  1. Great drawings - Virpil should have them on their page WarBRD grip is clearly shorter than T50 one, thus 5cm extension would make them approximately equal. To repeat - Virpil stated that gimbal of the WarBRD base is strong enough to handle the stiffer springs and extension leverage. The risk is that (when using older 90-degree desk mounts) this increased area of movement comes with a chance of banging the grip against the mount or the table. Damage is not covered under warranty Some people claimed that with long extensions they feel nearly no resistance around the center of the movement. Even with the provided strong springs.
  2. Which bearing exactly has failed? The main one of the "stick" on which the grip is mounted? (That's what I expect from your comment in the first place) Or the one on which come is mounted or the one riding on a cam? My (very humble) knowledge says that this type of the bearing dislike tilt and asymmetrical load but in roller blades they are exposed to much higher and abrupt abuse. But maybe I am just underestimating leverage and spring effects on the twist and crushing applied on them in gimbal. I'll keep watching as this gimbal interests me and from pictures it is going to be some work to dismantle it, remove and mount bearing. Good luck!
  3. :smartass: Thus from humble question you immediately go after one of the possible top combos. What I have learnt so far: - if you want TM compatibility, go for the Virpil bases. VKB is not direct one and their adapter is a rare fish to catch - if you want desktop-only solution, Virpil's WarBRD is probably way to go, although both top bases by VKB and Virpil are also great. - for extension and top dog - it seems that people prefer VKB's controller a little more. Told by people claiming to own both of them - if you want factory package, both Virpil and VKB are great Virpil has throttle so you may have their HOTAS and deal with one software to rule them both ;) As for throttle there is IMHO easy choice: TM TWCS -> TM Warthog -> Virpil throttle unit quality and price go up in this way. I have TWCS and it is nice piece for fairly little money. Just smoothness of the movement is suffering from stickness. You want something better for i.e twin engine very sophisticated bird and have money to spend? Buy Warthog. You still have fair sum of money left? Buy Virpil Go to the Virpil sub-forum and ask people there about that base
  4. once again there is additional 10% reduction on WarBRD base and grip till the 17th sept. Just to remind potential buyers https://virpil-controls.eu/
  5. Respectfully: State your budget. Because fairly easy answer would be: Go to the either Virpil or VKB controller section and check which one you prefer. Prices? Around 400+ € for the stick setup, same for the throttle. And you can pay more for other products as you can easily find here. But I do not own them, I am humble MS Sidewinder FF2 jockey - just it seems that every owner is happy with them
  6. So their adapters are "grip specific" not "base specific"? On their EU store they have adapter (GF Pro) marked as "for Warthog". I have always thought that means that it makes compatible the grips made for Warthog base not only Warthog grip itself.
  7. Do not worry, I got it, I know range of the prices of the above mentioned devices, including the Logitech set. I am just a little bit afraid that you slightly missed that little point: Fair number of people is looking at their budget whether they have budget to buy i.e. Virpil controller set. Even those sim fans. And than you see a doctor FrankenSIM who buys complete controller just to transplant the head on another body. And that new nice body goes to mausoleum. There is simply that taste of the strangeness no matter how much you understand "why". We have one saying that translated is "I am not going to buy whole pig when I want to eat sausage". And this is kind of a antithesis. *joke launch detected* Once again: I understand why is so. Enjoy. Really. As I am personally thinking about doing something similar to one of my Sidewinders FF2. Just maybe using old Suncom F-15 grip and converting it to MMJoy. I am not on your level
  8. I know and I have seen few 3d models for printers to do this. As I am not 3d printer owner I was looking for kind of a "how to" just coming across thread die at around 50 Euro. I was questioning myself why Virpils extension - piece of threaded tube costs 24 €). Of course, you can use 3D printer, buy it, order the print, eventually you can use those fittings for size reduction for tube that is more easy to find or to make threads on and also to bend if you want curved extension. I checked that tools do we have, for smaller diameters we have the dies, but M32 would be a single use overkill.
  9. I am not talking about more fancy sim jewelry, rather about buying base just for electronic board and throwing all mechanical part away - mechanical part of the higher end base. Neither I am saying that I do not understand why and so on, just ... poor WarBRD ;) Well, I wonder what would be the results of the comparison between industrial-made thread (one not meant to be ultra precise) and hand-cut one when it comes to the precision. Just to know when it would be better to trust myself
  10. pretty expensive job :shocking: Just that threading die for this size is already fairly expensive (I was looking for it when thinking about some projects). Btw. although already done for someone else - there are fairly cheap cable fitting reductions with M32 thread and smaller one that would allow to look form either cheaper die or even something commercially available. They may be even used to make extension for Virpil controllers. Examples https://www.kaiser-elektro.de/en_DE/products/industrial-products/accessories-for-cable-glands/reduction-and-enlarging-fittings/
  11. Do not try to ride a dead horse! Alec Delorean: Hold my beer! Can you provide us with some description what had to be done and what have you achieved? Do you have full grip functionality and so one?
  12. Thanks and to all. I am very bad at electronics thus I am trying to figure out how the things works. For original MJoy I had somewhere even plans for PCB for matrix array with some blocks to channel branches of buttons into one connector thus reducing wiring and it was readable to me. This is one step more. If I use Debolestis' files and schemes (at least some of them are TM compatible - that was something I was looking for) would it be possible to connect them to Arduino/MMjoy and use provided programming of the controller board or it would require some re-work? As for beginner it is easier to focus on one basic layout even if it is used for different controller types.
