Hawk and 2.5.4

I don’t think a lawsuit honestly is the answer here, and breaking VEAO copyright to reverse engineer code isn’t something ED can do. You can’t break one law to uphold a civil case.

I’d focus more...

I’d wait for the dust to settle. Abandonware is where the licence holder is unclear - quite simply, there’s nobody left to sue you for ripping it off a website.
Both ED and the licencees (ie Boeing/...

Hawk and 2.5.4

Not quite the analogy you have there.

Microsoft offer no restrictions as to who can develop on their OS. ED in the other hand, decide what companies get a licence to develop and those that...

Indeed. But the product is already commercially available. All thats being done (hypothetically of course) is modifying the code to be compatible.

To be honest, if we showed BaE and Boeing the...

Here’s a fun notion: if ED are dropping support, what would stop the community reverse engineering the .dlls and fixing them?

It’s not like VEAO exist to bring legal issues for it.
I’m not sure...

Your exactly right. Your options to continue using the hawk are either:
A) NOT update your install. No more updates for you
B) keep your current install and make a fresh copy that you can update.

Hawk and 2.5.4

Sadly they won’t keep working on it if they don’t have access to the code, the Hawk is dead without ED having access to the code. Our best possibility now is that ED find some way of compensating...

Sadly I don’t think they can patch or update .dlls they don’t have the source code, so unless VEAO are willing to provide this to ED, that’s a dead end.

I’ve worked in retail for 10 years, including 7 years in the mobile/cell phone industry. The product in question is not 15 years old. It’s not fit for its intended purpose as software, can no longer...

Hawk and 2.5.4

It’s unfortunate that VEAO folded, but if you’re going to have 3rd party developers, ED needs to find a way of absorbing a portion of Hawk sales - particularly anyone who bought it right at the start...

BMS is still my primary sim, not just because of the f16, but because of the map size and dynamic campaign. They have to fix that and the missile dynamics first, but a tornado or intruder would...

F-4E development news

Oh I don’t doubt they’ll have a good plane FM.
But there are huge (and acknowledged) discrepancies between the missile performances. I was more getting to that.
Of course, once that’s fixed,...
