Basically you can name it however you feel like. Most squadrons prefer to take up a number for realism. Some server also might have rules regarding squadrons. But in the end it's your own call.

Of course it is. It's a bit of a matter of practice and maybe of choice of targets. The tougher main battle tanks of course aren't that impressed with your 20mm, but trucks and APCs sure are.

In my experience most multiplayer missions feature groups of multiple carriers anyway, just to get the number of slots up. Finding 'your' home plate isn't changing, I reckon.

Enemies used to look (and sometimes shoot) through all sorts of terrain, but as far as I can tell that got fixed quite a while ago. As all DCS AI units they can pinpoint you if you stick out an inch...
