  1. Good job! I'll add that being stingy with the gun can also help. Most are soft skinned targets so only a quick burst is needed to kill them.
  2. That's an excellent post about TACAN. Thanks for posting that! In flying the F-5E, TACAN and Dead Reckoning are the only way to go since it's an older bird and does not have a HUD or moving map NAV system like more modern aircraft. Dead Reckoning is just visual navigation. You locate points on your flight path and as long as you have a visual reference for flying you won't get lost. TACAN flying is Point to Point Navigation. As long as you hit the appropriate heading at the correct distance from the TACAN station you will be on course. What we do first is get the TACAN setup prior to takeoff as it saves some time. We turn it on and set it for LSV (12X) and set the course heading to 267 (FYTTR). We skip the first waypoint (FLEX) since it's pretty easy to hit with Dead Reckoning. Once airborne and past the race track we turn left until we see 4 on the distance indicator - this is close to the FLEX waypoint. Then we head 270 until we see 15 come up on the distance indicator. That tells us we are at the 15 DME mark so we then make a left turn south to intercept the 267 radial as per the departure diagram. Once on the 267 radial with the course line indicator lined up with the 267 heading we turn right and follow it until the 33 DME mark which is the FYTTR waypoint. We then switch the TACAN to BTY (94X) and set our course to 275 with the tail of the course radial pointing at 095. We then fly a heading that roughly splits the 275 heading with the course line indicator (~306) splitting the difference is a more direct line to the waypoint. Once at the 37 DME mark (JAYSN) we then switch the TACAN back to LSV (12X) and set the course to 285. Again we fly a heading that splits the 285 heading with the course indicator - 318. Once at the 73 DME mark we set the course knob to 300 and fly a heading to get to the 90 DME Mark - 358. The TACAN signal to the 90 DME mark (GARTH) gets pretty weak but you can still get it if you have an altitude above 26k. Once we pass GARTH then we switch the TACAN to TPH (119X) and set the course knob to 108 and fly to BELTED PEAK. Once there then we set the course knob to 92 for INDIA. The return flight is done similarly only this time we set the tail of the course radial to the course headings for the TACAN stations. As indicated you can check your flight path on the kneeboard but you don't have to be so precise to still fly the flight path adequately. You can read about Point to Point or Fix to Fix navigation here which also a good reference.
  3. Saved Games folder is still available. Look for it under C:\Users\<your userid>\Saved Games\DCS There should be folders for all versions you have installed: DCS for DCS 1.5, DCS.openalpha for 2.0 and DCS.openbeta for the 1.5 beta install.
  4. We retested BFT08 both Practice and Campaign missions and the triggers worked properly on our system. The CDU failure didn't occur as reported earlier but you can still pass the mission executing the correct emergency procedures. We are going to add some additional text to help indicate when the failures occur and include the checklist details in the practice mission to help with training. Will retest BFT09 next but as we indicated, if things aren't playing as expected do a DCS Repair and/or re-install the campaign module.
  5. I think your reading the chart right but I don't know how closely that maps to in game. For example you don't have the 2 x AIM-9s as used in the test which would add drag and weight so you should be able to turn tighter however the environmental conditions also weigh into it (air density, temperature, etc). Also I'm not sure how closely the flight model is mapped to real world charts. 0.8 mach is ~530 knots which is about half it's max speed of ~1.6 mach. This article https://fightersweep.com/129/flying-the-f-5-tiger-ii/ says Maybe check out the MiG-21 charts to get some additional info. It's a 4 part article so read all the parts to get a good appreciation for this aircraft. Hopefully others can chime in with more performance specifics.
  6. Try dropping when right over the target. The drop zone is centered around the target but you can cross that very quickly depending on your speed.
  7. Since the triggers are not working I recommend a DCS Repair and reinstall of the campaign module. That's worked for others that have had trigger issues. Also don't use SWEETFX or other mods as that can also cause problems.
