  1. Quite correct. Making a VId looking down, outside the perceived WEZ and with a big speed diferential is not easy. Not all pilot are recce kings either. Maybe on static display but not in flight. You have to see this from the pilot's point of view. Well I hope that is the case every time they shoot. Truth is that long range shots taken in a hostile electronic environment are rarely possible. Radar and IFF alone are not enough to break out targets supported by ECM. This is when data fusion kicks in (EO/IR, GCI, AWACS and Data Link) and resolves your targetting ambiguities.

  5. Good question. On most airframes, it's a selection of program and on/off switch. The pilot and WSOs are WAY too busy to figure out jamming methods, freqs, etc. Thankfully there are engineers who figure out all the black magic stuff. The system knows that when the aircraft is being targeted by an APG-XX in STT it should use XX technique. No thinking required by the operator. Just like Maverick said "if you think out there, you're dead!" ;) Theoretically, your SPJ should take away or at least lower the Pk of any BVR and radar SAM shot against you.   6. SK is correct. There is plenty of unclas literature out there on ECM and ECCM theory and techniques. The problem is identifying the ECM techniques each different jammer uses. Same can be said for ECCM techniques for each radar. Good luck finding unclas info on the ALQ-135's ECM techniques, which ones are employed when and how they affect certain radars. All that real and accurate info is at least SECRET in nature. We can guess all we want but that's exactly what these sims are; guesses.   8. Slotback 1/2 radar parameters are almost exactly the same. No fighter RWR can differentiate between the two. A great new feature IMHO.

  10. Close. It's actually called "CHILL". Stands for chaff illumination. Not an easy technique to pull off correctly.

  19. That rust effect Mitch mentions is weathering, not rust. There's absolutely no F N way that I would climb into a jet with actual rust showing. Corroded aircraft do not fly. I think the skin is very realistic.
  20. Incredible model!!! I'd love to see the Prowler and it's ECM implemented in the future. As far as the Prowler's effectiveness is concerned, the last time a US strike went in enemy territory without Prowler support was 1991 (Desert Storm 1) and that flight of F-16s paid dearly. US strike packages do not ingress into bad guy land without SEAD (F-16 CJ) nor escort/stand off jamming from the Prowler.
  21. IRL HOJ shots have really low PK against smart jammers employed by fighter self protection jammers. HOJ shots have higher PK against straight barrage noise jammers usually found in SOJ platforms. Not sure if this feature is implemented in 1.1 but if it is kudos to ED!
  22. You could compute the AWACS' Bullseye call on the bandit into range or just have AWACS give you a BRAA call on the suspected target if he's not too busy.
  23. Probably because it's not modeled in LOMAC, people fail to realize that technique generation by the jammer is more important than it's power (for SPJs anyways). A jammer powered by wheel and hamster can still defeat "burn through" from a high ERP radar like the APG-63/70 as long as it's jamming technique is efficient at exploiting a certain vulnerability. The only instance that high power output from a jammer is required is when it's using pure dumb noise techniques and/or in SOJ. From what I've seen, that's what LOMAC models. LOMAC would be a lot more interesting if it also modeled
