  1. Oh I see, makes more sense. So as far as monitoring AoA on approach, you either use the tape to the left of the hud controls or go into special options and add it to the hud?
  2. How can it be used for landing if it only appears with weight on wheels? It even says this on that page, page 95, "It also helps getting the best areobraking pitch when landing, while still avoiding tail strike." I assume by "aerobraking" the devs mean AoA. So how can the inverted T be used for an AoA indicator during landing if it only activates with WoW? I'm so confused :book:
  3. Title sums it up. Whenever I can get the cash together to buy the warthog stick, and whenever they are available again, this is the stick I'm going to get. Currently my T16000 is side mounted to the arm of my computer chair. I'd like to have my warthog center mounted and the only thing I can think of is have it sit on the floor with some sort of weighted base and have an extension bring it up to my lap. I've seen plenty of commercial extensions but they are all straight. I'm interested in the extension being angled near the top so it comes over the seat of my chair and further in to my lap. Is there anything like this out there? If not, what suggestions do ya'll have to build it? PVC pipe or something? Thanks
  4. I'm not a programmer, but the AI flight models don't behave like they're in the same physical world. They never seem to stall, and every AI whether it is ww2 or modern in DCS does the same thing when in a dogfight: vertical loops. It's not enjoyable.
  5. It's June, fellas. Give me a no bullshit assessment: Is the A model coming out this year or not?
  6. Yeah I think I have curves on everything except helicopters, but on those I put negative curves on the rudders to make them more responsive. I think a low curve of 5 is ok for now with the m2000. But it has a fbw and I tend to think that fbw jets require a curve to get the feel for a flight stick that has a long extension as opposed to my simple desktop style flight stick
  7. Just curious to see what yall are using for your pitch and roll axis curves, if any? Chuck's guide suggests 0 for X and Y. I use different curvature for different aircraft. I think my F-18 is 15-20ish, can't recall. My F-14 is around 5. Right now I'm at 0 for the M-2000C but wondering if it wouldn't be better to fly at 5-10?

    2000B and 2000D

Lol yikes. They need some ADHD meds and a project manager.
  9. Funny because I had the absolute opposite experience with trapping. Not only was the F-14 my first DCS carrier jet, but it was my first jet on dcs period. I got a 2 or 3 wire on my first try, though the rest of the case I was not proper (I crashed a lot after trying to do the case I properly). The tomcat has issues with being too forgiving when landing at high drop rate. I find the hornet has a more believable trap model. Though I agree that the tomcat in general feels better to fly and feels more powerful. But I prefer the crazy AoA you can do with the hornet, and I don't have to worry about jester screwing things up.
  10. Anecdotal, but caucuses map seems to have slower ground movement than Persian gulf. Even going 800 kias in a tomcat near the ground on Caucuses looks visually slow.
  11. The AI in this game is atrocious
  12. I'd love them in fact, except the p-51 and the spit are not saving my keybinds properly. Reported the bug but all I'm getting is people arguing with me like I don't know how to save my keybinds. F-18 has never reverted keybinds on me, nor any of the other modules. But yes, if the p-51 would actually properly save/load my keybinds, it'd be quite good with the normandy map and asset pack. I already own the 109 but it doesn't feel like it is accurately modeled to me. Can't be certain of course, but the way it behaves in the vertical makes me think it has poorly scripted events in its flight model. I'm really frustrated though with the P-51. I love it. It feels way more realistic than IL-2s p-51. But damn I'm not spending anything on it if it won't load my keybinds properly.
  13. Today after playing some IL-2 boddenplatte (where the controls actually save) I loaded up the DCS P-51 and ran another instant action mission on normandy, specifically dog fight, and magically my controls were loaded and worked properly. Then after turning off DCS to do something else and then turning it back on a bit later, I tried another instant action mission in the P-51, and hilariously the game decided to revert my keybinds not to default this time, but to some other "in-between" version of keybinds I had set up. Lol what is this mess? Is this related to the free month? Is it steam? Or is the p-51 module just so bad that it cannot load keybinds consistently? The flight models on the p-51, spit, and 109 already feel questionably unrealistic, but I'm no pilot so I guess I can't debate that point intelligently. What I can say intelligently is that a game as expensive as the average DCS module, and one that takes away dev time from the modern stuff specifically because "It's easy to train new devs with" should at the VERY LEAST be able to properly save and maintain the user keybinds.
