  1. If we are planning on going as far as having giant chain saws, can we please get the ability to hook up Christmas trees and load them onto trucks too?
  2. I'm sorry but this really is just not true. What I'm trying to solve by calibrating my joystick is a completely unrelated problem. It's part of the testing and set up process. It's completely as expected. This is not some issue that I don't know how to solve. If I wanted to, I can leave it as it is just now and never have to recalibrate or reboot it mid-game. DCS not picking it up is a completely separate issue. Like I said, imagine I don't have any issues with my stick. Imagine I just forgot to put the power switch on before loading DCS (I understand this might be a foreign concept to anyone who uses normal center spring-loaded sticks but this is more like a sim racing steering wheel which has a power switch)... how can I switch it on whilst DCS is running if I had forgotten to do it beforehand? Please don't say the solution is to eliminate the symptom... i.e. not forget to switch it on in the first place before loading DCS.
  3. Thanks, like I say - Windows knows the joystick is plugged in when I plug it in. DCS does not, unless it was plugged in and working before I started DCS. After that point the only way to get DCS to recognise it is to restart DCS, then it "sees" it. As far as your question as to why I am in a position to constantly have to "replug" my joystick mid-game, that is a completely separate topic and is not the issue at hand. Like I said, I'm testing out a new forc feedback stick and I had/ have to troubleshoot some problems with it. This requires it to be fully rebooted and recalibrated, which is effectively like unplugging it and replugging it. I just got sick and tired of constant;y having to quit DCS and restart it after I had to carry out a reboot/ recalibration of the joystick. The other issue is, because this stick has a power supply on/off switch, I occasionally forget to turn it on before starting DCS, and then have to restart DCS in order to get it to recognise the joystick because if I only turn it on when in game, it's too late for DCS to see it at that point. Has to be turned on before. I did a test with the Virpil throttles I have and they get picked up ok by DCS after I unplug/ replug them. I'll speak to the developer of the stick regarding the issue.
  4. What do you mean if Windows sees them? I mean I'm confused why it wouldn't? If I unplug and replug my joystick whilst in game, and it is no longer recognised by DCS, but upon rebooting DCS it's recognised again, then surely Windows has recognised it? When I plug something in I get the typical USB sound play to tell me I've just plugged something in. It's just that DCS won't recognise it - for example if I forgot to plug in/ switch on my joystick before starting DCS and only do it after DCS boots, or if I'm trouble shooting my joystick whilst in game and require it to be turned off/ on (I won't explain the details here, it's a new force feedback stick and I am trouble shooting some stuff which requires it to be rebooted and recalibrated, which makes it drop out of DCS). Hope that makes sense.
  5. Yeah hot plugin enabled. Does not recognise controllers upon rebooting or plugging them in whilst in game.
  6. No no, sorry I think you misread - I CAN re-scan for trackir no problem... it picks it up and starts working again. It's when a controller such as a joystick is unplugged, I have to quit the game and restart after re-plugging the controller as DCS loses it and clicking "rescan devices" does not pick up any joysticks or rudder pedals etc.
  7. Hi folks, I'm aware there is a "rescan devices" button in settings that picks up trackir when it drops out for whatever reason and you don't want to quite and restart the game, but is there a way of DCS doing the same for controllers that get unplugged or drop out? Like joystick, rudder pedals etc? The "rescan devices" button seems to have no effect on picking up controllers so I always have to restart DCS. Any way round this? Many Thanks!
  8. Thanks a bunch guys! yep, with the FFB joystick I now have I can simulate the stick not self-centering, and I can get the trim switch to have it "freeze" or find a new neutral point in that position which is pretty cool! But then it sort make me think that having a trim switch at all is pretty pointless if the stick has no tendency to move back and doesn't really have much resistance. Might as well just lightly keep your hand on it in the new position and keep going. Thanks again! I'll set up the force feedback so there isn't any natural self-centering effect... and I assume that doesn't really change much when flying at higher speeds?
  9. Hi all, I have a question for those who either know or have flown helicopters in real life. I'm setting up the force feedback for my new set up for the Huey and I'm wondering, how loose/ tight the cyclic generally feels in real life? On the ground, if you deflect it full in any axis, will it spring back to center or will it keep it's position where you leave it more or less? Might be a silly question but I've never flown any helicopter in real life so I'm wondering how I should set up the force feedback for my stick. I imagine the helo cyclics in general to be relatively free in terms of movement without having to apply much force, and without wanting to self-centre very much? Or am I wrong? Many Thanks!
  10. Sorry, what do you mean "so Aviation Nation is available"? You mean someone has built a template for DCS using the real world layout? Or do you just mean we have Nellis in game and hence that is already a real airshow location?
  11. That's perfect! Thanks a million!!
  12. Hi all, I propose a relatively small map based around an iconic airshow location - Oshkosh, Sun 'n Fun, RIAT? Please see my video below:
  13. Hi all, I tried to post this in a few of the sub-sections of the forum but got no replies so trying here. Could someone tell me how to make the camera slew slower when using the Ctrl+F2 view? I understand you have to use the W,A,S,D keys to move around but that causes relatively fast movements... I see in some videos people somehow manage to slew around at a slower rate when in the Ctrl+F2 view. Could someone please tell me how to do that? Can't seem to figure it out! Many Thanks!
  14. That's an interesting way of dealing with it! A bit of a compromise but definitely should keep the action going for a little longer. Thanks for that. I will test my new mission with this idea
  15. Any more updates on the choppa? Any plans for a 3D pilot model in F1 view? Sorry for being very impatient. I know you guys by this point have had an absolute myriad of requests for various supporting assests, but given your crazy skills, would there be any chance at all of including maybe 1 or 2 ground crew personnel to have on the ramp? Especially in civilian clothing would be great. At the moment all we have are the Massun ground crew in military uniform. Basically makes any sort of civilian/ police scenes very empty on the ramps with no people that we can really place Anyway, thanks very much for your hard work! You guys are absolute legends
  16. Oh I see, thanks for clarifying! Interesting that AI gunners aren't counted as the player unit.
  17. Hmmm, at least in the mission I made, my Huey AI gunners cannot kill any enemy units which are set to immortal Thanks though! That's a pretty good idea! Thanks for that!
  18. Hi folks, Is it possible to make an AI unit IMMORTAL to all other units except the Player? Basically I'm trying to create a firefight on the ground, but I don't want everyone to kill themselves in 15 seconds... I want them to keep shooting at each other, however I still want the bad guys to be able to die from my own aircraft/ heli. Is that possible to do somehow? Many Thanks!
  19. Hi folks, When you use the "GoPro" camera Ctrl+F2 and then use the W,A,S,D keys to move around, is it possible to make the camera translate (move) slower somehow to have a bit more precision of where it stops, every time you press one of those keys? Many Thanks!
  20. Hi folks, When you use the "GoPro" camera Ctrl+F2 and then use the W,A,S,D keys to move around, is it possible to make the camera translate (move) slower somehow to have a bit more precision of where it stops, every time you press one of those keys? Many Thanks!
  21. No, players aircraft are just clients. When you reload, it's up to you (and your friends in multiplayer) to take the slots or not. If the slot isn't taken then the said aircraft does not exist in the first place. Exactly the same as loading any normal MP mission.
  22. Will it be possible to use this saved game feature for multiplayer? So load up a mission from a saved point? And similarly, save the mission in multiplayer?
  23. Thanks for the response! Very excited to fly it. Do we have a ballpark release date-ish?
  24. This looks phenomenal. Crazy that DCS didn't offer something like this in the first place. Thanks so much for doing this! When can we expect this to be released?