  13. Do you know any guide how shift registers work and how they should be connected with switches? I am planning some panels and that would be quite useful as it also requires fair number of the switches. And world of electronics and PCBs is fairly unknown to me.
  14. That is my number one. Most likely with extension. Thus if I really say myself "go for it" this is probably what I will get. but I am still having quarrel with my wallet :D When NOObifier dissmantled their new WarBRD grip, it was nice build. If I decide the Virpil to be the winner, that would be possibly my choice as other grip is more expensive and that cosmic one is visually ugly for me. Incoming grip looks functionally as great option but I expect it to be at least a full-price one. But for now waiting is not an issue for me, unless one company's store goes on "Black Friday" - I do not expect them to do so.
  15. My main question would be (and is) the price. As for what I can get VKB Gunfighter with MCG grip (non PRO one), thus hi-end base, I can get just Virpil's WarBRD base with comparable grip. Mongoos base combo is so much more expensive. And as I still want to keep my spending in reasonable range, I consider grip extension as interesting property that Mongoos' price is still a deal breaker. And I keep in mind that all 3 bases were judged favorably by several reviewers (and grips as well). So it is still rather question what you like, how much money you have, but you will get the promised performance.
  16. - Another "budget" option (that is really becoming oxymoron) is TM Throttle and VKB/Virpil controller. As VPC throttle costs nearly as much as whole TM's HOTAS - or TM HOTAS plus VPC WarBRD base as the difference in price for TM Throttle and HOTAS is roughly the price of the VPC's premium grip, thus you already have the grip that some people prefer and need just a good base. and so on. Fair number of combinations if someone is not about to pay full price for full Rudder + Throttle + Controller combo manufactured by premium companies (and TM is not anymore in that class)
  17. Is not Thrustmaster T16000M better option? Prices usually vary a lot over the sellers and the world, for me there is an overlap, but I am far away from Canada. But it has Hall sensor for main axes, durability in this price range is always subject to discussions. Bonus is that if you would like to spent another small sum of money, you can buy budget TWCS throttle made by same company using same control and programming software.
  18. To me it looks like nice and fairly universal grip. If they manage to do the ergonomics part properly, it might be one of the best options on the market.
  19. I live in Central European country. I haven't bought anything from outside European Union for quite a while, thus I do not know exact actual rules, but before once you bought something more expensive than some low threshold, you had to pay tax and also customs duty that was calculated if I remember it correctly from the price of the thing plus tax plus transport fee. So do not think that you live in the only state of the world that do its best to take money out of your pocket in any way possible :megalol: I was thinking about buying Virpil produts, but when you make your choice, go to the shopping cart, add your country of origin and it immediately adds 20% tax to the previously acceptable price, it is very very discouraging. P.S. WarBRD base would cost me 227€ shipping and tax included. As it is EU sho I hope than there is no customs fee. Wonder how much you have to pay in Canada
  20. Few questions: - when? Obviously :music_whistling: - price? As Virpil already has its own and it costs as much as their premium grip this is quite interesting part - how usable wold be that grip for anyone except for :D wannabe :D Mavericks? Judging from that other product it seems to me that it has fewer buttons and so on. Especially that weapon selector - what will be its usage in other planes and other sims than DCS. I.e. in Il-2: BoX would it be possible to program it so it would swap weapons fired by the main trigger button?
  21. If that grip was already mapped for that particular aircraft I see no reason to do so. Unless you want to change the grip you use i.e. you were flying F-14 with Kosmoshima and now you would like to use incoming F-14 grip. At least when I changed my joystick setup and opened keybinding profile in the game, it was mapped for previous stick and when I re-plugged it in, it was recognized and functional. (But I do not use VKB products - at least not yet) Thus unless VKB base with every grip swapping make for it some random identification code it should not happened. And you have also their software where you can set the thing.
  22. Thank you for the reply. Hopefully some time in future I will make myself happy with another toy for older boys :) Looks good.
  23. Sorry to ask something what was for sure already asked (but nearly 250 pages are just too much): 1. What is the support of Il-2: BoX? As it is described as "beta". 2. Rise of Flight - supported or not? As with DCS these are my 3 sims that I am interested in and as BoX is most likely to be my No.1 this is quite interesting for me. 3. Do you use some local parts (especially vibration motors) or are they eventually possible to buy elsewhere (European Union) - just in case of the repair? 4. KW-90x vs. JetSeat FSE - any difference other than outside packing? I am not simpit builder but I found fabric to be more comfortable than rubber/leather and its substitutes Honestly, I am not just now in a mood of immediate buying and I have just found your product, but for now it is in my list of future acquisitions (at the moment it is 2nd behind good joystick).
  24. Exactly my first thought the moment I saw the picture - even before reading the text and looking at that friendly fella. :) I hope that Virpil has some agreement with copyright owners, otherwise ... who knows what happens if they decide to "seek financial justice". I hope that ergonomics are as good as design - these are not supersport cars bought by collectors, people are buying them IMHO for really serious gaming use, thus if it doesn't fit their needs they do not buy it.
  25. Weel I am quite sure that it did no take 7 years to debolestis to make his PCBs and shiftboards to be compatible with old Suncom F-15 grip (that is twin brother of the F-18's one) and make it TM base compatible. :D And he had to work with existing internal dimensions and mounting points
