DCS F-14B by Heatblur Simulations

 

 

  • NEW! Added ability to hide HUD Camera: click the HUD camera in the cockpit to remove it. (F-14 pilots could carry hex wrenches to remove the HUD camera, especially for landing.)
  • Fixed ARC-159 keybinds (and reverted preset/guard being switched).
  • Fixed "stab in, else out" and "stab out, else in" keybinds for the radar control panel.
  • Fixed Syria Instant Action mission issues.
  • Synced AIM-7 data to latest ED AIM-7 changes.
  • Tweaked AIM-54 PN coefficients for smoother transitions and a slightly better effect at long range (to try and counter the disadvantages of the current terminal guidance compromise).
  • Added preliminary/ rudimentary TCS trim support (just works visually for now and remains WIP).
  • Fixed AIM-54 Logic regarding TCS Target tracking.
  • Taught JESTER to turn on AWG-9/AIM-54 cooling as appropriate during poststart procedure. (Fixes cooling light not going off unless it was cycled to off and on again.)
  • Fixed Cmptr/Target designator sometimes jumping slightly on HUD when designating a Ground Point.
  • Added textures to intake covers for static F-14.
  • Fixed broken shading near airbrake on top rear fuselage.
  • Fixed broken shading, AO and RoughMets on spine GPS antenna.
  • Tweaked intensity of landing light slightly.
  • Fixed lack of night illumination on RIO TID rollers.
  • Partial fix to lack of night illumination on Weapon selection roller. (Known bug: illumination shows only “turn” at the moment.)
  • Fixed lack of night illumination on AWG-9 Range Gauge.
  • Flipped green/amber lights on RIO Advisory panel.
  • Fixed Ejection seat arming lever remaining after RIO Ejects.
  • Fixed possible cause for CTD during compressor stalls.

  • NEW: Hook Physics

    • Added physics based hook model.

    • Hook will skip now if landing too fast.

    • Hook will shear off when arresting with excess kinetic energy.

    • Hook no longer clips through ground. (Spectators and RIO may notice some clipping due to network lag.)

    • Added collision shell to hook. 

    • Hook can now be damaged by gunfire or explosions and detach from the aircraft.

    • Added spark effects and hook break sounds.

  • NEW: Iceman Features

    • Iceman can now orbit a steerpoint or map marker.

      • You can select between a variety of speeds and diameters

      • You can ask Iceman to fly a left or right handed orbit

      • You can smoothly transition between orbit diameters and speeds at any time

    • Iceman can now fly to a steerpoint or map marker.

  • NEW: Carrier Burble Aerodynamics

    • Carriers will now create a burble behind the stern.

    • Burble intensity differs with carrier and wind speeds and needs to be taken into account when landing on the carrier. 

    • When in close, the burble will first generate positive vertical velocity, immediately followed by negative vertical velocity. 

  • NEW: At night, the catapult launch is triggered by turning the exterior lights on (in accordance with manual procedures). Added a new special option which flashes the lights automatically together with the pilot salute.

  • NEW: Added MAK-79 bomb clamp models and revised loadout code. Bombs will now no longer float around the aircraft pylons.

  • NEW: Added 15 Mariana Islands Quickstart missions. Note: Will be available when the Marianas map launches.

  • JESTER reporting improvements: JESTER is now more selective in reporting incoming missiles, and he will ignore the missiles that don’t look like potential threats.

  • Completely rebuilt turn and slip ball indicator physics.

  • Overhauled several aspects of Autopilot behaviour:

    • ALT Hold will now null the rate instead of returning to a set altitude.

    • ALT Hold will now engage only if within +/- 200FPM vertical speed.

    • ALT Hold will not disengage anymore with lateral stick input, but with approx. 10lbs longitudinal pressure (or its equivalent in vertical velocity).

    • HDG Hold will not disengage anymore with lateral stick input. Lateral stick input can now be used for steering in HDG Hold and will set the new heading upon release and leveling. 

    • With HDG Hold engaged and if lateral stick input is released within 5° bank angle the AP will level the aircraft now.

    • Fixed ATT and ALT Hold not engaging properly at higher altitudes.

    • The aircraft will roll smoother now if lateral stick input is used during ATT, ALT and HDG Hold. 

    • If the aircraft is overbanked or overpitched during ALT and/or ATT Hold, ATT Hold should now return the aircraft to 30° pitch and 60° bank.

