  1. Hey, yeah sorry I never got round to sending you the file - been crazy busy at work. Glad you figured it out. Yeah that’s the only problem, the speed brake doesn’t auto retract. I’ve just learnt to deal with it now, and it’s part of my landing procedure to manually retract it. Maybe someone smarter than me can figure out a better way of doing it - I thought about using the other button on the left throttle (the 2 way momentary press up and down) as that’s more like how it functions IRL (I believe) but I decided against it for consistency between modules (plus I need that switch for other stuff). Obviously my lua file is essentially assigning a digital function to what is really an analog switch so it’s a bit of a fudge. Maybe you could use one of the levers on the bottom of the throttle too (though personally I like having the speed brake on the throttle itself)? Options to think about anyway!

Hey Dude me again Just bought me a AV8BNA Harrier - and guess what it has a funky airbrake control that my x56 doesnt like when i use the SLD switch unless i use the Delay method like i had on the F18.

(only 3.5 seconds this time cos its slow)

anyway was wondering if you know any code trickery for the default joystick file for the Harrier.  It looks completely different from the F18, has no equals this and that etc, and it also seems to be an icommand not a Hotas_command.

Im assuming the icommand is an axis thing maybe.

I havent tried just adding your line to it as the name has changed to airbrake from speedbrake etc, so it is clearly different.

Not sure if you know of a fix like the f18 one or have the knowledge to know how to make one, but if you do id appreciate it.  Fumbling with a 3.5secs delay for airbrake out and then often it not retracting unless you cycle another 3.5 seconds is a pain....

      Thx

Ahhh lol no mind i fixed it - seems stt software was playing up i had used the f18 profile and edited it to the av8 i deleted the delay on the sld but seems sttt wanted to keep it in the background - a few deletes and computer on off got it to accept that wasnt what i wanted it to do and let me delete it and just a a B and a B in it which now works -

Also the harrier airbrake is weird anyway as it sticks out on the ground and when in landing config - but i wil work that out lol - got rid of the delay again so all is well

  2. Ok i see what i did i set my controls to the wrong command -

Ok so i now  have value down = -1.0 and value up = 1.0

Now it works how it did BUT - i noticed when i was using the delayed method it went up and down fine as expected - but would also retract when flaps exceeded ~22%, likely to ensure you dont forget the speed brake is out when landing not sure.

But with this line method it stays out all the time until you SLD down.  I do recall watching f18 landing videos where they say blah blah about landing with the brake out etc as a teaching method for throttle control blah blah. So i do think it staying out was how it worked pre 2.7 patch.

However, I can see what ED have tried to do as it is likely that auto retract at low speeds is a feature of the aircraft, if that is the case I would like to keep it, but the delay method introduces issues with the brakes not applying during the 2.5 secs.  If there is a better combo that allows the brake to operate like ED have it now I would be very interested.

Right now im using your line edit method and trying not to forget to retract the speed brake,

so some sarky git in F2 view with a thrusty wartog isnt laffing out "Dude your speed brakes out"

  3. Ok dude think its the other guy i need to send this too my apols lol

  4. Hi,

This is my current lines in the default for f18 speedbrake

    {    down = hotas_commands.THROTTLE_SPEED_BRAKE,                        up = hotas_commands.THROTTLE_SPEED_BRAKE,                        cockpit_device_id = devices.HOTAS,    value_down =  0.0, value_up = -1.0,    name = _('Speed Brake Switch - EXTEND'),                    category = {_('Throttle Grip'), _('HOTAS')}},
    {    down = hotas_commands.THROTTLE_SPEED_BRAKE,                                                                                        cockpit_device_id = devices.HOTAS,    value_down =  0.0,                    name = _('Speed Brake Switch - OFF'),                        category = {_('Throttle Grip'), _('HOTAS')}},
    {    down = hotas_commands.THROTTLE_SPEED_BRAKE,                                                                                        cockpit_device_id = devices.HOTAS,    value_down =  1.0,                    name = _('Speed Brake Switch - RETRACT'),                    category = {_('Throttle Grip'), _('HOTAS')}},