  8. The red triangle should show up if the unit is EPLRS enabled. I've not played this mission yet so I'm not sure if the JTAC is a ground unit or airborne. If the JTAC is airborne you won't get the red triangle but could create a new wp using the coordinates to get a fix on the target area.
  9. Check page 13 of the Combined Arms manual. The Flag indicates the end point for your ground unit route. For the off road waypoint do you have it set to Off Road in the Waypoint Type for the convoy group? If they are all set to On Road then the AI will try and stay on the road even if the waypoint is off the road. This might explain the peculiar zig zagging you are seeing as the AI is trying to get to the waypoint but also trying to stay on the road.
  10. It's definitely frustrating when the triggers don't work as expected. Hopefully after the next update ED will have corrected many of the issues. We will retest the mission again but if the underlying game engine has problems there isn't much we can do from the mission perspective.
  11. Good post Sith. I don't envy your position. :( Constructive criticism can help make any product better - the other behaviors - let's just just hope we see less of them this year. ;) Respect that we all come from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences and focus more on what DCS brings to this hobby to make it such a great time for flight simming. Onward and upward for 2017!
  12. What about this: http://www.skysectionals.com/ Sorry I see you want a European based company.
  13. будет в следующем обновлении.
  14. If you fail on all the emergency procedures but are still able to successfully land in Manual Reversion mode then you should pass with a Q- rating.
  15. Not sure why that happened but if your mission results are less than 50 then the campaign will always send you back to the previous stage (mission). You can change the campaign stage manually. Read this post for details.
  16. The message to eject is to save your pilot life so really you do need to land successfully to pass the mission. It wouldn't be good to pass someone who just destroyed an airplane. :)
  17. There are voice overs and messages to indicate any failures in procedures, etc (like not selecting the DSMS profile for example). If you didn't hear or see anything like that once you land it could be you are not illuminating the targets properly. Are you hearing the flight examiner say "Target In Sight"? In most cases the flare drop is too far from the target (try dropping when directly over the target). The flares are parachute retarded so they drop nearly straight down (unlike a bomb that has kinetic energy). Also ensure you hold the bomb release button down a good second or two as we have seen issues with the game engine properly detecting the key press. You should hear the pilot say 'Two Away' when the flares drop.
  18. We retested and something is definitely wrong with the set failure triggers. The failures will occur but they happen at random times after the trigger fires. For example 3 tests with the CDU and we found the failure actually executed at 18, 38 and 44 seconds after the trigger was executed. Similar for the Right and Left Hydro failures. R-Hydro failure occurred at 1, 35 and 49 seconds. L-Hydro was 1, 36 and 43 seconds after the trigger executed. You can see it with the attached test mission. It only has one trigger which is TIME(10), SET FAILURE (CDU, 100, 1). The L-Generator failure seemed to be the most consistent as it failed immediately after 10 seconds as expected. Looks like the random failures really are random! We will update the campaign and practice missions to give more time for the failures to occur and also a visual indication when to start the test so you can complete the procedure (even if the failure doesn't actually occur). Thanks for reporting this issue. A-10C CDU FAILURE TEST.miz
  19. Does this happen in the practice mission too? What happens if you perform the procedures after the instructor tells you what has failed? I believe the mission is still passable even if the failures don't actually occur - you can still perform the checklist procedures. ED broke alot of the triggers in recent updates so it's likely they impacted these as well. Will retest when we get a chance.
  20. What is GeoCoordinates? We only have access to MGRS, Lat Long and Lat Long decimal in the mission editor. I believe we used MGRS to position all the NAV points.
  21. There is no map provided but the MOA is defined in the Arrival mission: "The MOA is defined by Poti and the Rioni River in the North, Batumi in the South, Kur.Bahmaro in the East and 10nm off shore in the West." If you stay within these points you shouldn't break the MOA boundary. If you are getting close try circling back unless you are in a specific maneuver under test.
  22. That campaign is being migrated to the ED store. It's on the roadmap for 2017 just can't say an exact ETA at this time.
