Opentrack and DCS World

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone's got a good Opentrack profile(s) for KA-50, A-10C, UH-1H and SU-25T (maybe one profile works fine for all of them)?

I've finally got my IR clip working well with my PS3 Eye after removing the IR filter and am just starting with Opentrack and don't really understand what half the settings do!

Indeed. Sorry, should have posted a link and explained a bit more myself, rather than assuming everyone had already heard of it

Here's my profile if you would like to try it. But remember that you need to set up the model dimensions and camera settings under the pointtracker plugin. If you don't it makes it a pain to get everything else right, mine is on top of the headset so the center rotates the same as turning my head.

I have it set so that basically the top corners of my monitor translate to 180 degrees in the pit. So its a fast translation.

DCS Profile

Model Setup

The profile goes in x:\Program Files (x86)\opentrack\settings and name it whatever you want with .ini extension.

Thanks txmtb, that's really great of you to share your profile :)

I'll give it a go and see how I get on. I think I just need to copy and paste my existing [PointTracker] and [PointTrackerDialog] sections over yours (or most of them anyway, there might be one or two lines I'd should leave as you've got them) and it should work.

txmtb, I can't seem to load your profile in OT, it just results in everything being blank/set to defaults. Are you maybe using an older version? I'm using the latest v2.2 build from 16 January from here http://ts3.cosaofficial.pl/opentrack/

OK, I compared your file and a fresh file created with the version of OT I have and it seems a lot of sections have changed title ( [PointTracker] is now [tracker-pt] ) or been merged ( [PointTrackerDialog] is now part of [tracker-pt] ) or removed. I've done my best to copy your settings into the new format but some things didn't translate exactly (e.g. the Accela MK4 section doesn't have any axis settings), so perhaps you could try loading the attached file into the latest version of OT and tweak it to match your previous settings where necessary and re-upload it for me?

Note, this one has my PointTracker/clip settings under [tracker-pt] , as that section has changed too much to easily copy your settings across, so you'll need to enter your settings again with the latest version.

I'm betting we have different versions, I'm still using the 2.0.3b version. Which version are you running and I'll take a look at it?

I did open/edit/save the file you sent so it's attached here. I have a feeling it probably just overwrites everything though.

Sorry, I forgot to paste the link. I'm using the 16 February 2.2 build from here http://ts3.cosaofficial.pl/opentrack/

It actually still shows 2.0rc1 in the window so ignore that.

I don't think loading/saving the file I posted in your 2.0.3b will work as I'm sure that version won't recognise the re-titled and amended sections from the later version.

Sorry took so long. I messed with that version for the last 2 hours and I cannot get it to run satisfactorily. Can get everything to work but it's just too jerky to be usable. It looks like the Accela filter settings were changed and nothing I changed seemed to make a difference.

I'll let you know if I come up with anything else.

No worries, thanks for trying.

I think that this version has Accela Mk4 and maybe the older version had Mk3 or Mk2 but it's supposed to be better!

Maybe the best thing to do is report your problems to the author here http://sourceforge.net/p/facetracknoir/discussion/1150909/thread/8771c92d/?page=2 and he might be able to help you fix it, or he can fix the software if you've identified a bug.

Hi,

Could you perhaps upload the 2.0.3b version you're using? The only version earlier than 2.2 available here http://ts3.cosaofficial.pl/opentrack/ is 2.0rc1 and I don't know if that works properly either, so if I had the same version as you it should work.

I was waiting for an updated version which might have fixed the problems but it doesn't look like one's coming anytime soon.

Try this with the version you are using, I've been playing around with it for the last week and have to where I use it daily to fly with. It's based on the opentrack-win32-portable-2.2-20140116.tar.xz

which is the last one on the site and the one I think you were using.

Should just be able to set up the camera part correctly and maybe some fine tuning.

Still not working properly for me I'm afraid.

I even get phantom output on the TX, TY, TZ axis if I disable them in the Pointtracker settings, so I can't even just use it for Yaw and Pitch.

I guess I'll stick with FTNoIR for now but I'm planning on building a gyroscope/magnetometer board to use instead of the LEDs anyway, which will only be 3DOF but that'll do for me.
