  1. And- this has been said ad nauseum- many of those locked servers only require you to join their TS channel to get the password.
  2. If he was shooting at other players- he deserved to get kicked. Personally- I fully support that call- assuming those were the facts. Making low passes? No- of course not. Not unless he was told to stop and copped an attitude. Null- if you're interested in a suggestion- We have had this dumb kid who used to constantly buzz players on the ground and generally irritate everyone. I solved this pretty quickly with a kick, obviously. When he came back in, he was told "One slip up- you're done for good." (abbreviated version) Seems to have worked to this point (few months)
  3. There is no comparison between flying the keyboard and flying a HOTAS. However- the mentality that it's warthog or nothing is just plain wrong. It's very nice. I'd like to have one. But CH gear works beautifully, and many people here use a Saitek X52/ x52 pro, X65, and a couple others.
  4. Hypotsia I'm hungry.. Think I have a giant box of Oreos around here somewhere..
  5. What happens if you inadvertently retard your throttles too much? Lol.. I think I'd deal with the keyboard for this.. That's just me...
  6. If you're expecting a DCS Russian fighter just because "it's their turn" I think you may be slightly disappointed.
  7. Found on the squadron directory for the most part.. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34062 Also- when joining a server- they are often in the mission briefings & descriptions themselves.
  8. REQUIRED: ...A sense of adventure- let go of the boogieman. The GAU-8 cannot power-barf uranium at you for real. Gunny Ermey is not going to get on TS and repeatedly call you a maggot. You are not going to be laughed at if you don't know the answer. Teamspeak (and ventrilo, possibly) installed with a mic. Configured, and working. Bookmark the various TS servers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: HOTAS, and track ir. You are at a distinct disadvantage without this hardware. You are handicapped both operationally and from a training standpoint. IMO , of course. I'm sure there's more, but I'm trying to be as universal as possible. From here- it will vary from Squadron to Squadron.
  9. The base kit needs a baseball hat, yes. Something for the track clip to grasp. The Bundle with the PRO clip needs a set of over- the- head headphones. I think they have a list of compatible headphones. OK I didn't see a list- but they cite "creative" as a partner, so assume any creative model would work. Don't get a behind the head mic/ phones, and just be aware that there are a few sets that have something in the way, or maybe too thick, or some other shape anomaly that prevents the Pro clip from clamping onto them.
  10. No- Headphones are what it's meant for. Laptops have almost always been a struggle to run simulations like this- I have not seen much on this board that indicates a quantum leap forward in this- even with star trek processors, and the like... That said- the tripod legs of the Tracker's stand can be manipulated to grip most thicknesses. I'm not going to tell you it's going to be rock solid, but it can be done.
  11. You need to clamp it to something stable Frost. I have both clips- haven't used the pro clip due to poor foresight- I replaced my headphones about a year before I replaced my TiR2- not compatible with clip..
  12. Try to save as best you can to get one.. It changes the entire dynamic THAT much..
  13. Took me 5 posts to figure out wth you all were going on about...:smartass:
  14. Then something needs attention- cause it ain't happening on mine- or on rampant quantities of other's CH setups either. Axis mapped wrong, not calibrated, etc.
  15. I'll check it out for the LAAP. I have a throttle switch with some room.. Already got PAC handled. Thanks
  16. Not having a HOTAS of any kind is a DISTINCT disadavantage. That's pretty close to the end of that statement's validity. CH- does almost everything the TMWH does. I would really like a physical 2 stage trigger- but CH makes this quite easy to overcome. PAC systems work just peachy through software emulation.. I'd LOVE to have a physical LAAP mode switch. I'm not at home, but maybe I could add that function to my CH too. Haven't checked to see if it has an assignment, and what type if it does. I'd LOVE to have split throttles. As you can see- these "shortcomings" do not really present any serious tactical disadvantage. I can do anything the TMWH does otherwise. As you go downscale in HOTAS equipment, you begin to lose the number of HATS, etc.. some programming limitations, things like this. But with a little work these too can be overcome. Perhaps not to the same level as a higher end- but certainly do-able.
  17. Server admins found a better way- mandate being on comms to gain access at all. It has a way of keeping out people like that..
  18. I can assure you- There's almost none of that happening here.
  19. Do what you enjoy... If you branch out to multiplayer- you get to take in what other's enjoy... Ideal is probably somewhere in between..
  20. Not 40x.. not 50x.. but exactly 47 times.. :megalol:
  21. There are TK'ers out there. It can get a bit exaggerated on this board. One guy has a bad night, and others feel the need to pile on for post count, etc... The TK'er problem has already been covered nicely. If you have a problem such as a dumb ass blocking the runway in the server or some other issue other than a teamkiller.. "Hey xxxx You are blocking the runway- get out of the way right now or your night in here is over. " (Chances are good someone else will have already asked this person to move, and got an attitude in return) If you're in charge- then take charge. No reason to pussyfoot around with an idiot. You can say "that's rude" all you want. I don't care. I don't have many repeat problems in my squadron's servers. In fact- several of the people who have taken a little wrath fly with us all the time now. Call it tough love. Whoops forgot main point: This is why the servers are locked- with password info on their TS or on websites. Forcing TS on clients is a very effective filter. They are doing it for the good folk's protection- so quitcherbitchin. That said- I would suggest admins to follow Tyger's model and put the passwords on TS. Don't make them hunt for it on your websites..
