As mentioned in the patch notes, what is the new uncage AIM-9 behaviour?

I did a test with the 9Ms but can’t say they are acting normal. When uncaging the aim9 the seeker head should start a search pattern across its field of view. If it detects a heat source good enough it would lock unto that. Also the raw sound from the missile would indicate the status. As far as I can see it’s not possible to uncage the missile when it’s in slave mode. In bore it only follow your HMDS.

Sure, there are a load of issues with the sidewinders, but they have been reported. The most annoying for me is that the missile doesn’t uncage when in BORE mode.

In this thread, I am wondering about what the new uncage behaviour is as per today’s update changelog.

Does it uncage if you have the HMD off? I.e. scan around the hud?

I’ll post the question in the Update Patch thread. More likely to get an answer there, I guess.

I couldn't get it to uncage with or without HMDS. I had no targets to play with but as mentioned earlier no scan pattern and it (seeker diamond) won't follow the HMDS.

I'm not certain what the correct behavior is though, should it do those things?

Guys, see my post#3. Let's stay on topic here.

There are lots of issues with the sidewinder behaviour on the Viper, but this thread is about trying to find out what the change in uncage behaviour is, as stated in the latest patch notes.

Same behavior. SPOT/SCAN won't change. When uncaging diamond gets bigger but won't self-track. Oddly cursor-enable is doing something, not sure what. It should hands on select the other option BORE/SLAVE while held. No mention of TD/BP.

Not using HMCS. I'm starting from the most basic no radar, bore, spot AIM-9M/L. Getting a diamond to track a target without radar slaving isn't possible.

I can’t believe this is still going!

This thread is NOT ABOUT sidewinder issues. Things like you mentioned have been marked as reported already.

I'm describing the AIM-9 uncage behavior.

That is not what this thread is about. It is about a change in uncage behaviour that was in the patch notes originally, but then they were removed later as explained by NL.

The behaviour you described has - as I said - already been marked as reported by ED in other earlier threads.

Yes, I remember your question. I posted my general comment about this in the thread:

https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/291825-itr-and-g-onset-update-release-date/?do=findComment&comment=4887352

But the other user said that we are impatient and that we don't understand company policy...

The other said that the module itself is in early access and by definition nothing in this module is final or finished.

So, i guess we must wait...

Best regards,

falconbr

Please do not use bug reports for discussion, use the main F-16 area and a new thread.

Keep reports for the report itself.

thanks
