DCS: A-10C Warthog RICARDO's "Horse of War" HD Worn Cockpit Mod

I think, such backlighting panels Ricardo's idea to make cockpit looks old and worn out. If you want to lighting looks brightly, without these stains, then only from the original A_10C_C_EDM_TEX (unpack the archive) take file A-10C-CPT-BOARDS-TXTDAY.dds wherein the resolution to be increased to match other textures which are increasingly 4096x4096px. I've done the other way around - I reduced the resolution of some textures and put into the original, because I have a weaker GPU, and at his version lacked the dash to the frequency selector.

I doubt so because the backlighting just looks misaligned rather than faded or incomplete. Actually it seems like a common issue with cockpit mods in DCS. I know a similar problem with Mainstay's Mig-21 cockpit mod. The backlighting textures don't fit the modded textures.

In the M-2000C, the backlighting is controlled by the alpha channel of a separate half-scale texture file, different than the primary textures. I wonder if the MiG-21 is done the same way.

I decided to put some more work on it and add some more details to this textures and made the canopy frame to look more worn out...if you like it just override the original "A-10C_elements_01.dds" with mine (attached)...make a back up first just in case you want to go back.

No both screenshots depict his job. By the way Devrim, have you had the chance to look into the backlighting misalignement issue yet?

Look at all the white blotches in the mirrors arc...they werent there in the original work...:thumbup:...I just attached 2 screens to see the cockpit with and without mirrors...

 

I have made a mark in the screen attached...all those blotches are new...

Hey fellahs,

 

I've got an issue. I downloaded this mod, un-zipped it, then chose it using the JSGME. However, when I go into the settings in DCS 1.5.3, the only cockpit option is "Generic" or whatever the standard is.

 

I've also tried placing the files myself (admittedly, I may not have moved them to the right spot(s)). But no matter what I try, I cannot get this mod to show in-game.

 

Any help or instructions/guidance please?

The only mistake you might do is to copy files in wrong place.

Are you sure that you copy the "Mods" folder (from my zip) into DCS World/ folder?

It was something on my end. Somehow, in the end, I got it working and showing up in the options.

 

Now, if it is due to JSGME, I'm not sure. I uninstalled it, then re-installed and went through the whole process again.

 

THEN, I went into the actual Ricacdo mod folder and actually copied the folder structure into the DCS WorldBeta aircraft/A-10C/liveries/whatever (or whatever the path was. I forget.)

 

But in the end, the option was there and it works beautifully. So I'm not sure which approach solved the problem. I just know it's solved. So I'm happy for now.

 

If I run into other issues down the road, I'll be back.

No, I have WinZip.

I know this is an old post, and I see you get a new GPU. But I want to know do you modified this mod to say standard resolution (2048x2048 I think)?

 

Sorry to bring this up again, but for anyone with slower cards I can recommend resizing the textures to the original sizes (2048x2048 ). The mod is then 60 MB instead of over 200. It might be my old tired eyes, but I really can't tell the difference.

Yes. You may not see any differences unless you do zoom in the textures.

I'll contact with Ricardo to do that officially. Most texture size can be reduced except for gauges or similar vital parts. :)

Nice texture mod. Haven't noticed any FPS difference with my GTX 960 2GB GFX card... Nice to be able to select this in the Customized Cockpit menu too. Thanks both of you...
