  1. Thank you. You may encounter a few problems with it due to the recent DCS World updates so I'm in the middle of completing a complete review and update of the campaign. Should be complete within the next few weeks but may be a while before ED posts it for download. Let me know if you run into any problems with it which would make my QC job a bit easier. John
  2. Buzz, I was going to send you a link for my A-10C campaign Operation Agile Spear for your 80th birthday. I sent you a direct message which you may have missed. I just need your email to send you the link.
  3. @BuzzU Buzz, I would also recommend reading "Hogs in the Sand" by Buck Wyndham which is an excellent story of his deployment to Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. I really enjoyed his story and, while a bit dated as he was flying A-10A's, it still offers great insight into a Hog Driver's deployment to war. I couldn't put it down.
  4. @OdessaGreat. I'm glad. Thank you. I agree it's not relevant but I was trying to reflect the hardships and difficulties which professional soldiers in the U.S. military encounter when deployed. I probably won't do this for future campaigns but it was important for me at the time because as I was creating this campaign, I learned of a friend of mine took his life due to the hardships he had to endure after returning from his fifth deployment. His death hit me very hard and I wanted to try to reflect that in the campaign. I thought long and hard about not having mission PDF's in the Doc folder but I didn't want players looking ahead and anticipating upcoming missions which I consider cheating. Other than that, DCS World doesn't offer a way to "unlock" mission PDF's prior to teach mission so I decided to not include them in the Doc folder. I would love to allow the player to be able to read a pdf document prior to "stepping" to the jet (or even include the player in the preflight mission briefing) but there isn't a way (that I know of) to do that in DCS. I've heard rumors of a "briefing room" being planned for a future update but only for the Supercarrier. I agree and initially had most of the mission AI aircraft on the same frequency to give a little background chatter but had my wrist slapped by several Beta testers who pointed out that other aircraft would be on different frequencies so I changed that prior to releasing the campaign. It's been my personal experience that most, if not all, mission "players" would be on the same frequency so as to enable coordination and deconfliction. But, what do I know. I was just a non-aircrew Mission Essential Personnel (MEP) in my in-flight duties. Having said that, I'm finishing up a complete top-to-bottom review and update of the entire campaign and think I've found a happy medium for those like you who want more "background chatter". I agree with you and think you'll like what I've done with the updated campaign. Probably not. I've not had a lot of luck getting DCS helicopters to do even the most simple tasks but I may look at that again. Thanks again for your insight and constructive criticism. I appreciate you taking the time to offer your opinions. I value all the players inputs. I may not implement your suggestions but I do consider each and every one of them. My best to you and your family, John
  5. @LurzHello and my apologies for not responding sooner. I missed this message. I can confirm this was a problem and I've fixed it since you reported this problem and also developed a new script for the helo smoke which I'm hoping will not break in future DCS World updates. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm finishing up a complete top-to-bottom review of the campaign so look for it to be released with the next DCS World update (God willing and the river don't rise). Thanks again, John
  6. Just watched this footage again and it looks to me like he was boresighting the TGP (possibly after the Gimball Roll warning) and not the TGP "Hop" which is discussed in this thread. But I could be wrong. I would REALLY like the opinion of an ex-Hog driver whether this "Hop" does actually occur or is a DCS-specific aberration.
  7. Great. Beautiful. Thanks alot for that input. Look for a top-down update to the entire campaign within the next month.
  8. Just curious, "IRL" What squadron did you fly in or were you maintenance.? And, IRL, all aviation aircraft, civilian and military, are refueled just after shutdown to prevent the accumulation of water in the tanks... IRL.
  9. Why? It saved my and 10 buddies lives in the 'Stan in '06. I wouldn't be writing this if it weren't for two Hog drivers who were available when we really needed them. Nuff said.
  10. @rforce So, I'm doing a complete review and update of the campaign and after reading your input (above) I couldn't figure out why I put 257.80 on the datasheet until I just happened to look at the DCS World List of Available Beacons. It lists Kobuleti Tower at 257.80 MHz which is, obviously, wrong. Corrected to 262.00 and thanks for pointing that out.
  11. @Blackadder 55 I didn't see this email. I must have missed it but I am working on it now. Will run through the campaign this week and next to try to see what the problems are. Please bear with me. I'm truly sorry you had a bad experience as I've tried to make this campaign both fun and challenging. I'll get back to you once I've had some time to run though them all. John
  12. Thanks for the feedback and thank you for taking a chance on my first campaign. I'm not sure what you are referencing regarding the need for "updating". Are there triggers not occuring or some aspect which isn't working? I'm not sure what you mean. Also, what about the JTAC interface don't you like?
  13. Buzz,

What's your email. I'd like to send you a birthday present.

