I would like to see a link to a duty Mod who we could contact for urgent information when no one else seems available.

I don't think the moderators work that way.

Most of the moderators are volunteers or ED team, there is no duty mod as we all share the tasks.

If you have a question that can not be answered on the forum PM any of the moderators and we will answer as soon as we can.

I'd like to request a VR subforum. With the release of the Rift and Vive, there's a lot to talk about. With everything crammed into the couple megathreads, it's hard to keep track of the different topics.

That is not a bad idea now we have 2 consumer versions out there. I will ask

I like to suggest a sub forum “Squadron Directory” sub forum created in "Multiplayer"and move all Squadron threads there. Each squadron could have their own information thread that would make it easy for new players to quickly see what squadrons is active.

Is it possible to do some clean up on "sticky" threads all over the forums.eagle.ru, because some of those are long time obsolete. Some others that concern site rules and similar issues could be moved to another, new, subforum, but there are things marked "sticky" that really clutter (sub)forums.

Here's a clean example: Obsolete and there are many more that are obsolete in different ways.

A dark theme style (we can choose from) for the forum would be greatly appreciated by user's eyes in the event of logging in at nightly hours.

A dark room and bright screen do not do well in the transitioning :)

I'm still advocating for a dark theme!

If ED want the CSS I modified, I've attached it

+1, I agree

Oh boy, yes, yes, I would love a modern theme, current is so old no disrespect but its not modern enough to look at.

I would also add more to the Forum more Community functionality where people can meet and discuss many things as a "Global Forum Community", it is to restricted for a Global Forum, sadly.

It needs to include other interests in a "OFF-TOPIC CHIT CHAT Section" like sports, careers, outings a little more freedom to mingle with people and Chit-Chat, "O'Club Style", if you like.:smilewink:

Also a "Developer Corner" where developers can share stuff openly like a dedicated area for Development Road Map - https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=186909

Also a better thought out area for Community Modding and Tools for creativity and projects.

The way to grow communities is to make things fun interesting and creative and be more open to it. This genre of gaming needs to open up more and really accept change in a "Global Forum Atmosphere" that does mean adding more freedoms to express who you are what you like and enjoy the sim other games and real life. Yeah sure game/sim comparisons is rule breaking but share what you like isn’t. Also age group is important and growth potential as well.

Many other game sites like EAGames FIFA I visit here:- http://fifaforums.easports.com/en/

Age group should be from 18 to 70 years of age.

Yeah, I am a member there also but I don't like the Forum setup there as much either, its like a shoe string of threads not as appealing or user friendly.

However, I did like FF and FFOSP Forum format they were far better to chill and discuss the actual sim you're into or support and thats the point, "the community where you are at"!

Again, point is change is needed its boring and to tense in DCS and some other places as well need more life and interaction with developers freedoms etc

Its a "Global Community Forum", in the modern free world so to speak, enough said!

Now if you were to tell me...... "Its just not the right time for this" ....... I could agree with you there, but to shoulder shrug and say go there, does not cut it with the entire sim world.

I know that much through PM + email discussions, sadly.

Many want to just have fun, relax and see good development, hence why its like this now....................

Capture01_zpsl8sodyre.jpg

Sad really sad and its to boring and very tense.

346080.png

Maybe in future things will change, but I don't see why not now really its just a game in the end people are so naive on this "Sim or Game" I couldn't care less for the nonsensical debate that has existed in some individuals, get over your egos!

I just don't agree with allot of things that are going on, but I say no more, it is what it is!

Also people do what they like in their way of thinking anyway

Additional Sorting In User Files

I think it would be nice to sort user files by popularity or most downloaded rather than oldest or newest. Because finding the most popular and usually the best mods is quite difficult at the moment.

So I see this a lot around here and it's given me an idea. We have "Posting Rights Suspended" and "Posting Rights Revoked", right? Surely, posting in these forums is a privilege and not a right. Maybe the aforementioned titles should reflect that?

I saw in the latest update for A-10C v1.1.1.0 there is mention that the manual has been updated...

My suggestion would be that you would put a revision number or date on the "Documentation" download section of the main DCS website. It's very difficult to tell if the manuals have been updated or revised without downloading the full file. Even with the file downloaded, the revisions are not clear and are not noted anywhere I've been able to see (Headers/Footers/References).

I could of course be mistaken and please correct me if I am, but I think this should be an easy task and I am surprised it hasn't been done yet.

*ugh* This is still an issue.

Dear ED,

this is an extremely important aspect of documentations. If you've made a change to a manual, I assume there must be a reason for having done so. Without publishing date, version number, and a list of changes in your manuals, your customers have no way of knowing if they are up-to-date with their documentations and knowledge.

I implore you to please consider to at least starting to document version numbers and publishing dates in your manuals. There's no time like the present.

I have a few suggestions.

  • The Unit* select box on the submit user file page should rather be a multiselect feature of some sort where you could tick flyable modules in the mission.

  • File type "Single mission" should be renamed "Singleplayer mission".

  • The user files page should really have the possibility to sort search results on number of downloads. This would make it easy to find the most popular files.

Think it has been suggested previously but in any case - it would be extremely helpful to be able to view the user files section by date of last update rather than date of creation. An example of this is reflected's excellent new P51 Caen mission which was created in user files about a week back but then updated on the 27/12/17. Except for him posting up an advisory there is no way for users to find out there has been an update unless they go and actually check the user file entry. Now expand this to the normal amount of downloads most users have from user files. I know I have probably 100's of skins and missions etc - while I check for new things in user files constantly I just don't have time to recheck entries for things I have downloaded to see if there is an update. It should just be a new database view made available to the web page and it is obvious the data already is held so I believe it would be a reasonably simple change to implement. Could ED please consider looking into this?

Thanks,

Stonehouse

Hi,

Is it possible to link modules you own with forum account, since sometimes I got feeling, that some individuals including veterans one covers third party developers back, and take damage control, despite the fact that they don’t own the modules in question ?

Thanks !

Strange idea, imo tbh. You are implying that only verified module owners are supposed to have a genuine opinion on module related topics? Why? People may have knowledge and expertise concerning several topics that might show up on a specific module - why are those less worth than those of module owners?

Beyond that, there is the issue of tying the forum account to the ED account. There is a good reason that they are separate. This could, potentially, make the ED account less secure.

If you don't trust someone's opinion then this won't make any difference.

By Calibri's standard, then no one should be able to post in the F-18, Yak-52, or any other forum section that discusses an aircraft that has not yet been released.
