Wing breaking in hard turns, seriously?

Ok, now I just need to knownthe gross weight fully refueled + 4x AGM-65 + 2x Aim 9. Still, when Harrier was equipped with AIM-9, McDonnell didn't expect it to possibly also be forced into dogfights? I wonder how their AV-8B simulator deals with over G (related to wings snapping) or if there already is an audio warning when pulling over the aircraft's stress limit.

Contrary to us, the pilot will feel the G load in his seat :smilewink:

It's a weight placed somewhere in the control linkage that when subjected to acceleration(positive G) will try to push the stick back forward, which increases the stick force required to maintain that G.

The whole control linkage system is pictured on page 2-44 in A1-AV8BB-NFM-000-2011. I can't link the document due to the new forum rules.

Omg for what reason was that rule even introduced...?

Well, you could go read the thread explaining why.......

In short, just because you can find something on the internet doesn't mean it is supposed to be public access or even declassified. These are weapons and warplanes, afterall. Posting of manuals post 1980 is now forbidden.

Why? Because somebody posted classified Swedish documents on here and it brought the government down on them. Like I said, these are weapons and warplanes, these agencies permit ED to do this because of a degree of trust. Break that trust, and ED will be shut down.

Ahhh I remember, that was on the news!! What was it again, did it reveal exactly how devastating destruction a type of bomb has or what type of values (not exactly the values) were published?

And "down on them" ?? Shouldn't the government just've "... brought it down on the guy breaching the secret conduct code" of that document??? Wtf... also, how did Swedish government even find out?? o_O Seems we have at least 1 DCS fan here in forum working for Swedish counter-intelligence service xD (just interesting)

A-10C, Harrier and F-18 are also still in service... and F-18C in DCS most complex realistic programming ever in DCS history (after A-10C). Also isn't the archive to blame, not the innocent player who posted it here?

The document in question would probably be more like a document detailing specific maneuvering performance and guidance of the Harpoon, something that would no doubt be restricted.

The archive is fully to blame, anyone can request to have documents declassified. It is then the responsibility of the archive to assess wether or not the information is suitable for release.

I don't believe the person in question got into any trouble since you cannot be expected to know wether or not the information is sensitive. Once declassified by the archive it's just another public document.

I suspect we're moving somewhat off topic though.

Yes we are, but seeing that that you're from Sweden too I thought it could be interesting (it was).

Agreed.

As for the wings breaking, I haven't done any extensive testing but as GGTharos mentioned you usually have at least a 30% margin before catastrophic failures in regard to the listed structural limit.

Which with your listed weight would probably(very rought estimate) be around at least 7.5G, it may be that it's slightly too restrictive right now, there's a G spike from rapidly moving the stick or at that mach number it is more sensitive to over G events.

It shouldn't be easy to pull the wings off but there's also not a system in place that will outright prevent you from doing it.
