and bad rep, sales stagnating. So what do you do to create demand while technically beaten by AMD rivals? Let everyone know about a bug they only knew for the longest of time that affects performance of their older CPU's. So much so that AMD themselves with global foundries backing them up cannot keep up with the surge.

Clients- "ooh, 8th gen. So what? we're sitting pretty on our Haswell and broadwell machines, FU intel!"

Intel-" well, FU back. All those processors are bugged, good luck haha!"

CLients- "well, we're just going to buy Epyc then, Bye!"

AMD- *scotty accent* she's givin all shes got capt'n she canae hold any longer!" *holding onto the Coffe machine steaming loudly and shaking on its stand*

I havent gotten any patch yet from windows 10. Is that normal?

It's KB4056892 for Win 10 and KB4056894 for Win 7 respectively. You could check your update history and see if it's in there already. I've got a 3570K and received that update for Win 7 already.

Today I just read that SSD IOPS are cut by half due to that update. That's massive. Also, AMD CPUs are indeed vulnerable to Branch Target Injection (Spectre variant 2). After all, Spectre hasn't been "fixed" yet. And it's up to the hardware guys to do that. I highly doubt I'll get a BIOS update for my board (GA Z77 D3H). The most recent one is dated 2014-01-07, just a tad more than 4 years now, and it's even beta and never got a release version.

I really wonder how much impact this has on DCS. I didn't really do benchmarks, but yesterday after updating, I had 40-70fps in 1.5.8 where I was used to 70-120. But that also could be caused by the Harrier which is in early access after all.

It was released out of sequence as KB4056897, or as part of the monthly rollup KB4056894.

Meltdown protection can be disabled by uninstalling the update or with registry settings (the method of this tool). Of course you will need restart after every change.

About Spectre, I'm not sure how it will be with bios update, but you can check.

Yea, temporarily botched some fan control software from asus too, but they patched it pretty quick.
