Just started flying in VR with a used Rift that I bought for 250€ (the guy I got it from went over to a Pimax 5k+) and what shall I say? Worth every single cent. Downed two MiG-21s in my first VR Hornet trip, one with missiles and the other in a dogfight with guns. This is such a blast... and I'm having ~45fps with mirrors off without lowering any settings, goes down to 30ish at airfields or in the vicinity of big cities. Switching them on is a hit of around 30%, so I'll just leave them off.
