  1. Ach, read through this thread thinking this is exactly the sort of stuff I was after for the MiG pair, only to find on the last page it no longer works. Sad face.
  2. I feel there's mileage to be had in sharing beginner mistakes. Either in learning from others or in group amusement... I'll start. Messing around on blue flag a few nights ago, I was attempting to sneak up to a Farp and inconvenience it through the medium of high explosives. On the second attempt (the first was cut short when I was spotted by an F15...), I managed to get nicely set up behind a ridge and actually blew some stuff up. Overwhelmed with confidence I attempted to bound forward to the next ridge for a different angle. Went too fast, had to pull up hard to avoid overflying the ridge, didn't balance with enough left rudder as I dropped the collective, and sliced hard right to plunge sideways into trees, the ground, and an ignoble, firey death. So far the ground is by far and away my most dangerous opponent.
  3. Ok, I get that it's triggered by lasers. But from the stuff I'd read I thought that was just from tanks about to hammer you with an AT missile. I was on blue flag last night, and was repeatedly lit up whilst flying through the mountains, until I was passed by a Mig29 (at a hilariously high AoA). Do aircraft also have lasers capable of setting of the receiver? I'd guess maybe the Su25T, but a Mig? Confused...
  4. (For anyone reading from the future, in answer to my question above, the guard switch on the Black Shark _does_ overrule whatever frequency you have set on the R-800, rather than listen to both frequencies at the same time. It doesn't change the numbers on the rotary dials, so it's not totally obvious what you're Rx/Tx on unless you've got the overlay on.)
  5. Just checked the manual - yup, left hand = R-800 = VHF-2. SW is a handy tip, haven't seen that referenced anywhere. Cheers. Just been listening again to the simpleradio youtube guide. Does the guard switch effectively overwrite the set frequency, or does it allow you to listen to guard as well as the frequency set by hand on VHF2?
  6. Hi folks. Did try searching for KA-50 guidance but couldn't find much. Sorry if I missed it... Couple of questions: For the main left-hand radio: should I be on AM or FM? Is there any way to transmit on guard, without dialling in 121.5? I know I can receive by flicking that switch. Is there any use for the right-hand radio in multiplayer? I'm guessing only other KA-50s would have the same frequencies? Cheers! PS: by left-hand/right-hand, i mean the one on the left front panel and the back right panel with the rotary knob...
