  1. This could be really helpful to me thank you very much indeed.
  2. I am so fed up with this inability to start the Harrier without restarting the mission (then it starts when I go through exactly the same procedure...most of the time). Orso, could you possibly explain, as though to an intelligent newb, exactly how to recalibrate your throttle to avoid this dance?
  3. Hammer 1, I am on exactly the same path as you, just a little further down the road. I too use NOiD's superb profiles but there is some tweaking to be done to get it all to work as intended and I can make your life easier by helping you resolve a few quirks. We should figure out the best way to do this, meanwhile in a few minutes I will edit this post with a link to a thread in which TARGET power-user Frederf was very helpful to me. (I am not understanding the point of protea1's link above but perhaps I am missing something. It appears just to be an unfiltered list of DCS resources). OK, here is the link to my own thread about all this. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=229336 As you will see, Frederf is a real TARGET guru who was enormously helpful to me. As I say, there are quirks so I am very happy to help you resolve any remaining issues. NOiD's profiles for TARGET are great but I'm not sure how active he is at the moment.
  4. Yes, I am on the verge of doing that; I suppose I could simply recreate almost all of the TARGET profile’s assignments (but not the scripting) directly into the DCS profile input and save it. What’s confusing about this situation is that sometimes it works exactly as it should and sometimes it doesn’t.
  5. I am tearing out what's left of my hair over this and would appreciate some advice. It often takes more than three attempts, sometimes including a reboot and/or much switching my TM HOTAS devices on and off, to get the joystick recognised once I'm in the cockpit. I load the profile into TARGET, that goes fine and in the sim's control interface I load to right profiles into the Virtual Device and keyboard columns. The problem is that after most attempts, the joystick input is dead and I have to get out of the sim, stop the TARGET profile, and start the whole process again. Eventually it works. I have disabled "Allow the Computer to Turn off This Device" in all Windows 10-connected USB devices. I know I have to do this after every update. As I said, I often disconnect and then reconnect all three TM devices before activating the TARGET profile, which creates the Virtual Device. I could just make my own profile for the separate devices in the sim's Control interface but I really like this user-made TARGET profile, some scripting aspects of which cannot be replicated within DCS. Can anybody give me some tips and tricks that might help me out here? Many thanks.
  6. Thank you for this useful information. There is definitely something out of sync between the Harrier's throttle/wheelbrake setup and the TM Warthog throttle's idle-cutoff to idle translation. Bringing the throttle out of idle and into minimum power input does not register, as you say, and to get the Harrier's engine to spool, I have to bump it up momentarily, at which point it "wakes up". Making matters worse is the fact that (I think) I have to do this with the parking brake disengaged, or that sabotages the throttle's required input too. Still I am happy to live with this workaround although my ground crew would not be happy. (I always re-engage the parking brake after I've lit up the engine successfully).
  7. I have experienced logic problems in the startup sequence (see my separate thread) of a similar nature. The only procedure that seems to guarantee a successful engine start every time for me with the Warthog throttle in the physical idle detent is to disengage the wheelbrake until the engine has lit off and then re-engage it (in aft position). If I don’t do this, the sim often fails to recognise initial physical throttle movement on first attempt at startup and this appears to be an unrecoverable situation.
  8. The Pucara was certainly deployed by Argentina in the Falklands but my assumption would have been — because it’s flown by a crew and otherwise off the beaten track for DCS platforms — that it is being created as a non-flyable AI aircraft for that theatre. Do we know if this is definitely not the case? Edit: Just saw that they have announced the Pucara so, well, never mind!
  9. Here's my successful M.O.: I disengage the parking brake as soon as I hit the cockpit for a cold start, otherwise the sim will not respond to throttle movement later when I need to take it out of idle. After I get the engine spooling I re-engage the parking brake, but only after taking the throttle out of the idle detent. This is the only workaround there is for me, I think.
  10. You mean move it out of idle cutoff using the mouse in the pit rather than physically moving the throttle? Interesting. I will try as soon as I am back in the sim.
  11. I'm using NOiD's very well-crafted profile for the AV8 and the Warthog HOTAS. I am not competent with the TARGET editor so I am not sure how he programmed the throttle detent but I am pretty sure it works as intended...except in this one instance, which seems to be an anomaly.
  12. It seems to me that I can only ever start the AV8 from cold (no APR) at the second attempt, i.e. after failing the first time and restarting the mission. I have a good, reliable startup checklist but whether I follow that to the letter or just do the necessary steps to get the engine running, at the first attempt I can hear something spool up but taking the Warthog throttle out of its idle detent does not increase the RPM or output turbine power and I'm now stuck. When I restart the mission, I perform exactly the same sequence of actions and it starts up successfully. I have a theory that it might be about the Warthog, the infamous parking brake and this particular a/c's state when started from cold. There might be a logic conflict involving each element's condition on initial startup that somehow gets resolved after a failed attempt. Can anyone help? Many thanks.
  13. Thank you both very much. I am pretty sure you've helped me troubleshoot this.
  14. Sorry, but can you elaborate? I see a TrackIR folder in the path you specified (but for the AV8NA) but there is no data in the folder...
  15. I'm getting a vexing problem with TrackIR: it sometimes drops out in DCS (showing one green light on left of sensor but no response to head movement) yet when I alt-tab out of DCS, it works properly and is responsive in the TIR display. To get it working again in DCS I have to restart the sim. I am pretty dependent on TIR in the Harrier as there is no other way to peek around obstacles in order to see all MFD buttons and data. I have adjusted Windows 10 power settings to "Performance", which apparently prevents the system from snoozing USB devices, but that seems not to be the solution so I am scratching my head. Any ideas? Many thanks.
  16. You nailed it, thank you!! It's so counter-intuitive that it would have taken me forever to figure out, especially as it appeared to look right in the hydraulic pressure indicator. Thanks again!
  17. I have TM rudder pedals which I'm using with a Warthog HOTAS. In the AV8 cockpit, the hydraulic pressure indicator shows an increase in pressure when I depress the toe-brakes and the pedal brake animation moves but it appears to have no stopping effect on the a/c when taxiing. This is going to make ground handling and roll-out very difficult. Can anyone help?
  18. Guys, am I correct in assuming that Baltic_Dragon is releasing these missions currently? I just bought the module and was surprised to see a pretty complete list of voice-over training missions but nothing on the various takeoff modes, or simple navigation. I've searched but I cannot find downloads. Excuse the novice question but can anyone help me out? Many thanks.
  19. Thanks for this. I will use your flow and maybe even make a checklist out of it.
  20. FWIW, I was unable to dial in Krymsk's RSBN channel but others worked.
  21. Well, my assumption is that with the mechanical throttle cutoff for the Warthog, I shouldn't have to map it, unless I am missing something. The parking brake, however, is a different matter. Pesky thing!
  22. Thank you but I am using the non-Beta version. There is just one DCS-related folder, "DCS" in my Saved Games directory.
  23. Thank you. But isn't that the path I created? Here's how it looks: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qvp39zywgyb8ip7/Kneeboard.jpg?dl=0 And yet no sign of these images in the Harrier's in-cockpit kneeboard function. I might be missing something very simple here. Thank you for all your help and patience.
