  1. Also, check to make sure your campaign is using the same setup (i.e., Sim, Game, etc.)... I think the training missions default to Sim, so the key bindings match what's being said in the voiceover. Campaign may be set to Game, which would, in fact, give you different binds... *Note: This is only a thought... I've never had it set to anything other than Sim...
  2. Are you setting the pinky switch up as a "Modifier" in the options, or just mapping the two together as a combo? I don't have the information in front of me, but I do remember a thread that explained very well how to set up any switch as an official modifier when assigning keys...
  3. Possible he had just climbed in, and had not yet adjusted his seat for flight? I seem to remember a shutdown checklist who's last item was "raise seat to max" or some such verbiage...
  4. Or, if you have the bandwidth/patients, re-download them manually via the website. I understand this doesn't address your issue, but at least it would get you back in the air (and may resolve the issue (if, say, it is a registry problem))...
  5. In my OPINION: You'd be better off with the single 780. Reason; even with SLI working properly, you should only expect a boost in performance of 10 - 20% at MOST. The jump from a 570 to a 780 (or even 770) is much greater than that... Now if you could SLI the 780's... ;)
  6. As for my question, yes, spidergeo. exactly that... Mainly because I foresee a wave of cancellations/repurchases if the bonus only applies to new purchases... And because, while it has been the practice that bonuses are not retroactive, this is the first time a bonus has been offered on a purely "pre-sale" item (vs. "open beta"), which allows for the aforementioned cancellation/repurchase without repercussion...
  7. And, is it retroactive, or only on new (post post) sales?
  8. carrollhead - If you plug in your controller, Windows itself may not recognize it until you move one of the axis (even though it goes beep). Maybe if you move the throttle through it's range after you plug it in, it'd be recognized in DCS without having to do the on/off bit..?
  9. I does appear to start over, but in truth it verifies what it's already downloaded... Takes a few minutes, but it is not starting over...
  10. Not sure if you're willing, but old tech support here: First thing to try with any consistent crash is undo the overclock... I know, "It works fine with everything else...", but every piece of software is it's own animal... It might work, and if it doesn't, just overclock the crap out of it again...
  11. I imagine it's not really hung, per se, just waiting a new connection... It can sit idle for a very long time. I highly recommend the BitTorrent route to download all the files you need*. Took me a little over two hours to download every available module... *Assuming a full reinstall... (I should have read better :music_whistling: )
  12. The option to save a track is not available during training, IIRC. You'd have to start the training mission through the normal Missions menu...
  13. Really not sure how much of a boost, but the reason for the ALT-TAB is prioritization... With the switch from menu to sim, the Aero is switched from off (in menu), to on (while on desktop), to back off again (in sim). Sometimes, Windows gets confused as to which application has priority, and you end up with the desktop overlaying the sim. ALT-TAB then tells Windows, "No, stupid! Over here..." I personally have seen negligible difference with Disable Aero checked, so it might be easier all around to leave it unchecked...
  14. Probably nothing, but I have seen some strange interactions with other "keyboard" software, for example, the Logitech Gaming Software, and Razer Synapes. Maybe try exiting any such you may be running and try TARGET again?
  15. It might also be the USB hub, assuming you are using such... I recently replaced a hub I was using and, even though I didn't previously have any noticeable "spikes," my overall control IS noticeably smoother.
  16. In the training missions specifically, many of the keyboard commands are required, and reassigned/joystick equivalents, while performing the function, are not accepted by the triggering mechanism to move the mission forward. To put it simply, if it doesn't work, try the keyboard... ;)
  17. Also, in a system that uses hybrid NVidia/Intel graphics, odds are VERY good that the "1 GB" of video RAM is really a shared memory pool with system RAM (read: NOT dedicated), so you may actually have only 3 GB of system RAM available to applications... Not guaranteed by any means, since there are trillions of hardware combinations, but, as I said, VERY likely...
  18. Just shooting in the wind here, but have you set up the brakes in both "Game" and "Sim" modes in the options? It is possible that you have been practicing in "Game" mode, and the campaign uses "Sim" mode...
  19. Haven't tried it, so don't shoot me down, but what happens if you uncheck "TRACKIR AIMING" in Options>Special>UH-1H? It is checked by default, and while logic says it might uncouple the gun from sight tracking, I have no real idea...
  20. Just want to be absolutely clear... Will there ever (I don't care when, just if) be a "full version" (read: A-10C/Black Shark/Mustang level of detail/avionics/operation, etc.) of the F-15? :joystick: Yes, or No only, please, from an "authority" if possible... :music_whistling: I already own FC3, so that's not the question... :pilotfly:
  21. As for controlling the LED's through Windows 7: Control Panel > Devices and Printers, then Right-click the MFD of choice, and select Game Controller Settings. Highlight the actual device in the list of gaming devices, and click the Properties button... You can select/deselect the LED's from there and check basic functionality...
  22. I have come to realize that the update "fails" with an error message ("... was cancelled by the user") if the user is not there to click the "Yes, I really want to let the update do the update" message once the download has completed. You just need to run the Update DCS shortcut (noted above), and be there when the permission dialog comes up.
  23. C:\Users\your name\Saved Games\DCS... * The controller stuff is in there, along with saved missions, etc. Pasting them back does sometimes work, but others have reported weirdness that is cured by deleting/redoing the controller setup. * Assumes Windows 7
  24. Haven't patched yet, but is it possible they put the manuals with each individual module?
  25. I have a similar issue... I don't use the Logitech joystick, but have the mouse/keyboard software (Logitech Gaming Software), which provides custom mapping of the mouse/keyboard buttons (i.e., my Mouse 4 button = Pause/Break)... It is set to load the profile with DCS.exe, however, it does not load inside the sim unless I ALT+TAB out, and back in after the actual sim launches... And it happens every time it's launched (i.e., I finish a mission, return to the "launcher", select another mission, click fly, wait for the sim to load, then I have to ALT+TAB/return for the mouse to work as programmed). I remember something else that was solved by ALT+TABbing, but I'll be durned if I can remember what it was... Related issue? Anyway, lengthy post to say, "Try ALT+TABbing out to the desktop, then back in to see if it helps..." :smilewink:
