BitMaster
Hmm, is it worth disabling hyperthreading on my 8700k when running DCS? No. If you like to run it on real cores only, employ ProcessLasso from bitsum.com Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Asus 1080ti EK-waterblock - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus PG278Q 27" QHD Gsync 144Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
pacotito
If you can wait a little bit, Ryzen 3000 leaks sound very promising towards the 5G...and much more cores than Intel, for equal money. I'd go AMD if you can wait I'd agree with this. Supposedly they are caught up to Intel on ipc. Although we wont know for sure till there's benchmarks Pacotito I7-5820k@4.5 Z99 extreme4 16gb ddr4 520gb ssd. Gigabyte ssc GTX960 SSC 4gb
v81
If you want the best of single threaded performance (ie, DCS) with a few more cores for the handful of tasks that can use them i'd suggest sticking with Intel. I don't favour either brand..... ........ If the hint of fast Ryzen chips is indeed true this could also be an option. Was looking for something in my post history and came back across this. Based on what we're hearing of 3rd gen Ryzen, the new flaws in intel CPUs and the bricing of both it would be very fair that for just about all scenarios now AMD might indeed have the better offering. If anyone is reading this as of June 2019 that my current stand. BitMaster
ram speed only makes a difference if you are doing ram intensive operations. dcs is mostly compute and graphics Up to ~3400MHz it can boost your fps by 20%, from what I have read and seen. I would certainly not buy 2133 or 2666MHz, neither would I buy above 3600 or above a certain price compared to 3200MHz prices. Tho prices went down a lot, fast RAM still sells for a very high price. Just checked my own 3600 16-16-16-36 32GB kit, FU$$, still way above what I paid for, sub 300 back then, today still above 400€, even for the slowest 3600, not speaking CL16. So today, I would max buy 3000 or 3200MHz. The prices for fast modules is still insane imho.