    What happens with these numbers is;

    - push SLD up nothing - push SLD down speed brake out - then up or down nothing so have to use CtrlB to retract

I also have two entries for Extend in the controls list

Ive tried so many combos i cant even remember what the originals were but i can get that from my other install

If you have any ideas or a default lua then will happily receive it thx

  5. tried this line in various combos but couldnt get it going, ahh well delayed it is..
  6. looks like that line would fit nicely at line 102. anyways i will try this line in the F18, if i can get rid of the delay so it goes up and down as it did i willl be pleased, cheers in advance
  7. I had the same issue with x56 - glad it still works in the FC3 i hadnt tried that - but in the F18 using STT software i have the same advanced command as you Lshift B extended and Lctrl B retracted. However now as you say this no longer works the same, so what i had to do was add a 2.5 second delay on Lshift release, and it now extends and retracts as before. The only issue with this is you have to cycle 2.5 seconds or it stops partly raised if this happens you have to go again and its another full 2.5 seconds. Im happy with this solution but you must remain conscious of the del
  8. As I had suspected - That is great news thx for testing saved me doing another recon. I didnt do the thing with the WP I just know they work as you would expect, but this is good news for the MP users. a whey hey to ED.
  9. AntiSkid are now fixed in the patch so now you can stop and no black marks - all done
  10. The day before the patch i did a fly-over of some sites during a recon mission and recorded some mark points through my HMD with the plan to go and bomb them on the next mission, however on landing i noted all the mark points had gone. ~I was happy when i read they fixed this. But now from the comments above it was either already fixed prior to the patch or the patch hasnt fixed it. As for the Natops stating it resets to MP1 this could mean it simply selects MP1 and the data is held. I would be interested to find out what happens to waypoints when you go WOW after landing from your last wa
  11. Yup doing this for me too 588 588 588 i close up 584 584 584 i drop back 588 588 588 - im pretty bad as it is but the onetime you want to get it in it pulls away. i have the yoyo yips as it is, so im not getting any. This looks like an old thread ah well i need toilet gotta go
  12. I am getting CTD more often than not EVERY time I play multiplayer, I thought it was because I was in stable DCS while the servers were apparently in Open Beta so I changed it all up and I am now open beta yet still getting CTD. I am sick of patiently going about my business shooting at stuff then as I return to base all tallies are lost as the game crashes and I am looking at my desktop. This is EVERYTIME usually the same server too (well the 4ya ones currently) I have noticed it happens when I am selecting new nav points for the planned landing area - screen freezes sound goes, sound
  13. Thx man that all helps - I have just now been running a bomb load straight out to sea using throttle/thrust to trim I see this really affects the rate of climb and when I trim I usually over trim and I'm as you said oscillating. Now I see that. Also I watched some Georgian oil vids (not tutorials just the guy at the wheel) I noticed straight away he runs out far then turns and reduces to 45% thrust on his run in - I've been at 80% trying to trim trying to slow trying to turn steer etc and the thrust is just yanking me all over - so done some of that too and now I have loads of time over the
  14. yeah thx guys - I have a few missions I made for the PRACTICE and im not expecting to grasp it overnight (im a week into it) - I have curves setup on the stick as per a few youtubers - the manual actually states stick inputs should be as linear as possible - I have gone from 35 down to zero and currently im at 15 which feels great - as I said when im not trying to do anything the plane flies like a patty (is there such a thing) - I can land but not well enough yet to go multiplayer campaign/mission - it was just like put a runway in front or a target and I get the yips - I will keep at it of c
  15. OK this is an is it me question so be nice... So i am free flying to a target maybe one I have created in a mission maybe a tutorial. All trimmed lovely, speed good, I can even take my hand of the stick for a slurp of jacks finest. Put a runway in-front of this plane and its like a bucking rhino, put a target in-front and try to aim, off it goes up down left right never the twain shall meet. Ok ok flyover, now I need to turn back towards the targets, the plane knows this so starts to beep and pleep at me I turn away all is well try turning slower, ahh wheres the target gone im 20
