Normandy Map Discussion

Saw no comments about the naval assets video. Is that water colour a new one? Is it only for harbours or the entire Channel? Just curious, it's definitely good looking, but I don't recall having read anything with regard to different water colours or any similar eye candy in the new map.

Yes, the water is new since last image/video. The water color now varies depending on the view point altitude and level of overcast. Generally, the lower and more overcast, the more green/gray the water will be, just as in real life over the channel.

Very nice, I would like to see some screens showing the water's new color behaviour...also the new waves.

Take a look at my MODS here

Anyone in the know(developers, testers, etc..), is the new water effects being driven by the PBR technology?

I have just reread the WWII assets list and realised that my favourite vehicle of all time is missing

http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/nazi_germany/SdKfz-251_Hanomag.php

I hope somewhere down the line we can get one or more of the varients that where produced

They are so cool I think my love of them came in my model making days

;)

Maybe we'll see it in "African Assets Pack Expansion"? :D

Yeah, the 251 was very common in Normandy. Hopefully we'll see it eventually. It's so cool looking as well.

No, it isn't missing.

If you check the list of future content to be included as part of the free updates to the Asset Pack you will see - amongst many other delightful offerings - the words SdKfz 251.

You won't see it on initial release apparently, but it will come... we hope.

Happy Friday ;)

Missed this for the Q&A so I'll post here..will current CA capable(modern) ground/armor work on Normandy? Have a feeling I may want to hop in a Hummer or UAZ an go for a cruise through the country side an coast9for a different perspective @ release. I know they said WW2 ground vehicles not @ release but curious about modern ones. or is it maybe a map limitation for all CA?

Yes, modern ones will work fine, and do ;)

Pretty cool stream/video. Will want to check it out again in 1080p when they upload it to youtube. It seems this will be the last stream that Matt will do before the release. (Please correct me if Im wrong about this). Nice of them to show off some AI formation flights and fights, though I would have prefered to see Matt engage one of those bombers or an escort fighter. :)

Oh well, I think it pretty much made up my mind. I'll be preordering Normandy/Asset Pack bundle, no doubt about it now. Will be installing it 2.X and switching to Nevada/Normandy, and saying goodbye to 1.5.X forever, when it hits (pre)release.

Bear in mind anyway you'll probably need stable version when 2.5 is out (whenever that happens). Current 2.0.5 is just Alpha, and who knows but I don't think that version would update to Beta, and stable as long as there are already both separated installs for those.
