Chuck's MiG-21bis Guide

Many people asked for it... so there it is. Enjoy!

NOTE:

I was wondering if the guide was "too long"... still not sure.

Needless to say... I learned quite a lot writing this guide since I knew close to nada when I started writing it. I want to give a big thumbs up to xxJohnxx, Bunyap, YoYo and of course our International Badasses and Evil Corporate Overlords friends from Leatherneck Sims. You guys all rock!

People won't fully appreciate the MiG-21 unless they really start flying it in combat scenarios. I was sceptical at first... but now it is my favourite jet in DCS so far.

After reading your F-86, I would say thank you for the Mig-21 too!

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

great document, thanks.

One thing though. I am pretty sure the BRA callouts are in feet so 11000 would be 11000 feet not 11Km. I could be wrong here but as i say i am pretty sure.

This always annoys me as the gauges on the 21 are in metres so I always have to convert.

If the AWACS is Russian is should be in KM for distance and meters for altitude.

I don't think its too long at all, its naturally longer then 15 and 86 but its a more complex fighter. Your explanations of everything are really good, the bit about flight limitations verses loadouts will help me out a lot, and I was always a little confused about ARC navigation but not no more! thanks a lot!

 Thanks for the work you put into this! Looks really good.

I personally stick to the RL Flight Instructions, even though they might not be applicable in DCS to 100%, but everyone to his own liking and this is surely a great addition. :joystick:

Awesome guide Chuck.

Just one tiny error I noticed, page 23 you've got the 'pitot heat' switch marked as 'tactical release'.

Fixed. Thank you.

@Everyone If some of you have some tips for multiplayer (or tactics in general), feel free to share them. I'll implement them in the guide.