  14. Congratulations on your 80th. I just turned 60 myself but I just have a nagging suspicion I won't see 80. I love the fact you're playing this game. Speaks a lot about your character. May you have many more birthdays.
  15. Hello, I hope someone will be reading this but I have been using JtacAutoLase pretty frequently in my missions and it works beautifully but I've come across a few scenarios where I'd really like to "radio" the JTAC to turn off the laser temporarily so another target can be prosecuted. I've successfully been able to add a "Start" trigger via Radio Add and the JTAC (Predator) starts lasing and smoking but cannot, for the life of me, find a command to temporarily turn off the laser. I've tried ctld.JTACStop, ctld.JTACStop('JTAC1'), ctld.cancelLase('JTAC1'), ctld.JTACAutoLaseStop('JTAC1') but none work to stop the lase and then restart (via another trigger). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. John Never mind. Just got it to work with ctld.JTACAutoLaseStop('JTAC1')!! It must have been a spelling error.
  16. I honestly couldn't say. I haven't tried it yet and probably won't until it's out of Beta. But it could be since the cloud base in the static weather ususally varies +/- 500 feet.

    campaigns

It's all done in the Mission editor. OPen the campaign folder in ME and then select the mission you want to open. Each mission is a *.miz file but can also be opened by a zipping app such as Winzip, etc. The campaign is "wrapped" by the .cmp file. The .cmp file is created in Campaign Builder (below the Mission Editor in the DCS main screen).

  19. Hello, Trying my hand in using a trigger to set VHF FM (Comm 3) to 30.40 (or any freq for that matter). But I just can't figure out the proper setup: I know I need to use Cockpit Perform Clickable Action: I found the Cockpit device = 56 But having problems figuring out the correct Command and Value to set the radio to 30.40 MHz (taken from the clickabledata.lua file): elements["PTR-ANARC186-VHFFM-FREQ-1"] = radio_wheel(_("Frequency Selector the 1nd"), devices.VHF_FM_RADIO, device_commands.Button_9, device_commands.Button_10, 153,{-0.1, 0.1}, {157,{0.125,0.775},0.5}) elements["PTR-ANARC186-VHFFM-FREQ-2"] = radio_wheel(_("Frequency Selector the 2nd"), devices.VHF_FM_RADIO, device_commands.Button_11, device_commands.Button_12, 154,{-0.1, 0.1}, {158,{0.0,1.0},1.0}) elements["PTR-ANARC186-VHFFM-FREQ-3"] = radio_wheel(_("Frequency Selector the 3rd"), devices.VHF_FM_RADIO, device_commands.Button_13, device_commands.Button_14, 155,{-0.1, 0.1}, {159,{0.0,1.0},1.0}) elements["PTR-ANARC186-VHFFM-FREQ-4"] = radio_wheel(_("Frequency Selector the 4th"), devices.VHF_FM_RADIO, device_commands.Button_15, device_commands.Button_16, 156,{-0.25, 0.25}, {160,{0.0,1.0},1.0}) I just can't figure which one to use. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, John
  20. Eagle86,

Hello. I'm John Schiller and I created Operation Agile Spear for the A-10C (King39). I've purchased Sky Warrior and, while only had time to play to Mission 2, enjoyed it very much.

I'd like to pick your brain with a couple of questions regarding your technique:

    1. I really like the Music On/Off function and for the life of me haven't been able to recreate that in my next campaign Syrian Freedom. I've tried using a lone unit to broadcast an .ogg file from a mountaintop and was successful using an F10.Other command to trigger the music On using a Flag but CANNOT figure out how to turn it off to command. Also,. how did you implement that with Easy Comms when someone doesn't want to fiddle with adjusting radios? I just can't fingure that out.

    2. The other question I have - and I've been wracking my tiny brain trying to figure out - is how did you implement Skip Mission and Go Back 1 Mission? Did you use the Start Mission / End Mission actions or some other way? I also can't seem to implement this through the Mission Editor.

Will you be producing another campaign as I don't see another under your banner but I hope so. I really like Sky Warrior. I am also planning to produce an AV-8D campaign after I release Syrian Freedom and any advice you can give regarding the Harrier would be greatly appreciated.

All the best to you and your family during the Holidays,

    Yours,

    John Schiller

  21. Wow. That really looks awesome! Can't wait to try it out.
  22. I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you mean the stated cloud base in the mission isn't the same as with Dynamic weather? I can't comment on how Dynamic weather affects each mission as it's a work in progress in Beta and I typically avoid anything in Beta.
  23. @Razor18 Thanks for reporting that problem. The AI wingman (person) continues to be a problem in this fairly straightforward mission. I will look at it and see if I can come up with a permanent solution. Thanks again and Happy Holidays, John
  24. Hey,

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your Mission Editor Contextual Radio Menus spreadsheet. It's opened up a whole new way to spice up my campaigns. I wish I'd seen this before I created Operation Agile Spear but will be using it for my upcoming Operation Syrian Freedom and will be giving you full credit with links.

Do you want me to credit you as Gmandnall or your real  name which you would have to send me.

In either case, your work is greatly appreciated.

    John Schiller

    1. gmangnall
