qcheck
PLEASE allow us to place ground vehicles on aircraft carriers inside DCS. The US NAVY is putting IFVs on the decks of carriers now to add defensive capability and use the IFV turret gun targeting to hit small small boats. I'd love to replicate this scenario inside DCS! Here is an article on it, and pictures and video of IFVs on carriers: video: https://www.facebook.com/7thfleet/videos/598375553948884/ images: https://www.armytimes.com/resizer/CE0cG0McUB712CVgFvpo7XCa7dE=/1200x0/filters:quality(100)/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-mco.s3.amazonaws.com/public/SJ6KOGWCPBHDZI6CCM7222FQNU.jpg https://www.armytimes.com/resizer/1X3ahoXV-Q5xFrMWOSTa9n3EqCA=/600x0/filters:quality(100)/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-mco.s3.amazonaws.com/public/JR6RPSICCNHCFECFK5WBYR6UQ4.jpg article: https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/your-marine-corps/2018/12/03/lavs-on-the-flight-deck-the-corps-is-testing-ways-to-boost-ship-security/ I love DCS, thank you! :)

qcheck
Do you mean that it is too recent a IRL development to allow inside DCS? I think it was always possible to put a land vehicle onto a carrier deck IRL since the invention of carriers. So with just a simple switch to optionally allow vehicles it could open up interesting gameplay for use with the current available aircraft and ships. EDIT: Ooooh you mean the date typo inside the article, lol yes that was pretty funny:) Edited October 11, 2019 by qcheck made correction

DmitriKozlowsky
Marines are a creative bunch. This is a temp gap stop measure until more permanent anti-small craft systems are in place. But it is still a great idea. I did not even know that it was possible to get a LAV-25 from well deck to the flight deck in LHAs. But Navy is faced with a small craft swarm threat from Iran (who else) and need to deal with it. They already got Hellfires on SH-60 helicopters. AH-1W/Z are great at small craft. Any strike aircraft. Navy implemented, I believe an engineering change into CIWS (Phalanx) to allow greater depressions for surface threat engagement. Army, USAF, Navy/USMC all ran tests with Sidewinders and found them effective for small craft engagement at sea. Kind of wish DCS Sidewinders could engage small vessels. Iran showcased their combat WIG (small ekranoplans) ground effect craft some 2 years back. In calm sea state those could pose a threat as they are made of laminated plywood and fiberglass, and are small. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=E%2fAZYP4J&id=013CB748C967349A8172CE35EA053D18983A8F74&thid=OIP.E_AZYP4JHhYHL5ct_ULc6wHaEd&mediaurl=http%3a%2f%2ffiles.abovetopsecret.com%2fimages%2fmember%2f6422e669882a.jpg&exph=263&expw=436&q=iranian+navy+wing+in+ground+effect+craft&simid=608009773060655157&selectedIndex=0&ajaxhist=0 Edited October 11, 2019 by DmitriKozlowsky
qcheck
...also I was hoping that if this were a relatively easy thing to make DCS allow ground vehicle placement onto a carrier deck (eg. allow a vehicle to use an existing spawn point for aircraft etc), then maybe there is time for it to be added to the Supercarrier mod they are working on right now. I'd love to try out some scenarios with this in the Persian Gulf map!