  14. I don't think you are reading or otherwise listening to me. Why are you in here debating, arguing, or providing counter points to my bug report?
  15. I've never EVER had this issue with any other module I own. I set up keybinds both in the main menu and in an instant action, or a mission, or a campaign. It has never mattered. The keybinds reverted before I opened up the lua. The keybinds reverted before the game crashed. I mentioned the game crash to add to my sheer frustration. I already purchased bodenplatte so I don't care. Fix it or don't, it's just ridiculous that such phenomenal pieces of work as ED's P-51 and Spit are held back so much by basic shit like keybind bugs. Seriously.
  16. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=270603 I'm reposting my bug report here in this section as I think it's more appropriate here than under steam support. I'm trying out the p51 during the free month. 3 times now in two days my keybinds have reverted. The first two times the keybinds reverted to default setting. Last night after the game crashed when I was trying to create and edit a fast mission my keybinds reverted to an interim set of binds before I had completed my keybind set up. As I stated in the original post, I can go into the dcs config\input folder and find the lua file for the p51, and when I open it in text I can see my keybinds mentioned in there. I'm no programmer so I have zero idea as to why the game is screwing around with my keybinds. This plane, and the spit, and the Normandy map and assets, are all beautiful products. But I refuse to pay any money for this absolute headache of rebinding keys. I don't even want to keep doing the free trial on these planes. I was prepared to spend the sale price of $60 for the map, assets, and plane, but geez. I'm just gonna get boddenplatte and then get the dcs stuff on a different sale if it's ever fixed.
  17. Ok I'm sorry but the P-51 is just unplayable, and this is 100% depressing. My keybinds did save for a day, but now they've reverted again. And they reverted after the game crashed twice while trying to generate a fast mission for the p51.... I don't play multiplayer. Your mustang, spit, and 109 are some of the most beautifully designed sim aircraft I've ever seen and they are an absolute joy to fly, but damn... keybinds won't save, game crashes, and beyond that there's obviously no real campaign. Frustrated!
  18. Turning it off then. Probably will help with some frames too
  19. Yeah my keybinds are in the input folder. I just opened the .lua file in notepad and I see my changes. So why won't the game read the controls lua?6
  20. I was/am playing on sim, unless I misunderstand. I don't have game flight mode selected, and I had entered all my keybinds under the P-51D "Real" section. Regardless, both the P-51D "Real" and "Easy" control list have no trace of my keybinds. Take off assistance was at 100 for some reason. I reduced it to 0. Not sure if this would affect the key binds? To the other poster, I have no clue how to swap between the 25 and the 30 P-51. Maybe that's the issue?
  21. Game flight and Game avionics are unticked. I checked my config\input folder and there is a P-51D folder in there with files. Could there be an issue loading it?
  22. I'm a steam user and I downloaded the P-51D, Normandy map, and ww2 asset pack to try out before purchasing on sale. I've also downloaded the F-5 and the spit, if it matters for info reasons. Anyways I spent a good hour setting up keybinds last night and saved them multiple times. I loaded up the game today and not a single keybind for the P-51D was saved. The keybind list looks exactly as it did when I first downloaded the trial. I can't stomach trialing a bunch of aircraft if the keybinds won't save lol. Is this a re-occurring issue or is it just mine? :helpsmilie:
  23. I dunno how you choose lol. If you enjoy helicopters, then you need the Ka-50 eventually. It's one of ED's best modules. Flying it is very different from other helos but it's also very interesting. I would avoid the SA342 gaz altogether. I picked it up in the helicopter pack but it just feels terrible, long standing debate about it's flight model aside. I just don't like it. The rest are WW2 planes. I first bought the K4 out of the group as I love the 109, but I'm going to end up having to buy the normandy map and the asset pack to get any real enjoyment out of it. But of the group I think I'd recommend the P-51, which I'm about to get. The reason being is the P-51 can double as a ground attack bird, so if you get the asset pack and the normandy map you can get some ground attack enjoyment out of the ww2 stuff. There's almost zero single player ww2 air to air enjoyment to be had until they improve the AI flight model. The AI defies physics that the player is bound to, so they just do infinite vertical loops that you can never keep up with. The short of it is, if you're willing to buy the asset pack and the normandy map, then get the P-51. If not, get the Ka-50.
  24. I noticed Nick also said there would be another 50% sale. Does this extend to steam users? Oh and how does one actually try the products for free - Do you have to download standalone versions or something from the e shop?
