  1. You know Google? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIM-120_AMRAAM Scroll down to "Similarly armed targets" Second link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vympel_R-77 Scroll down to "Comparison with AIM-120 AMRAAM" Hwg, that is sooooo lame.
  2. Any reason to do this with Falcon sim cockpits and Lomac video generator? Why not flying the flyables in Lomac? Would make sense.
  3. Makes me wonder if the mission layout is still player/client or if it's changed so that open slots in online flights will be filled with AI pilots?
  4. I'm afraid that the announcement will make many people's dreams meet reality. "bitching/whining threads" are sometimes written by disappointed customers, but most of us have just adapted to what Lomac is today. Beeing here since the late Flanker days i can remember the enthusiasm and eagerness before Lomac's release, the patches and the addon.
  5. Hehe, the world could be simpler if one would apply this to US length system: foot yard = 3 feet eighth mile = 220 yards = 660 feet quarter mile = 440 yards = 1320 feet half mile = 880 yards = 2640 feet mile = 1760 yards = 5280 feetIntuitive, totally.
  6. You know about LMR - Lockon Mission Randomizer? It's the best tool to enhance your missions: Link to the randomizer: http://www.geocities.com/litamarieg/LMR.zip Link to posting with ReadMe: http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=57692
  7. Frugal will take care of the problem: http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=120145
  8. I'll guess he meant the Gold titles that come as a re-package of older games, sometimes with an addon and up to date patches, like Lockon Gold. This "Gold" is just a trick to get the customers attention ...
  9. I toggle 'altitude hold' on and off to trim the plane - works in the fighters better (faster) than in the SU-25 or A-10.
  10. Running an 1950pro. Temps measured with ATITool go up to 81 deg C for GPU with 64% fan speed. I've added one fan (4000rpm) blowing air into the case and 2 fans (2000rpm) blowing air out. Are you sure you get enough air into the case, because your card has this 2 slot- cooling system that blows the hot air directly out of the case?
  11. Well, i remember all the upset with the online flights when Lomac came out (cause of lag and warping etc). It was said that 80-90% play offline. Now, if you believe that, why is AI so ... dumb?
  12. Just fly 80% throttle and the dummies are in formation in no time. Geez, lead flight forming up on wingies - nuts!
  13. I'll guess this incompetence is the artificial part in AI. After all these years with Flanker 1.x, 2.x and Lomac and what do i know how many patches and addons the AI-pilots can't even fly to formation (with acceptable fuel management)? That's lousy. But the graphics are great!
  14. If you grow up you'll learn that you have to pay your bills, eventually - sooner or later. Has to do with respect and reputation - think about it.
  15. Almost. I've talked about pilots keeping offline because they're afraid to be a "sitting duck". You should learn that most online players started that way and best thing would be to team up with a serious group (not necessarily a squadron) to get some training and routine. I can remember my first online flight with an instructor - i was so nervous i forgot to retract the gear and crashed it at 300knots  Oh, and it's not all A2A combat, many pilots fly A2G and all sorts of coop missions vs the AI.
  16. I don't take computer games that serious, too, but fly online because i have fun and i hope that everybody - flying online or not - does by his own choice. Everything else would be REALLY silly, don't you think so? So your reason to fly offline is that you don't take computer games that serious and you do this by your own choice. I can live with that, no problem. Greetings to the AI pilots
  17. OK, my 0.02 € I've seen threads like this coming up now and then - nothing new, really. Especially amusing is Joe Pilot saying "i don't fly online because they always shoot me down". Well, what do you expect? Really - flying online is in no way different than flying offline vs half moron AI pilots, except that these Ai pilots are suddenly evil, bloodthirsty, exploiting and killing with a twist! What a surprise?! So, if you come online with the same attitude/tactic you've been the ace offline, you'll fail - trust me, you're NOT Maverick and Iceman is really that dangerous. Ok, think again for a new tactic. First, if you fly online, it's easier to kill bandits if you fly 2vs1. So get on comms and learn to communicate how to coordinate an attack. Second, if you're alone and you see two or more bandits on radar, don't expect the bandits to cooperate - they want to kill you and they will, so bug out and look for reinforcements. And this: if you fly online, it's essential to know your plane and systems - if you don't know how to fire missiles go back to bootcamp and learn the systems - you won't survive a 2 minutes BVR. As several posters told you way better than i can it's important to know that you will NEVER fly home alive if you resist to communicate and cooperate with your teammates. Really, if i have to fight two bandits that are on comms i turn cold and wait for a better chance to score. One never wins these fights. Get online and you'll see that your head is still on your shoulders even if you mess up :smilewink:
  18. You are the one talking about vista, i'd talked about drivers. We've tested vista in my office (working at university, 700 computer) and i tell you, it just plain crashed. So no vista for my users this year. Some people will be using XP in 2012 as some people are using Win98 today. I see no reason to move to vista today if one has a running system. Only trouble ahead - read the nVidia fora. I do not argue about vista, i argue about the drivers  Man, even Nvidia calls their drivers beta. And what kind of logic is it that vista is running less worse than XP did some years ago? Nice. I'll join the club when i can be sure the issues are sorted. And if vista is only half as great as you wanna make me believe, then i'm sure it will run just great on my system.
  19. If you'd read my posting - i said the drivers are beta. If you take the time to check nvidia.com, select driver for vista 32bit, you'll get ForceWare Release 100 Version: 100.59 Release Date: January 31, 2007 Beta Driver Stop living in the past? Haha, you stop living in the future! That is all you're suggesting. There is -no- reason to move to vista today - concerning Lomac. You install vista to have a new toy to play with, i install new OS to have at least the same performance while running my actual software suite. XP will be supported till 2012 and there is no need to lurk people with perfect running systems to the dark side. 'nuff said
  20. Vista drivers seem to be beta and people running the OS should be aware that they are beta testers. To each his own, but why people try to fix a perfect running system/graphic combo is hard to understand, especially if the new software is slower ... http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/17/gameplay-only-gets-worse-with-vista/ http://www.tgdaily.com/2007/02/02/nvidia_lawsuit_vista_drivers/
  21. One should not forget to check the own network settings within Lomac. I'd once entered a server and every other plane was warping, even on the ground. Not one missile ever hit and i already thought the others found a new hack to spoof missiles. Well, by checking the settings in config i found the drop down menu for network connection speed to be empty ?! Reapplied latest patch and problem was fixed.
