  1. I think its this one, watch the whole video because the "point" of it is not obvious at first.
  2. Yeah I didn't emphasise that enough. Like Bitmaster said there. Please check that is the problems first. Watch the video's too. It caused Jay on his channel quite a headache and he's got a lot of experience.
  3. Hang on this sounds like it could be down to some kind of bios or V-bios problem. I'm writing this off the top of my head but I am sure it was a 30 series. It would connect from HDMi but not DP. I think it was a Jayz2Cents video, a recent one.
  4. OK dude there is an issue with mounting AIO coolers to the LGA1700 socket. I think Thermalright have made a support adapter too. Just check with Cinebench and HW monitor first. If you see big differences in the temps "core to core" it could be a sign of a bad mounting. It could also be the internal thermal compound under the CPU's own heatsink. Basically if you see bad temps once you have tested. Re-seat the AIO with some decent thermal paste, such as Arctic MX4 or similar. Then check again, if you still have issues come back to the forum. I think you will be ok though. Most of 12th gen problems seem to be teething ones. Best of luck mate.
  5. Okey doke. Forget using DCS as a benchmark for temp problems if you can. Download Cinebench R23 and HW Monitor to check the temps of all the cores. Do a multi core run and compare your temps with other people online, eg. Reddit or YouTube. Especially if any run a similar cooler. Then you will know for sure. Games have too many variables for a like for like temp check. I would say that your temps being in the 70's while gaming is probably normal on that CPU. My 5900x is on low 60's with custom water in DCS. You could check something like Jay2cents on YouTube, recently did an undervolt guide for 12th gen.
  6. Hi guys, I'm running 32gb of G Skill 3200C14 and I have a 3090. However I have recently got into multiplayer and the general rule is you need 64gb. Can any multi player users tell me their max dram usage in multi. I haven't maxed out yet or seen a performance drop, its hovering between 22-27gb on Syria. I have started looking on eBay for a 64gb kit though. Prices are all over the place for nice kits, UK anyway.
  7. What he said, I always undervolt my Nvidia cards and have a separate profile for flight sims. Flight sims tend to benefit from the highest maintainable clock speed, not simply the highest clock speed achieved by a brief spike. Undervolting especially on Nvidia cards, my experiences have been since the 900 series, helps to achieve this. If you have something beefy like a 2080ti, 3080, 3080ti and a 3090. It can reduce power draw and temps quite a lot. In DCS at least you dont really lose any performance at all because your after the highest maintainable/stable clock speed.
  8. Dude, as Bitmaster and others have noticed there is a case of "deja vu" here. From what you have told us. Plus taking into account what you have been told on Geforce.com. Both Lucshep and myself think your system is probably fine. However its your system and your responsibility. If your worried do the stress tests recommended. If your still really really worried RMA your PSU. Failing that enjoy your system. I can tell you that when my system a 5900x and a 3090 powered with a Corsair TX850M. Turns off, turns on and even when it restarts, it makes an audible "Click" sound from the PSU. This is normal and I enjoyed an hour or two of DCS tonight without any problems. I dont think any of the more experienced forum members on here are going to have another answer for you.
  9. Yeah this looks to me like first time setup shutdown/reboots. If its working fine now, for example during gaming etc. I wouldn't worry about it all. New systems often have the odd niggle or two.
  10. This sounds like the normal shut down and restart procedure that Windows goes through when setting up new hardware. The PSU clicking when it is powering down or powering up sounds normal too. My Corsair PSU does the same when I turn it on or shut down. Like Lucshep suggested, double check your Intel chipset drivers are up to date and carry on as normal. Thats a lovely rig, enjoy it.
  11. Yeah I agree with the other guys here. I have done a few "that'll get me by jobs" in the past. I wouldn't even attempt that one, not with such an expensive GPU. Cheapest and decent PSU I know that would do the job is the Corsair TX850M, I have one and its ran several different high end GPU's no problem. If you have the cash get a solid 1000w unit.
  12. I can second the dram advise everybody mentioned. Perfectly normal to have to raise the memory voltage a bit, also normal and "best practise" to manually enter XMP settings to achieve full speed. So enable the motherboards XMP mode then in addition manually enter those settings along with a voltage of 1.35-1.375v.
  13. Larry I could type out a big reply, but basically what "lucshep" said. Doing what you can to setup a 3080ti would be the best performance wise solution for running DCS on a big 4k TV.
