  1. Also, the new “obligatory” water reflections!
  2. Hi everybody. Serious question here: I have DCS on Steam and would like to not to be forced to update to 2.7 since it makes DCS unusable for me on my already low-end system. I’m fine just simming around in the Huey and no need for multiplayer. But when the 2.7 update becomes stable it’s over for me. Does anybody know if/how I can stay in 2.5.6 and stop steam from updating to 2.7 once it’s “stable”?
  3. My guess it’s the new water. Check out this main thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/268000-massive-fps-drop-after-update-to-27/
  4. I still think it could be the water or lighting since apparently it was changed inevitably and cannot be controlled in the settings. To be honest it feels like something which I paid already a lot for is getting taken away - the ability to play joyfully on an unchanged system. Instead of getting something with time like X-Plane did with Vulcan (+20/30fps). Question here: Is it possible on Steam to stay on a specific version? I cannot turn off the updates and some day soon 2.7 will be changed to “stable” and I don’t know how to stop it from updating??
  5. I don’t know if this is a bug, since it’s probably an intended performance measure to only place objects which are in view angle of the user, but it is resolving in this issue: https://streamable.com/zah47j
  6. Since this was not listed under “known issues” of the changelog I asked the support team about it. The answer was: “DCS World has added new clouds, improved graphical effects and much more, therefore DCS requires more powerful hardware. […] You cannot revert the water display to the previous version[…]“ Really hope it gets sorted out, since I am not in the position, now should i have to buy a new PC. The performance be optimized with time (take X-Plane as a role model), not worse in my opinion -> so people loose the ability to play the game they paid for. Reinstalled completely and no optimization tips helped unfortunately.
  7. How much fps did you have before the update? Today I reinstalled DCS completely from scratch including the saved games folder and it did not improve the performance. It went from my favorite helicopter simulator into an unenjoyable mess. It isn’t fun to hover on the ground with low fps. If it stays like this in the stable and I won’t have the option to downgrade, all the money I have put into this game is burned.
  8. Yesterday I tried out the new open beta and while I had 60fps on 2.5.6, with 2.7 the fps decreased to 40–45 fps average (and stutter). I don’t think it’s the clouds since it stays the same even with clouds off. The shaders in the user folder were deleted before trying 2.7 and nothing else on my system was changed. (I also use the left Alt+Return for fullscreen mode hotkey, as the support center suggested) One thing I noticed is that the water changed to the glossy reflective water – but I did not find the option to force it to the former “fake-reflection” water as of 2.5.6. Somehow I have the feeling it might be the reason for it. If there is a way to turn the water reflection to he former water in 2.5.6, then it would be interesting to see if it is the reason for the problem. Also I am afraid that if 2.7 turns stable, i will loose my current performance and will be stuck to 40 fps which is unusable for me since I only play it with helicopters where there is a lot movement.
