Win7 still here and I've been using DDU for years with no issues whatsoever, so you should be fine. That's with my last two NV cards though, I don't have recent experience with ATI ones.

Default gamma setting of 2.2 doesn't make any sense whatsoever, most folks lower it to 1.6-1.8 range to reduce washed out terrain look. I'd recommend trying out the same.
