a few questions...

  1. What is the approx. range of the Hornet's radio [given terrain], do both AM and FM have the same range?
  2. On some flights an airfield will respond and on an other flight the same airfield will not?
  3. Will civilian and private airfields respond to radio calls as do the military?
  4. Do Tacans currently work?
  5. Fuel usage>Best Mach to 2000 lbs., what does the red circled number represent [see photo]?

Thank you.

Tacan works. Radios: AM longer range than FM.

#5 ... "endurance" is the ability to remain airborne. .4 in your picture is the speed at which you will remain airborne the longest for those given conditions. 1:58 is the time you will remain airborne at that speed untill you reach 2000lbs fuel.

In contrast

"Range" is the most efficient speed to travers a distance. .54 will give you the most efficient range of 607 nm.

The top line (417 :35) is max range and endurance at your current fuel flow.

Yeah, IRL, AM radios have better range due to the fact all the power is being squeezed into a smaller bandwidth. Good to see that its the case as well in dcs.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).