  • Taught JESTER the importance of breathing: he will turn on his oxygen on startup now.

  • Asking JESTER to input waypoints will no longer break the INS alignment procedure. The option to input the waypoints is disabled during times when it could impact the alignment.

  • Fixed Wing Sweep multi-crew initialization issue. This should solve F-14’s causing collision damage on carriers if spawned in the wrong order due to unswept wings.

  • Fixed slip-ball negative G-load erratic behavior.

  • Fixed radio catapult salute. It now triggers launch.

  • RIO can now use radio catapult salute to trigger a launch, too.

  • Fixed guard receiver in both radios. Guard frequency is now audible and automatically sets guard frequency according to your last selected frequency in the AN/ARC-182: 40.5 FM for 30 - 88 FM, 121.5 AM for 108 - 156 AM, 156.8 FM for 156 - 174 FM and 243 for ranges set between 225 and 400 AM/FM (and will always be 243 AM for the AN/ARC-159).

  • Possible fix for the BDHI TACAN needle bug where it could get stuck pointing down.

  • Fixed RIO aspect switch affecting only DDD, it now affects target tracking, too.

  • Fix TID radar azimuth line flailing around during AWG-9 ground-based tutorial missions.

  • Added radar altimeter test light.

  • Brake Pressure Gauges are now operative.

  • Gun is no longer operable with air source RAM or OFF selected.

  • Extending speedbrakes now interrupts fuel dump (except in the case of combined systems hydraulic failure).

  • Fixed Hydraulics, Flight Controls, Engines and Gear not being repaired.

  • Single-player RIO Total Fuel gauge now shows correct value during INST test.

  • Fixed hydraulic transfer pump operation - pressure drop to approximately 2,400 to 2,600 psi in the inoperative system is now simulated.

  • Fuel transfer switch now causes engines to correctly draw fuel from forward or aft tanks.

  • Fixed multi-crew synchronisation of the Yaw String.

  • Fixed multi-crew synchronisation of the Wing Sweep indicator.

  • Fixed multi-crew synchronisation of the Wing Sweep Emergency lever and its cover.

  • Ranges and range rate gates are now displayed on the DDD in STT modes
  • Adjusted Altitude Hold PID controllers
  • Fixed radio guard modulation - now AM is in the 225-400 range
  • JESTER will no longer report its own missiles
  • Fixed JESTER menu showing incorrect selected destination waypoint
  • Changed emergency hydraulics handpump - handpump is now automatic when clicked and held
  • Handpump pressure contribution adjusted - you now need to pump much more for the same amount of pressure

DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations - June 8th 2022

  • Reduced AIM-54 induced drag. 
  • Returned to original guidance parameters thanks to a guidance fix by ED.
  • ED: AA missiles. Corrected target tracking extrapolation.
  • ED: Weapons. AIM-54 launched by AI will enable active mode automatically instead of semi-active guidance in TWS.
  • Fixed fuel flow initialisation - fuel now drains from the correct tanks again. 
  • Removed the new unrealistic maneuver flap axis again. 
  • Turn on BRSIT flood antenna during sparrow LTE procedure to ensure the first missile can find a target.
  • Fixed incorrect LTE for fist sparrow launched in BRSIT mode.
  • Clear radar tracks when switching to transitional radar modes (PLM, VSL, MRL).
  • Inhibit AVIA display when NAV GRID shown or A/G mode selected.
  • TACAN Mode X keybind fixed - now switches to X instead of the middle position.

