ok. got it. fixing the DCS did not delete the folder I was told to create to use a created skin. That folder prevented the game from running properly.

nope. in fact, now I cannot load the plane at all. I get the "save mission" prompt and yet it will not let me click no and fly the plane. Others work

I accidentally deleted the default skin and its texture folder. 1st time trying to install new skins and the instructions provided were confusing and woefully inadequate. Please help. Now my f-86 is all yellow with "warning: missing textures" printed across the side.

I click the exe... launcher begins to initiate and then it crashes "DCS has stopped working". I hope I don't have to re install because I just wont. It is such a hassle to install this beast. i'll live without it. Game worked fine a few weeks ago. Suddenly won't work.

Can I uninstall BS 1 after installing world et al? I looked around the web and couldn't find the answer and I'd rather not screw up to have to install everything again.

As for the three hours, when I was installing Im doing a million other things, so I leave it to transfer and install, so coupled with troubleshooting, and testing it took about three hours. My point though, is that I cannot imagine I am the ONLY one who is frustrated and flabbergasted at the installation. Im no computer engineer, but I've been installing things forever and this is by far the finickiest thing I have ever fought with. As it grows, and I hope it does, the underlying infrastructure is going to need to become simpler and more user friendly. Surely steps can be taken to make the process easier. I mean, I'm with DCS for the long haul, its worth the trouble, but just imagine if it was less trouble. Don't get me wrong, I love this sim and all it stands for in todays gaming landscape, I just want installing it to be easier. Now I know that if I downloaded all the files fresh today it would be easier (except that I have black shark 1 + upgrade<<<<<which in my view IS an easy simplification), but I'd rather not have to do that if I can help it.

Ok, Its been a while. It seems the only time I post to the forums is when Im having a NIGHTMARE time installing these games. So I got a boss new pc for sims and I decide to install DCS world. First, I install DCS world.. check, then I install black shark 1 to install black shark 2 then I find out that I need an older version of DCS world to install black shark 2 too, so I uninstall DCS world and reinstall and install black shark 1 and then install black shark 2 then I uninstall black shark 1 then I install p-51, then I install dcs a10, to find out that the dcs a10 I installed is the wrong one, so I uninstall it and install the right one now it appears that dcs world is no longer on my computer, sure the files are all there but there is apparently no way to launch. So I have to start again (three hours by the way and thats WITH the files on an external). Lets compare that to how I installed rise of flight and all its planes, add-ons and miscellany that I have for it... I hit the install button, and it installed it and it worked. I REALLY think its time this convoluted mess of a game gets a new, simplified and better system for installation.

I should mention that I got it working and am having a blast. Thank you to all those who helped me.

Before I do this... will this mess up the game or prevent future updates? With the latest patch the rest of the modules are running better than they ever have.

I can't find a .bat file anywhere. I'm lost with this stuff

So, when I get to installing FC3 I get the following message: Can't install FC# 1.2.2.7122 into newer DCS World 1.2.2.7204. Please, download FCS 1.2.2.7204 installer. I cannot find anything remotely like that. Please help. -sorry about posting twice. I thought it was more appropriate in the installation help forum.

Nah. After I waggle the collective, it goes away, and I have to work the bird back to the ground sans AP, which after using ap so much these days... takes some patience.