  14. Simple answer that goes pretty much across the board regardless of what your running. Single player 32gb is fine, Multi player 32gb is ok but 64gb is the best way to go. A 5600x and a 3080fe will be just fine for 1440p, should be good for 4k too.
  15. Actually to be honest, if I was you and using a 1080p 60hz monitor. I would probably try to find a nice 2060 super on eBay etc. Then undervolt it using MSI Afterburner. I use to have one a couple of years back and it handled DCS at 60fps 1080p really nicely, plenty of eye candy etc.
  16. Out of that choice I would probably try for a 1660ti. MSAA is a GPU thing. Maybe give it a month and see if the prices drop any further. The used market could be a good option if you buy carefully.
  17. Unless you driving a 4k monitor, high resolution VR and have a high end GPU. I dont think there would be much point upgrading at the moment. Those 5800x3d CPU's will hold their price for a while. Until someone reports on its performance with DCS. We dont know if it would be of any benefit at all. I would have a look for video's about using either Ryzen Master or the curve optimiser in the bios. Make sure your getting the best out of your 5600x.
  18. Hi Taz, Please dont think I am being critical because I'm not mate. If anyone was going to stick to 1440p and use a Track IR I would recommend an AMD 6800xt all day long. I loved mine and it was butter smooth on 4x MSAA max setting at that resolution. Plus it would be a great experience too, 1440p is a real sweet spot for DCS. However as soon as you jump to 4k the AMD 256 bit memory bus cant handle the textures etc. Smart access memory doesn't seem to help either. If AMD had a larger memory bus on the 6800/6900xt I am sure it would be equal to Nvidia at 4k because the GPU core and memory itself run fantastic. Its just that as soon as you fly low near lots of trees or building the AMD card can do about 48 fps where an Nvidia 3080 would hold just over 60fps. Like I said thats only for 4k in DCS. Which very few people use.
  19. Taz, While I agree with you on the Unreal Engine and its performance regarding AMD GPU's. It doesn't apply to DCS at the moment. At resolutions of 1440p and below the AMD card is quicker. Anything above, ie, 1440p ultrawide and 4k the AMD cards are limited by their memory bus width. I have built systems with AMD...5700xt, 6800, 6800xt, 6900xt and Nvidia with 2080, 2080ti, 3070, 3080, 3080ti and I own a 3090. If anyone with the current engine DCS uses wants to use a resolution higher than 1440p you need an Nvidia 2080ti or higher. Otherwise you will not be able to maintain 60fps down low on higher settings. Please bear in mind this s only for DCS. Other games will be different.
  20. That all looks fine to me mate. You could try looking for a used G.Skill Trident Z 3200 C14 kit, they are a good price now DDR5 is about
  21. Yep what he said, all it can take is one box not ticked or un-ticked properly. It can all go out the window. When I first installed my 3090 I thought "how the hell can it be more stuttery" It does make you see the advantage of having a PS5 or Xbox but then I would have nothing to fix!
  22. Hi qbcat, As Hector has said, if your using that resolution dont bother upgrading unless it to something like a 3080. Going from a 1080ti to a 3060ti would be more of a sidestep.
  23. HI mate, Yeah after probably 10 years now I came back to custom water cooling. You dont gain much over a decent AIO for the CPU. However it pretty much solves any 30 series memory/junction temp issues. The difference is from the high 80 deg C doen to mid 60 deg C.
  24. It really does depend on the resolution you plan on using. If its 1440p, then your ok with something like a AMD 5600x/ Intel 12600k 32gb DDR4 and a Nvidia 3070/AMD 6800. Thats for pretty much maximum settings and a solid 60fps. However if its ultrawide 1440p or 4k. You need to dig deeper, the CPU can stay the same, you might want to consider the AMD 5800x or Intel 12700k, DCS cant use all those cores though. However, you need a Nvidia 3080 or better. I dont know what kind of memory bus AMD next gen GPU's will use. I do know that at 4k DCS will push my now watercooled 3090 pretty hard! If I let it. It will also use upto 12-15gb of Vram depending on the mission.
  25. Nvidia drivers only and MSI afterburner as often a custom undervolt can actually provide more stable performance. Finding a steady clock speed and voltage can sometimes be the best way to go.
