  1. Re: the state of DCS regarding VR optimization. Are there any well optimized VR flight games available? (Be it sim or something in between arcade and sim?). Just to experience the feel of flight in VR without the experience being completely arcade?
  2. Ah I see. I would think the CPU needs to calculate only once, and show this to the two different eyes with just a little adjustment. But the CPU needs to calculate both eyes separately adding more load to the CPU compared to just using a normal monitor. In general, based on the advice so far, I think my strategy will be as follows: 0. Buy all flight sim hardware again  1. Start with a Quest 2, enjoy it stand-alone (does VR work for me, do I get nauseous etc?) and simply test it on my PC with different games including DCS. Just to get a feel for what games are possible (if any) and what games are not. 2. Squeeze more power from my current machine by overclocking the CPU and upgrading just the GPU for now. 3. At a later stage, when/if necessary, upgrade all main components (motherboard, memory, CPU) so it works best with the new GPU and with VR. 4. If I enjoy everything, eventually trade in the Quest 2 for more high-end PC VR experience like HP G2.
  3. @stormridersp my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3. I just saw I bought it in 2013, so pretty old stuff :music_whistling: Also, I’m only playing helicopters in DCS (Black Shark, Huey).
  4. Why would a higher clocked cpu be needed? Is this VR related or DCS related in general? I was thinking the gpu would be the most important, with the higher screen resolution needed for two VR viewpoints. I’d expect the CPU requirements would be the same, or is this because the minimum FPS in VR must be relatively high, thus the CPU is more important so it doesn’t dip below the required minimum FPS?
  5. Thanks all for your input so far. In regards to overclocking, I got a good Gelid Solutions Tranquillo (Rev. 2) cooler, so it should be capable to do that I think. However, when I bought the CPU I tried experimenting with overclocking and got a lot of problems as it's not my expertise, so didn't want to risk it, and threw the towel into the ring (as it wasn't needed at that time either). I've got a Seasonic Bronze 520W power supply, I'll have to look up modern power requirements of GPU's, but back in the day it was more than capable. But times change of course :) I'll definitely will research a bit on what budget I'd need if I would build a new PC from scratch (be it new or second hand).
  6. Hi all, a few years ago I had to quit playing DCS and sold my rudder pedals, track-ir and HOTAS etc. Now I want to go back into the game again, this time including VR. But I'm really wondering if my system specs are capable to run DCS decently in VR. Steam VR check says my system is VR ready (just at the beginning of the green bar in the test). What are your thoughts? I have Win 10 with: i5 4670K @ 3.4Ghz 16GB ram (pretty old stuff) RX470 4GB videocard SSD's etc I'm willing to upgrade to a new vid card (but prefer not to), when upgrading I never go for the latest high-end stuff (usually I'm behind 2 or 3 generations). For VR I'm thinking about getting the Quest 2 with the Link cable to attach to PC, but now completely sure yet if that will be best bang for the buck.
  7. So for deactivating both Black Shark 1 and Black Shark 2 I guess we need to run: /DCS World/Mods/Aircrafts/Ka-50/bin/ka50_protect.exe and /Ka-50/bin/stable/protect.exe Because last time I only did deactivation on the Black Shark shortcut by shift clicking it. But it turned out this only deactivated Black Shark 1 instead of both 1 and 2. So we need to do both?
  8. I had exactly the same issues as you describe above! And after rebooting, my computer won't even boot to windows if I have the X52 Pro connected with those drivers. Everything stops working if I plug in the device once booted to Windows. Internet connection issues, explorer.exe crashes, devices can't be accessed in the control panel etc. Anybody has any older drivers available? The Saitek website doesn't offer older versions :(
  9. I would kill for a high resolution oculus rift in dcs world. This will be the future of simming. First I wanted to go for triple monitors, but I am waiting for these VR thingies to mature enough and will definitely get one somewhere down the line,. Must have for immersion!
  10. Cool! So the idea is that you can view these panels on your iPad and get direct access to all those nice switches scattered around the cockpit?
  11. How do I know if I have the latest Huey update?
  12. Can we have a subforum for released user made missions? This way they are neatly tucked away and easy to find :)
  13. Ok. And why would a real pilot use it? In emergency situations or to "reset" the trim? Like, why not just simply don't trim the aircraft in the first place while leaving the force trim on? Or is the activation of the system some kind of trade off...? ah well, it doesnt really matter, I understand the functionality now, just curious :)
  14. Regarding Force Trim, what does it do? I don't mean the trim button, but the actual force trim switch which can be set to on/off? Does it enable/disable the actual trim functionality? Or is it something else?
  15. I searched the forums but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have a nice Track IR profile for the Huey? I'm not so good with the Track IR software, so I always prefer to download a profile used by others :) My previous downloaded Black Shark profile is not good enough to see those panels up above and in the middle of the Huey, cannot roll my head to read the knobs and buttons etc.