  • Complete overhaul and fix of the Emergency Wing Sweep Axis logic:
    • Handle can't be moved once the cover is down.
    • Handle can be disconnected from the spider detent regardless if it’s up or down (realistic behavior, lifting the handle was for easier access).
    • Added new special option. If enabled, handle can be moved only once up (to prevent unwanted detachment, especially when having the axis assigned).
    • Simulated Spider Detent Movement and attachment:
      • Attachment happens when the handle is close to the spider detent
      • The handle will stay there unless moved strongly away by mouse or the assigned axis (some amount of force reSquired in RL).
      • Spider detent will follow the CADC commanded wings position as seen in the Captain’s bars (middle indication of the Wing Sweep gauge) - if the handle is dethatched, the actual wing sweep will diverge from this indication.
      • Handle can be pushed down only at 20deg and oversweep, but can be raised anywhere.
      • Handle must be raised to enter or exit oversweep. Entering oversweep requires holding the handle in the raised and full sweep back (68deg) position for around 10s as earlier.
      • EMERG flag appears when the handle is lifted up. Once pushed down, the flag changes back to the previous mode (AUTO/ MAN).
      • Once the handle is detached, the CADC will report a failure (a small delay might occur) and the WING SWEEP warning light will appear. This will block the use of the HOTAS wing sweep switches. However, the AUTO/MAN mode will be updated as soon as the error is reset and control regained (pressing AUTO once the controls are inhibited and then the MASTER RESET button will activate this mode and drive the spider detent to the commanded position (20 deg on ground).
      • As soon as the MASTER RESET is pressed, the warning lights are canceled and HOTAS control is regained (spider detent can be moved). If the handle is still detached, the CADC will report the error again after about 7 sec reboot time.
      • Wings position will always follow the handle (if powered, operative, and not inhibited by flaps).
  • Changed wing sweep initialization on spawn:
    • Carrier spawn on catapult: 20deg, AUTO. 
    • All other ground spawns: oversweep, handle and cover raised.
    • Air spawn: AUTO, position adjusted to the airspeed.
  • Mechanical sweep handle can be stowed in oversweep, also allowing the guard to close.
  • Fixed sweep handle being able to move to OVER before HZ TAIL AUTH light goes out.
  • Fixed CADC/Wing sweep light remaining illuminated after spawning a new aircraft.
  • Fixed emergency wing sweep handle not catching the spider detent at 20 degrees.
  • Fixed wing sweep handle being pushed down in oversweep position for carrier spawns.
  • Fixed emergency wing sweep lever being pull-push lock reversed after clicking it wildly.

DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations 01. Sept. 2022

  • AIM-54 Overhaul, Part 2:
    • Increased PN gain for all variants.
    • AIM-54A will now only update guidance when the target is illuminated (you will see the missle periodically update).
    • Corrected motor impulse (reduced MK47 a bit and the MK60 significantly).
    • Reduced MK-60 burn time from 30 to 20 seconds.
    • Both motors have the same total impulse now. The MK60 has a slight advantage during motor burn time, while the MK47 has an advantage in burn time. With increasing altitude the difference becomes smaller. 
    • MK47 Mod 1 has now the same thrust/impulse and burn time as the Mod 0, but with reduced smoke (was previously weaker than the Mod 0).
    • AIM-54C should go active by default (even when losing lock from STT).
    • Increased AIM-54C chaff resistance.
    • Reduced AIM-54A chaff resistance.
    • Added option for AIM-54C with MK-60 motor.
    • Adjusted AIM-54 missile empty mass.
    • Adjusted MK-60 motor propellant mass.
       
  • Set the JESTER option for automatic PDSTT -> PSTT to disabled by default.
  • Fixed several issues with damaged avionics and flight systems (including jammed flaps for example) not allowing a repair to be triggered.
  • Potential fix for CTD with F-14 AI (was not applied correctly in the last patch).
  • Fixed emergency sweep logic:
    • Fixed commanded wing sweep position being saved over to a new aircraft spawn.
    • Fixed emergency wing sweep handle moving to spider detent on new aircraft spawn.
    • Fixed wing sweep indicator commanded position bit mismatching with the actual indicated position.

  • NEW: Added jammer detection and tracking functionality in the AWG-9, which adds amongst other features:
    • Noise jammers will now prevent AWG-9 from ascertaining range or range-rate from a target.
    • DDD will show noise returns over the range axis at jammer azimuth in pulse search. 
    • DDD will show jamming intensity trace overlay in pulse doppler modes. 
    • TID will display jamming strobe in TWS and RWS modes. 
    • TID jamming strobe can be toggled via Jam Strobe button below TID.
    • Jam strobes can be shared over Link-4C fighter to fighter datalink, allowing for eyeballed triangulation of actual jammer position. 
    • TID angle symbol is hookable. 
    • PSTT or PDSTT on jamming target leads JAT (Jam Angle Track).
    • STT-ed target transitioning to jamming outside of burnthrough automatically switches to JAT submode. 
    • In STT-JAT submodes both AIM-7 and AIM-54 can employed in HOJ (home on jam). 
       
  • Added jamming targets to JESTER STT options. 
     
  • NEW: Added new list of set commands for JESTER to be used in the Mission Editor.
