  1. Could data known on the joysticks on specific aircraft be used to make a maximum G limit for them in DCS? Say an average fighter pilot has arm strength to pull a stick with 'x' newtons, and at 'y' G the force of the stick in the opposite direction to pilot input becomes 'x' newtons, then a DCS players' inputs would be limited at 'y' G and wouldn't be able to exceed 'y' G's. Perhaps the pilots' strength over time in a manoeuvre decreasing could be simulated, decreasing the 'y' G limit. Some sort of virtual force feedback, although hopefully implemented in a way more realistic than I could possible describe. Realms of fantasy? :joystick:
  2. Heatblur, I know you're busy, but please. This is the most state of the art fighter in Europe after the opening stages of the cold war. I know you guys can make it happen.
  3. Hey, With how canopy rain and wing vapour is being implemented in DCS it got me thinking about the other cosmetic effects I'd love to see in the game eventually. This is just a wishlist and I can assume some of these may already be on the way. Absolutely feel free to add your own! Thanks! -Mach effects e.g. vapour cones -'Baked on' canopy reflections replaced by real reflections (toggle-able in options?) -Canopy mist and ice -Light doesn't 'ignore' solid objects -Improved catapult steam -Smoother shadow edges (anti-aliasing options?)
  4. I've recently got my computer to a point where it can handle shadows in DCS, but the lines are really jagged and off putting even on high. I remember they used to be much better, thanks for the temporary fix though! Hope for an official one soon.
  5. Of course it'd be better to have this problem fixed directly, but this^ would be a neat stopgap measure if it's really an issue so difficult that it takes over half a year to work through.
  6. Has anyone responded to this yet? It says [REPORTED] but I still get this in the OB and this thread dates back to June.
  7. Agreed about the pilot's superhuman ability to pull on the stick hard enough to get g-forces so high. It's something that needs looking at in DCS in general, so the F-14 works well for how DCS is currently in that respect. Loved the MiG-28 easter egg. Got me thinking if Jester would ever call an F-5 an F-5, but having now seen the discussion about the callouts corresponding to the skin I am impressed!
  8. Been showing the MiG-15 some love recently, and I think seeing as we have a sabre as well that a MiG Valley + assets is a must at some point.
  9. Thank you! I was wondering if it was intentional. As for the flickering, it doesn't seem to occur if I have shadows on, but shadows are quite expensive so I usually do without. Cockpit global illumination doesn't seem to have an effect either way.
  10. My graphics settings, cockpit with nose light CB off, cockpit with nose light CB on.
  11. I've noticed a couple of bugs in the OB for the MiG-15 both regarding the nose light, so I've kept them together. Bug 1. Turning on the nose light causes flickering white light in the cockpit (sometimes not visible if the MiG-15 is stationary, but always appears when in motion). In the external view, flickering light is visible on the exterior too, mainly inside the nose, around the canopy, and the wing roots. Bug(?) 2. Switching on the circuit breaker for the nose light appears to also turn on a light in the cockpit someplace to the left of the pilot (just circuit breaker, nose light on/off doesn't affect this). Not certain if this is a bug, or a feature I don't know about. Will attach DxDiag and track. Thanks! Edit: sorry for not posting in the bugs section, I thought I had DxDiag.txt mig 15 nose light bug.trk
  12. Thanks for the quick reply! I do look forward for being in the RIO's position too, it'll certainly be a new experience for me in DCS.
  13. Curious why every video doesn't show the RIO's position. Is it the back seat that isn't ready for a showcase yet, or the pilot AI? Enjoyed the video though. Very happy to absorb anything on the Tomcat at the minute!
  14. Maybe off topic, but- The Farmer is going out as a complete module? If that's true you've just earned my purchase. To get slightly back on topic, pics.
  15. Partly in light of what has happened with the Hawk, but mainly because of being autistic with too much time on my hands but not an excess of money, I created this handy guide for when you are unsure whether or not to purchase an aircraft in DCS. Yes, it probably should've been a flow chart instead  Enjoy! 1. Do you want this aircraft? If 'no', do not purchase this aircraft. If 'yes', continue. 2. Will you be able to enjoy the aircraft in the state it is currently in for a reasonable length of time? If 'no', continue. If 'yes', skip to question 5. 3. Are the developers of the aircraft module likely to develop the module to a state that will be enjoyable for a reasonable length of time, in a reasonable amount of time? If 'no', continue. If 'yes', skip to question 5. 4. Is the current price of the module low to the extent that you can disregard the security of your purchase? If 'no', do not purchase this aircraft. If 'yes', continue. 5. Do you have the expendable funds to purchase this aircraft? If 'no', acquire the expendable funds before you continue. If 'yes', continue. 6. Do you want to get this aircraft at the current price, now? If 'no', do no purchase this aircraft until you can answer 'yes' to this question. If 'yes', purchase this aircraft. If you have answered 'yes' to question 6, but your partner has answered 'no', reconsider your partner then purchase this aircraft.
  16. I enjoyed the first video on the Tomcat on HB's youtube channel, although it's not much many of us don't already know it adds a lot of depth to what would otherwise just be a flight sim and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!
  17. I'm liking these textures. If the MiG-19 becomes available later this month as ED has announced I think we can be expecting a lot more pics!
  18. I'm not gonna complain about the hype- I like to be in the know and it's great when we're kept updated, and given the choice to pre-order for if we wish to. I took that as an option to support the developers and jump into the cat as soon as it's released, and of course to get myself a little discount. ;) As far as I'm concerned, the release date of the tomcat is confirmed, but we *may* get it before then. Thank you heatblur for bringing us the Tomcat! We understand the pressure that this alone brings, and I think most of us would rather it be released later and closer to completion, than earlier and missing important features. Best wishes
  19. Vietnam I think is a must, with the volume of appropriate aircraft we have and are going to have. It'd also be interesting, given the large time-frame of the Vietnam war, what options could be implemented to change a map depending on the time period. I'd just love to see more fitting maps and assets in general for the aircraft we currently have, the aircraft are great alone for the most part but we need a world to immerse, a world beyond the cockpit.
  20. Gotta say, I do love my bare metal jets, and it actually looks bare metal which is some serious feat.
  21. It's just fun to speculate, but it made a little sense considering I couldn't think of many reason there's a rule against posting otherwise public info on post 1980 aircraft on a Russian website. Guess now we know it's the F-16, it's time for a 'What's after the F-16?' thread xD
  22. F-111 seems like a cool aircraft! But the Tornado is just more special to myself, and would help with the oversaturation of US airframes when it comes to modern aircraft in DCS.
  23. If the rule on posting aircraft documents comes into place from 1980 onward I'd assume that high fidelity Russian jets can't be from 1980 onward either. Just pure speculation. I'd love more high fidelity jets of any side from the middle of the cold war.
  24. Think my test proves that wrong- only because the spits win even many skills lower. In a nutshell, the 12 'average' Spitfires massacred all 12 'excellent' Doras with a loss of only 2 of their own. They faced each other head on, with the same starting speed, both at 20k feet. Methinks you're right about the AI :smartass: I'll repeat it but with the Axis having a speed and alt advantage for the sake of it, but I think only human pilots are gonna show up any distinct disadvantage the Mk. IX has against the axis. Edit: spits win again. It's either an overpowered miracle plane contrary to this thread, or the AI is a bit naff. I know which reason I want it to be ;)
  25. I'm curious now, I'm gonna set up some spit v 109 and spit v 190 AI battles and see how they handle the Spitfire against the adversaries it faces. Not sure if the results would say more about the AI or more about players!
